Evil Dead 1 Kandarian Dagger (Build with original style parts!)
Переглядів 1,3 тис.3 роки тому
Today we set out to build our own Kandarian dagger using the same parts as the original prop-maker used (Aluminum bar stock, mache', chicken bones, and the same model skeleton) I found the below website extremely helpful when researching this build. Rob runs a tight ship over there! www.bookofthedead.ws/website/features_evil_dead_replica_dagger.html

Today we field another question from a subscriber! From "randallace" comes the topic for today's video, a closer look at my SA80 airsoft rife (plus a run down on its place from the film 'Aliens') *The rifle itself as a "Springer" (spring powered, manual cock after each shot) airsoft rifle. It is unbranded, but very inexpensive if you can find one!

Aliens USCM GRENADE BOX (M-40, qty-25)
Переглядів 6353 роки тому
In this video, we look at 3 common (and cheap!) Shotshell boxes that we will be looking to convert into the "M-40 Grenade" Box as seen in the movie Aliens. In addition to the boxes, we will look at Alclad Brown Bess airbrush paint, and the most accurate lettering kit available from our good firend Moosh of Moosh Customs! You can find her at the aliens legacy forum (Screen name "Moosh89") forum....

Building the Aliens Dropship Pilot Helmets
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
In this video, we use real SPH-4 chopper helmets along with resin kits to make replicas of the pilot helmets worn by the "Dropship" crew from Aliens. We go over the necessary parts, some suggested techniques and show off available kits to make not only a screen accurate "Ferro" helmet, but also the extra bits for Spunmeyer's Co-Pilot/Gunner style helmet.

I think the dogtags had the 3.2mm ball bearings chains and not the smaller bearings seen a lot.
I've never seen its equal.
Great vid! Aree there any good alternatives for the steadicam rig? Getting an original is obviously out of the question but there are modern rigs for sale that arent too expensive and work the same way and look pretty much the same.
I don't have a specific brand/model#s to recommend, but my main advice is be mindful of the weight limits on any vest/arm/rig. Metal builds vs. resin smartguns (like HCG's or Matsuo) have a huge weight difference and you don't want to be caught with a "cheap" arm that can't carry the weight. You also don't want a overly strong arm that keeps you fighting to push the smartgun down. Function is more important than looks in this case because these things are cumbersome! The main thing is get your smartgun first then chose an appropriate vest/arm for that weight. If you have a good chest plate, a good smartgun, and you can move about comfortably then no one is going to even notice your arm/rig.
5:44 If you’re going to say the airsoft ones have discrepancies, it would probably help to ELABORATE what those discrepancies are. Because most people will look at them and say they’re good. I need autistic levels of detail to understand what makes them bad.
Fair enough request and I will make extra sure to address those specifics on a video dedicated only to pulse rifles (which I plan to do very soon). I feel like this one was already too long at 45 mins, so getting too deep into the weeds wasn't the goal here. I think you'll be pleased with the next one.
Every paycheck a fortune !!!
32:20 you are incorrect. Having served and used the respirator '58 pattern. In the film it shows the small flap pouch on the left side, also when it shows it open it has 2 velcro patches with a central press stud. The straps fasten on the rear of the pouch not the sides.
I've seen evidence that Ripley used the Haversack S6 (or S10?) respirator bag at the end. However Dietrich's and Frosts bag clearly did have side mounted strapping and no pouch. In the set/continuity photos you get a much more clear look at their gear. Check it out forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15230&p=233421#p233421 You can find similar continuity photos of Frost and the same side mounted straps and lack of an extra pouch visible there.
It’s a fake that’s why it is so bad been seeing these pop up now. I ordered one too and sent it back the real one has a square shield.
F******* nice
Keep up the good work
BigBisonT Props you earned a sub
What thinner did you use?
honestly dont remember. Might have used either mineral spirits or plain old Testors 'thinner' for enamels. Had to be one of the two.
Cool!!! What kind of mass do you use? And what is the full length of the dagger from the movie?
Imagine having a Royal Colonial Marines ❤
I tought to use the sensor sound on my car reverse sensor! lol
So Aliens exist! lol It detected a lot of them!
This is great work. If I may ask, why not use hot glue for the ribbing around the dome?

I have a similar player and I can't get any avi files to play on it, do you remember how you converted it and what codes you used? This is the last piece I need for my motion tracker build
Considering that the L85A1 was just being introduced in the year filming commenced, units in the British Army were only just recieving them I'm interested to know how an armoury company would have got their hands on them? Resin copies would make sense as they would be only in the background.
Please could you tell me what the player is called that you use as I have tried to find one just like this for this purpose thank you
Welp buddy if you dont hurry up soon i might beat you to that smartgun build! (Cues weyland yutani corp stuff) No in all seriousness id love to one day have a collection like that
Just building my armour now ...
Great idea! Do you know if any other possibly longer tracker videos exist anywhere?
I wrote a Qbasic program to emulate that screen on an old Toshiba plasma screen luggable, I must revisit that project!
What the hell are we supposed to use man, harsh language..
Any updates?
Do you sell these Ferro helmet replicas at all? I love it!
Thank you but I really just build for myself. As I mentioned in the video there is a user named stephen210 who sells the parts from the Aliens legacy forum and new artists are 3D modeling the bits and pieces to print very accurate parts now. The hardest part remains finding (and deciding to cut up) a vintage SPH helmet. That is the main obstacle for being able to build/sell complete helmets, so I'm sorry but I don't have anything I can sell at the moment.
@@bigbisontprops6860 Hi again. Just want to clarify something I heard in the video: You mentioned the SPH helmet is a size Small, but I'm struggling to find one in this size. By Small, did you mean the Regular?
@@natwooding It is packed up at the moment, but I am pretty certain it said "S" (small) on it. It is noticeably smaller than my other/Spunkmeyer one. I can wear my spunkmeyer helmet comfortably but my ferro helmet is too small for me.
That elastic helmet band! Please share where you found that!!!!
That is just a modern "coyote" colored US Army Helmet band that I got on ebay. Unfortunately it can be a bit "hit and miss". I have ordered several with the exact same description and they can vary a bit in thickness and color. I guess different batches or different manufacturers? Still, I prefer them as my go-to as they look pretty good with a near-accurate color, are very durable, and pretty affordable.
@@bigbisontprops6860 Im trying to track down the night raider for my TE Armor,, do you know where one is being sold? Love your site by the way!
Can the player play this on a loop?
yes it does
Yeah their called Butt Connectors their brilliant for joining wires together instead of having to solder them together
How did you remove the leather wrap? mine is backwards and printed badly. Hoping to find a replacement.
a little heat from a heat-gun or hair dryer should soften up the glue, then gently peel/pry it apart. If you are replacing it then you can probably just cut and rip it off. It is fake leather and not strong.
The plastic were a dark green btw, the new A3 version in a desert colour and its more accurate than the M16/M4 platform
Sir please where do i get the functional range finder like yours?
Do you mean the range-finder Bag? Or the Fero D NVG Goggles? The bag was a custom made by "Noble". He is not making them anymore so you just have to find one on ebay or the forums. The Goggles appear on ebay sometimes, but the "functional" working ones can cost several thousand dollars. Mine is just the shell that I will fill with binocular parts some day. I got my shell on ebay.
@BigBisonT Props no sir sorry for my bad wording...its the tubular metal rod that has a number meter on it to find the watch ripley was given by hicks...the watch finder as it would
@@smdsnowflakes5107 Ah! Sorry I should have realized that. The locater tubes were made by "SD Studios". I am not certain how active they are anymore, but if you search "SD Studios Locator tube" you may find more info.
@@bigbisontprops6860 thank you very much sir👍🏽
UPDATE - It should be noted that as several commenters below have stated, in the 80s there WAS a 12G red version that is screen accurate. The current MTM 12G boxes have changed the style into the swinging hinge as in the video (an upgrade over the bending molded hinge as seen on film). But the ACCURATE "old style" 12 gauge boxes did exist in Red, Green, and apparently Yellow. Thank you to all who contributed and I now own the accurate red and green ones myself. I should really do an update video with the correct boxes.
Thanks for this Video! so cool. Ordered the player and downloaded the file. Having some difficulty transferring it to the player, even with your last updated AVI. file on the alienslegacy thread. Says format error. Any advice? Also used VLC for transferring to a AVI and getting the same error. Thanks again for posting this.
Awesome. How did they even do it back in the day. So amazing. And the sound so eerie. How did you get the sound and graphic from the movie onto the video player? So cool!!!
Great idea! But... I have the same player now, but what format/ codec etc. did you choose to get a AVM Avi? I could get nothing work :(
I went to the linked device's 'Jolike' website and downloaded pretty sketchy 90s style software to convert it into the desired AMV/AVI file. I just retried and I "think" i uploaded it successfully to the legacy thread. Try the file that is currently the last post in this thread forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19299&p=276517#p276517
@@bigbisontprops6860 Thank you very much! I fiddled around with the Software from jolike, because it accepts not many formats as source to convert into it´s on. It works now with files from "Easy UA-cam Video" help. Next problem: I can´t find the right Hama Viewer, but have some printing files. I thing they have the wrong Dimension, because the joylike will not fit so easy like in your video. Could you be so kind to measure yours? This would be great
That's quality mate
That damn face hugger totally ruined this video. Now I'm creeped out for the rest of the night, and it is going to be a two-Ambien night. Thanks a lot.
They use an MTM S25-12
I'm looking at making a Dropship Helmet starting with the cheaper HGU-39/P, main difference is in the impact liner, instead of continuing to destroy Vietnam era SPH helmets which are getting more expensive, more collectable and harder to find. The HGU-39/P uses the same Gentex fiberglass shell, with a different liner that was intended to fit better with NBC Nuclear Biological & Chemical Warfare Protective Masks (aka Gas Masks).
really don't understand the complaint about the lack of sheath when it was never advertised that it was going to come with one
Is it possible that they used a Parker Brothers Survival/Boot Knife as the Gerber Clone as well? Those have the exact same handle and sheath as the Explorer MM IV. Thanks!
Actually some time after I posted this video, Hudson's screen used knife was found and auctioned at the Prop-Store of London. The screen used knife was indeed revealed to be an MM-IV. As a stand-in or replica, the Parkers are excellent choices as they are structurally the same, just a shiny blade instead of dark oxide like the screen used/MMiv.
@@bigbisontprops6860 - Wow, thanks for the reply!
will be creating a xenomorph for my grandson this year... your video had great ideas!!
The easiest, fastest, and least expensive fix to the ear flap, is using 1 or 2 USMC "Boot Bands". It doesn't require any modification, and can be installed in less than 1 minute. If someone doesn't already have these, they can be picked up at a PX for $1 or $2. I posted about this on the forums about 10 years ago, but I suspected that it was deleted. So I made a video of it today: ua-cam.com/video/Q2taS-mbRUM/v-deo.html
Haven’t seen a vid in a while - hope you are ok and all is well .
Wow, look this sweet alien. 🙂
