Nightbitch (2024) Is An ABOMINATION - A Review
Directed by Marielle Heller, Nightbitch is a black comedy horror film starring Amy Adams as a stay-at-home-mum who, struggling with her husband’s absence and the responsibilities of looking after a one year old boy, starts to turn into a dog. Suffice it to say from a premise like that, watching Nightbitch was an extremely confusing and bizarre experience.
I understand the sentiments of people who connect with the underlying message or even enjoy the book, given that it was such a monumental success, and maybe a really talented visionary director could have elevated the thematic material to speak to some genuine truths and actually create a product with any semblance of artistic depth. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that she, or any other actors in the film, give a terrible performance, but they have absolutely nothing to work with here and it’s hard not to judge their ability to gauge the quality of any production they join in the future.

Nosferatu (2025) is DISGUSTING - A Review
Переглядів 7 тис.Місяць тому
Nosferatu, written and directed by Robert Eggers, is the first film I’ve seen in 2025 and definitely not one I’ll forget anytime soon. Some people seem to love the film, others have come away underwhelmed, and then there are those like the teenagers sat a few seats away from me in my screening, who were rustling popcorn, fidgeting and whispering the entire time because they had no idea what was...
The Best Films Of 2024 - A Review

Some people say cinema is dead; various major UA-camrs might have you believe that film studios are no longer capable of putting out anything worth your time or money. For most of 2024, I would argue it’s been more difficult than ever to go into the year’s newest releases with high expectations. Thankfully, over the last few weeks and months, I’ve been able to seek out and catch up on some genu...
Kraven The Hunter (2024) Is Impressively Bad - A Review
Переглядів 1,7 тис.Місяць тому
In maybe the least surprising news of the year, Sony’s newest superhero-adjacent film is… bad. How bad, you ask? Well… After Madame Web and Venom: The Last Dance earlier this year, as well as every live action superhero film Sony have done since Spider-Man 3, I guess I hoped I could at least get some ironic enjoyment out of Kraven. After going out of my way to watch this film, taking well over ...
The Worst Movies Of 2024 - A Review

2024 has been a “special” year for the medium of film. While the big studios seem to have saved the year’s very best for the last three months, we have been graced with no shortage of forgettable and/or borderline-unwatchable abominations from the moment the year began. Among the grotesque multi-faced Cronenberg monster these atrocities have formed in my mind, there are five films that stand ou...

TRAP (2024) Is A Mess - A Review
Переглядів 4,8 тис.5 місяців тому
It's a difficult case to make that M. Night Shyamalan's Trap - with a budget of $35 million - could be produced on such lazy foundations. At this point in his career, it genuinely does feel like the writer/director has stopped taking notes or redrafting his screenplays at all, once his evidently self-assured ideas have been printed. There are so many fundamental improvements that could have bee...
How LONGLEGS (2024) Was Almost Great - A Review
Переглядів 9886 місяців тому
Longlegs is the fourth feature film by writer/director Oz Perkins and is quite clearly his breakout success. Not unlike its numerous contemporaries, it’s clear the pitch for Longlegs would have presented its distribution company, Neon, with a huge dilemma: how do you successfully market something like this, without setting false expectations or simply revealing too much? The often misleading, o...
The Problem With Saltburn (2023)

Saltburn, the second feature film from the writer/director of Promising Young Woman - Emerald Fennell - is dividing TikTok and the world at large. Watching the movie for myself… I can understand why. The question: is there actually anything under Saltburn’s glossy surface? Is it a masterpiece or - in fact - a massive, pretentious piece of sh*t? - Review & Analysis by Beau-Alexander Burnham, Esq.
Rock of Love (2007) - A Series Review (PART 2)

While I can claim my opinion of Rock of Love is highly critical and that my enjoyment is purely ironic, I am yet to find a reality show that has gripped me for all the wrong reasons quite like this. Rock of Love was an American reality-television dating game show where 25 lucky women were selected to fly out to California, stay in a mansion with Bret Michaels and compete for his undying love and affection. The show ran for three seasons, which is a bit of a spoiler for just how long his relationships with the winners would last, especially considering they managed to cram all of that into ...
After falling asleep several times, we ultimately left early. We hated it
Completely boring. Coppola's Dracula with Gary Oldman is heaps better, it actually tells a story from start till finish.🦇👻
What a spiteful video, you make this one after getting rejected or something?
Its No bram stoker's dracula
A beautiful tribute to old creepy men who perv on innocent girls…🧟♂️🏃🏻♀️➡️

MASTERPIECE. 💯
I have seen this wonderful movie four times, now, in different theaters so I could ensure four different experiences. I can honestly say that THIS is how you film gothic horror. Egger's has now set a high bar. The fact you state you don't care for the source material (Dracula) and the notice of your surroundings aligns perfectly with your review, as to why you didn't understand (get) certain elements/portrayals. You simply need to see it again, and sit away from everyone. As far as your take on Nicholas Hoult's Thomas Hutter, I couldn't agree more. However, in defense of Depp, Taylor-Johnson and Corrin, you first need to understand Victorian times, where sex was repressed, and the separation of class was prominent. Taylor's (Harding's) lines are stilted, because he is an upright made man, who cannot show his true personality to anyone but his wife. You see him relax and let his guard down in the scene where Harding and his wife walk away from Ellen. You know this because Anna must correct him about being in public. The reason he is repressed with Hoult, is because Thomas came along with Depp's (Ellen's) relationship with his wife (Anna). They were not friends, before. With Corrin's Anna, , she struggles between the two worlds of a) her love for her friend, and b) her 'status'. The only thing I can honestly state as unclear is the origin of Ellen's and Anna's relationship. And I thought that Depp was absolutely perfect, so I have no need to defend her choices. As with Skarsgard. As a lover of the book, as well as a lover of the original Nosferatu, and of course Egger's' talent as a director, and the fact I had been waiting years for this movie I can honestly say it is one movie out of two I can remember within the last 10 years of movie viewing to surpass my expectations. The other being Blade Runner 2049. 9.9 out of 10
Once was enough !
Very Well said 👏👏👏 This movie was a disgrace to especially The Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) 😓😞
@ And I so wanted to like it. Lovely to look at but otherwise empty.
@@Talia.777in response to 'Bram Stoker's' Dracula, it is close to the book - except in the most important aspect - in the book Dracula did not cross 'oceans of time' for Mina. She is not the reincarnation of his dead wife. In Bram Stoker's ACTUAL Dracula, he is a monster. Read the book. It is far better than Coppola's movie.
Clearly the cinematography of this movie is top notch. And I have to say I also love the fact that this remake of the unofficial Dracula actually brings us the most accurate physical depiction of the vampire to date, based on the real life Vlad "The Impaler" Tepes. There's nothing mesmerising about this fiend: he is clearly a walking, roting abomination whose mere presence violently intoxicates everything and everyone around him in the manner of a deadly virus: He is literally a walking plague. And that's where this version differs from previous iterations based on Bram Stoker's story that generally prefer to emphasize on the love triangle plot . Skarsgärd once again delivers big time and is unrecognisable as Orlok the undead. Hoult is also on top of his game. Yet, I didn't find the movie to be gory as I had heard it was going to be. The only shocking scene being the one involving two little girls. And even then, there wasn't any graphic gore involved. Many will tend to say the film brings nothing new to the table in terms of the story, which clearly is the case. But instead it works on the nuances, to great effect. All in all a good gothic creep fest. 😎😱👍
Every fking Sony movie is total garbage. Please kids and parents stop watching this "movies".
This movie was horribly bad...
Introducing "Uglies" by saying "From legendary director, McG" was pure money-spending deterrent. 😐
But he directed Terminator Salvation? Who doesn’t love that film?
@areviewseries . Sarcasm detected. 😂
I watched because of Amy Addams, but it was so hard to watch. It was so boring and didn't make sense at all. I fell asleep half theough it. Maybe there were some point about motherhood, but the movie was really bad.
How can she have a one year old kid? She looks like an aged grandmother?!
So edgy
You must not get out much. Majority of women are having kids after 35+ and women who have 2 kids already can easily have a third or fourth after 40. Also she doesn't look like a grandma, unless your mom and grandma had you at 18. Hope this helps.
Calling a movie "The Weirdest Movie of 2024" and then telling me not to watch it is a very confusing strategy!
There is a difference between the “good” kind of weird (e.g. The Substance) and “bad” kind of weird (e.g. Nightbitch). The film will probably be a complete waste of time for most people, for as bizarre as it may be.
It looks great.
Have you looked at womens books the past 5-10 years? Theyre not doing ok bro. Atleast this isnt just Corn
Yeah. Women’s minds have gone off the deep end since Trump started running for President in 2015.
Memoir, Anora, The Substance are all in my top tier movies of 2025. I would add Hundreds of Beavers in my top five as well as Nosferatu.
Really? Pretty forgettable for me, I barely remember it. Kept waiting for it to be less dull and Orlok to be scary. Give me Herzog’s, Coppola’s, or Murnau’s version over this any day. And I love a slow-burn atmospheric thriller.
the reason I think it’s so incredible is because of the emotional conflict within the characters, particularly Lily-Rose Depp’s character. the story is about finding purpose, in my eyes. for the first 3 quarters of the film, Ellen has lived in the shadow of her loneliness; even despite Thomas caring for her and making her feel worthful, she still has an aching lack of purpose. when count orlok arrives, she is faced with a dilemma; succumb to the darkness or let the world be destroyed? but when willem dafoe’s character (i cant remember his name lmao) figures out that a maiden sacrifice must be used to destroy the Nosferatu, she is hesitant at first, but then she realises; this is what i’ve been waiting for. a purpose. she realises that her purpose is to sacrifice herself to save the world. not only this, but the film is also beautiful and etheral to look at, the acting is powerful, and Bill Skarsgard’s performance is mindblowing. I think it’s Robert Eggers’ best film yet.
You weren't that kid that said, "Duh, did du vampire diiii" by any chance.........!!
@gerrodmendham461 😂
Some people just have to lord the edge...
@@soulshomeentertainment @soulshomeentertainment Thank you for sharing your thoughtful and well-stated perspective on this movie. Especially when my comment was so negative. I can appreciate your take on it - I might have liked it had I gone into it expecting a different story focusing on the Mina/Lucy (Ellen) character while depicting demon-lore (she conjured him up and was possessed by him) instead of vampire-lore (he had been there through many centuries and was drawn to her, and he turned those bitten into vampires, etc.). The more I think about it, the more I think it was disappointing because it didn’t have the elements that make vampires captivating.
I agree with you, the sets, music, cinematography and performances were killer but the story was...meh at best, most of the characters dont even do anything for most of the movie it was kinda strange
Absolutely brilliant movie! Just hope soneone does Frankenstein, the mummy, jekyll and Hyde, Justice
This is a great movie. I really like it. But it doesn't come close to 1992 Bram Stoker's Dracula.
??? FFC's Bram Stoker's Dracula is just one big 'Throw everything into the pot' visually cartoonish version!! Maybe a slight saving grace being Gary Oldman's portrayal of Dracula.......Maybe!!
Best quote about Joker 2: "I feel like this movie hates me."
Cinema Magic. That ending tore a new one in me. Nicholas H. is who truly carried the film imo. He is Hollywood's accessible Tom Cruise. Handsome yet approachable with boy next door looks.
I really liked the movie, although I agree with several points in the video, including the soundtrack. What was Robin doing? I saw 2 interviews with him - one of them with Eggers - and he emphasizes a spiral, it's that cluster that repeats itself throughout the movie. He said he was inspired by 20th century works like Bartok, but for God's sake! The first song in the box and the one at the end are good soundtracks but they can't save Robin from the waste of sound that he made in this movie. I feel insulted haha
You didn't get it, that's alright 😅
I frigging loved this thing. Saw it the Friday morning after Xmas and can't wait for the bluray.
I *swear* I am not on commission for these things, but get a bit evangelical for Loop earplugs whenever an opportunity comes up,,, This was the first time I'd been in the cinema since pre-C-word lockdown. In the intervening years, I'd learned that yes, I do have oversensitive hearing (hyperacusis) and yes, I do have misophonia (unreasonably irritable reaction to some sounds). But I *really* wanted to see this movie in the cinema... So last week, I girded my social anxiety and went. I took my seat early, and side-eyed all of those trooping in with their buckets of popcorn, trays of nachos, gallons of icy drinks that would require slurping to get to the bottom of... And... I really enjoyed it. Loop earplugs in, not only was the excessively loud Vue playback brought to a comfortable level, but *I COULDN'T HEAR ANYONE EAT OR SPEAK*. It was me and the movie; how cool is that? The only distraction was the mannerless bint next to me who hauled out her phone ever 15 minutes to check the time, but otherwise the sound was perfect. Make chattering teens a thing of the past, and get yourself some loops! Sorry, I'll go back in my box now. Glad you enjoyed the film.
Thank you for sharing, that sounds perfect! I’ll definitely try to pick some up for next time.
Hello fellow misphoniac, last night I went to see this movie in a cinema and for the first time in my life I shouted shut the fuck up! to stop an inconsiderate idiot from speaking loudly during the movie. it helped and I was able to enjoy the movie as intended.
ME, MY OPINION HORRID WHY WOULD SHE LOVE THAT? OMG!! GARY OLDMAN IS HOT BUT THIS DUDE HELL NO ITS NOT A LOVE STORY BUT BILL THE ACTOR IS HANDSOME DIDNT SEE HIM IN THAT COSTUME AT ALL HORRID
So great. He put the horrid back into horror.
No It is not in any way.
I saw it twice a week apart. The first viewing felt it lost momentum after the Count Orlok reveal. The second time I caught more dialogue and overall the film felt creepy. Didn't love it as much as the VVitch but overall a good vampire film. Many have critiqued Orlok's appearance in this film but it was a cool nod to Vlad Tepes, the original inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula.
He is perfect
I hated the redesign of Count Orlock, that mustache was weird
I think he looks great, maybe my favorite vampire. He actually looks like someone that was buried and dug up some time later and came back to life, and his costume, and face do look a lot like a Romanian, or generally Eastern European lord from the middle ages, and somewhat original too when it comes to picturing vampires. But a lot of people don't like looking at a new thing for some reason. I don't think that the mustache was weird, I mean the historical character that he is supposed to represent did have a mustache like that. The original was cool and all but he just looks like a typical monster thing, this guy really looks like he was a real person at some point. I found his accent in English kinda weird and exaggerated at times but his voice and looks were great in my opinion.
He was made to look like Dracula from the book. Basically an undead version of Vlad Tepes
@@haveagoodone2935Dracula looked like a giant blood-swollen tick with tiny legs in Stoker's novel? Must've missed that. Oh, but he had a mustache like in the book, so it's all good.
It was meant to be a re creation of Vlad the Impaler, for that aspect they did great, especially having him look like a dead walking corpse not a glamorous Pop culture vampire....this was so much more "believable" 😊 absolutely loved it
Read more.
Looks like barf.
Haha now all of a sudden you are all expert film critics but your arguments sound more like they came from an intern at TMZ.
I have to be honest here and its my opinion Great filming the actors did a great job but over all it was terrible . After Thomas left Count Choculas castle the no teeth un scary vampire with Ashma the movie did nothing .. 3 useless guys that didnt even confront the vampire once.A simp Husband who does not even attempt to save his wife .What was great?? So what fancy camera work who cares .. If i was the director i would "bring it " have you on the edge of your seat not sleeping in it ...Sorry for me it didnt cut it at all .. Orlok should of used 300 sunblock at the end so he could at least get a second date with Thomas wife as he hid under the bed ...Stay well
I’m going to have to agree with you 100% It was such a let down and with each passing day I start to like it less and less. I really wanted to love the film due to its gorgeous cinematography.
He was basically a giant tick with a mustache. Ticks and plague rats are a mixed metaphor. The first two Nosferatu films got the character right.
You missed the point of the movie. It's about what it's about not what it's not about...men confronting Orlok is not the movie.
@@robertsaladino so what was the point of the movie?
@@robertsaladino its about having a great time at the movies and leaving there saying OMG that Movie Brung it ...Worth my $60 for a ticket and candy ...In that case it should be on Netflix if thats what its about .stay well
Honestly, your poor theater experience, is the main reason I see movies on the following Tuesday after the release date. If you can see it in a special theater. My favorite theaters are the Dolby theaters at AMC. Late night Tuesday night theaters are usually empty and Dolby are beautiful with excellent sound. I Highly recommend. Also theaters I live give discounts usually someday during the week. Check it out again at a discounted price. I hope you enjoy more.
You’re the first person I’ve seen to somewhat criticize the movie. I have to agree that it’s genuinely terrifying in some parts and Bill Skårsgard was phenomenal, but I really felt that it floundered nearly everything in the end. No one’s mentioned what the husband does to his deceased wife, I felt it unnecessary and added for forced suspense and wasted the character all for no reason. The ending is so abrupt, Nosferatu dies cause he didn’t want to stop Lol. I did enjoy the watch! But I was dissatisfied overalll
Why didn't Eggers have the wife and two girls come out of their coffins and feed on the dad? THAT would've been scary. The necrophelia was idiotic.
@@christophermacintyre5890 But he DID say he couldn't (keep his hands off her...lol) resist her?
Im 47. I hated the teens with the popcorns. And I have seen Coppolas version and Oldman was way better. This movie SUCKED ASS!
You should at to your comment *...in my opinion* Because to state your *personal* opinion, like your opinion is A FACT. Screams narcissism.
I agree, but I don't think Coppola's version was satisfactory either.
Coppola's version was trash, Reeves spoiled it, the castle was like something from a fantasy space flick! And the older dracula make up was way off, but that's my opinion, alot of people loved it, I didn't.
47 and using terms like "sucked ass". I'm even more confident in my opinion that Nosferatu was a good film.
Aron Taylor Johnson had the most wooden performance i have seen in a long time it was painful to look at. Depp had one scene she went over the top othwerwise i think she did a good job, anyhow it's not her job to pick the takes, so it's not really her fault.
Agreed. I don't think her acting ability was the issue so much as a couple of the takes Eggers went with.
Will not see uglies
Nor should anyone
Great list! Love to see South East Asian cinema getting a mention on lists like this.
Thank you so much! It’s a shame these films don’t get the mainstream recognition they deserve in the west.
Any film that squeezes the toccata of L'Orfeo in its intro is welcome in our house. Viva la Chimera.
Such a great film. Thanks so much for watching/subscribing, it means a lot!
@@areviewseries Pleasure is all mine. Sort of skipped through the video cause I haven't seen the other ones, sorry about that. Whenever you get the chance, watch Walter Salles' "I'm Still Here"
I really wanted to watch that ahead of this video but it’s a 2025 release in the UK from what I read; I will check it out ASAP!
That last movie just looks like a knock-off of early 2010’s teen dystopian films. I get that the movies is literally called uglies but that didn’t mean it had to actually look ugly like an AI threw up on the screen.
This movie could have been so much better. Left a lot to be desired. Very confusing and then disappointing in the end. I would argue that most of the men in this movie were in fact, bad. LMFAO her interview is hilarious. Great video!
I really hated argyle it was terrible and confusing
Rather than seeing either Joker movie, try Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master (2012). You get Joaquin playing almost the same character, plus Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, beautiful cinematography, a much better script, and no bloody singing.
Uglies reminds of me of the experience i had watching The Divergent Trilogy ... when I said, "I honestly thought this movie would be good...F was I thinking!!!!" Good lord that was trash, like watching a dog take a wet turd
