    The urge to create is as natural and automatic as breathing for me. It's meditation, therapy, a chance to learn or practice skills and a fundamental part of my identity.

      thanks so much for the comment Wayne. I felt that too. But I wanted to know WHY it felt natural. Maybe I should explore that more in another video. As a person with ADHD youtrself, I bet you understand the allieviation to boredom and interest though!

    Great video. I would have liked to seen something about brainstorming or collecting images and ideas. You could also have shown how someone else’s process might have worked. For example, i often work on a separate page then adhere it to my journal page. I would like to see a video discussing why and how neurodiverse people struggle with using prompts. Thank you for these videos.

      thanks Linda, this one was just a brief overview, but there will be more indepth explanations coming next month. We will definitely think about the Neurodiverse perspective... maybe a live would be good?

    Great video, Jenni. The page you made is very pretty. That mandala stencil is beautiful. I would have also suggested turn on music or flip through books or Pinterest to get ideas. Both of these get me motivated when I’m not. Another way to kickstart being creative is to use old or cheaper supplies. These are just thoughts.

      Great ideas. I do sometimes use up my cheapre supplies when I'm not feeling great - but when I do, I have to expect the results will reflect the lower quality.

    The journal page is beautiful. I love the bird and the stencils. In the future I would love to see various techniques using the stencils. I appreciated the explanation that there is no difference between ADD and ADHD. I would have liked more details of how hyperactivity can manifest itself. As well, others who are neurodivergent can experience hyperactivity. Being someone who has ASD I experience hyperactivity, especially when I am stressed or anxious. Many of these disorders are interrelated.

    • @illustrated_insights
      @illustrated_insights Рік тому

      Yes, you are so right, they are often comorbid. That's a valid comment about the different ways hyperactivity can manifest. It's tricky to get the right amount of information in and still make it about the art journal rather than the educational content. Is there anything you would like to see done with the stencils in particular?

    I loved the page you made, Jenni. It was a good prompt. It really got me thinking about how I used to really care what others think. In the recent while I have changed to not care what others think at all. The title Whispers could be used in a different way for neurodivergent people; that being how you quiet all the whispers in your head.

    You did a beautiful job on this page. I find it interesting that you completely cover over your original journaling. I would have liked to heard more detail about why it’s important as a neurodiverse person to acknowledge and know who your peeps are.

    • @illustrated_insights
      @illustrated_insights Рік тому

      Very valid suggestion Linda, thanks. I'm sure I'll revisit this topic over and over! And yes, I used to think it was pointless doing those first few layers if you completely cover them. But I keep doing those steps because they settle me in, get me thinking about the topic and get rid of the horrid blank page. Plus, i don't have to worry about anyone ready the drivel I write later on.

    As a neurodivergent person, I deal with hyperfocus all the time. This video was very interesting. It’s a benefit to me because I get lost in what I’m doing. I liked hearing about Georgia’s side of this. Thank you for these videos.

      And thank you so much Linda for taking the time to comment. Hyperfocus really can be a double edged word. It's great to get things done, but can actually lead to more procrastination at times.
