Swapping button on Olight i3T 2 for .223 shell casing.
In this video I replace the rubber tailswitch on the Olight i3t 2 with a piece of shell casing from a .223 round.
This is the first time I've ever done any kind of mod like this and more than anything else I wanted it to be something to give someone else an idea of how to do this project. There were no other videos. I hope this helps and you learn from my goofy mistakes! Enjoy.

Tested out the Black Beard Firestarter yesterday. I started a small fire and overall it's a lightweight and compact firestarter. I think if you'd graded it a bit higher, put the patio stones in first, and then filled in around them with the concrete screeded to the same height, it may have worked OK, since sand-mix cement is essentially mortar, and mortar is very similar to grout. But they would have been too low at the depth you started. You also could have put a layer of concrete leveled, and just set the blocks in where you wanted them, and then filled in around them, but the concrete would have been unnecessary, and polymeric sand would have worked for that. Good effort, though, on to the next plan!

    Scrape a few times prior to spark. Get some of the ferro rod scrapings onto it first. That'll catch the spark a bit better. Also, you need to get the rod closer to it. Set the rod onto the starter and really get close down to it. You don't need to scrape such a large amount of the rod. The smaller and harder you push, the more you'll direct the spark.

    Thanks for the great review! It really seems to be a great all-around light. Only downside of most of the USB C lights is that they aren't complying with PD (power delivery) standard, so many USB C power supplies will NOT shake hands with these flashlights. Kind of a dumb bummer missing a few cents of small IC components, a missed opportunity.

    • @josephchandler2302
      @josephchandler2302 4 роки тому

      Flashlights have different types of emitters (basically the LED in the flashlight) that produces a different light warmth. Think cool blue white vs. Normal yellow(ish) flashlights. Killzone had a deal with Acebeam and they are only producing and selling that emitter kind through that web site. So if you don't care about SUPER white vs a more natural color then you can buy it from wherever you'd like. Also just as a note my buddy is a local police officer and this light has been come his duty carry light. Loves it.

    It's relevant to point out that LH351D exists in neutral white (and high-CRI), and it's actually more common to see it that way in flashlights than the 6500K low-CRI that Acebeam uses. Sofirn, Wurkkos and Zebralight use nicer LH351Ds.

    Thanks for the video. I believe some of these issues are now addressed with the release of the M2R pro. However I can see what you mean with regard to the tail cap features and modes on the M2R. I personally think Olight should have given people a little more choice when it came to the configuration of the M2R tail switch features and modes. I think the 1500 lumen option should be a constant on option rather than the strobe feature. Or atleast it should have been an option. The strobe could still be there just not in place of a 1500 lumen constant on that is activeted by a full press of the tail switch. Also you're not alone about the strobe feature. It could be useful in certain applications, however, I have read a few comments written by people saying that they find a strobe feature in general a burden to use as it can be difficult to use without becoming distracted.
