    I wonder if the alternator will work with other brand power stations

    • @WhyWeLikeIt
      @WhyWeLikeIt 2 години тому

      I don’t think the alternator charger will attach to other brand power stations currently it uses an ecoflow cable called an XT150 cable that connects the ecoflow power stations together. The XT150 cable is also the cable that connects the power stations to the Wave 2 AC unit. I did see some talk about an output that may plug into a solar port. If that is something that they come out with I would assume it would output just like a solar panel.

      Thanks for the question - the Dometic can be powered by AC (110-240), DC (12 / 24 volt) so you should have no issues running it off a domestic plug.

    Would it make sense to upgrade the car battery or the car generator to get more benefit from this charger?

    • @WhyWeLikeIt
      @WhyWeLikeIt 9 днів тому

      Great question, thanks for the comment. I’m not a mechanic so I only have a basic knowledge on this but a higher amp output alternator would be more beneficial. I don’t know if it would add any benefit to the alternator charger itself but it may not be as taxing on the vehicle’s electric system. The alternator charger operates with an input voltage of 11V-35V, so in theory, any vehicle with a starter battery operating on a 12V or 24V voltage can use this product. Input of the alternator charger: Charging mode: 11V-35V, 76A Max Battery maintenance mode: 40V-60V, 3A Max Reverse charging mode: 40V-60V, 21A Max

      I’ve been running mine now for 2 weeks and it’s done great, I’m super thankful to have it. Especially for a long-term camping where I may have a car parked for several days, defenders are kind of notorious for depleting batteries if you’re in and out of the vehicle, I feel peace of mind knowing that I can reverse charge if I need a jump. You can turn the unit off as well if needed all from the app. I keep the voltage set on the alternator chargers app to 13v (meaning it will turn on and charge the power station as long as the alternator is putting out 13v + volts) I did once have to adjust the voltage down to 12v because of the Defender has some type of self adjusting smart alternator that can drop down the voltage if the vehicle is not needing the extra power. It only happened once but it’s something I am now aware of and I will monitor depending on my situation and need. So once you get it installed just learn how it interacts with your vehicles electrical so that you can understand how to best manage the system for your set up.

      Thanks for the question Nick! If you can fit it get the 35 for sure! I had to go with the 25L because of space (the table on the back door takes up some room when everything is folded up) depending on what we are taking with us I have had to get creative on packing somethings to make room. I guess one good thing about being limited on space is that packing the fridge has helped in meal prep and planning. But if you can get something bigger (even the 45L) try to do that. Have you run into any problems with the Defender voltage dropping below 13V thus it stops charging the Delta? Also, do you have to turn your Alternator on every time you turn off your vehicle? I'm just wondering if my Defenders alternator is not able to charge both the vehicles battery and the Delta. I drove over 2 hours and only charged my Delta 10% before the vehicle battery dropped below 13V and it never did go back up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My vehicle is a 24 Defender P400.

    • @WhyWeLikeIt
      @WhyWeLikeIt 24 дні тому

      I also have the P400 and have been running the EcoFlow alternator charger for about two weeks for testing. The defenders have some type of smart alternator that regulates the output as needed. I did notice what you’re talking about one time where it was under 13v for one of my daily drives. I normally leave the alternator charger at 13v and it works fine. But in scenario where I’m parked at a camp site and I need to charge up I would start the car, monitor the output, drop to 12v and adjust it back up once I’m finished charging. I also reached out to Ecoflow to see if they could add their app to Apple CarPlay so I could monitor the charging from the defenders center screen.

      Thanks for your question and for watching! I don’t personally have a Wave2 extra battery, I run my Wave2 directly from the Delta 2 Max so I can’t test the theory. But ecoflow waits the Alternator Charger powers up the WAVE 2 Add-On Battery independently and 8× faster than traditional methods-fully recharging 1kWh in just 75 mintues. What this means is you can charge it separately from the wave 2 so you cannot run the wave 2 and charge at the same time. But to answer the question yes it seems like you can charge the battery (just not while the wave 2 is plugged to it and running)

Hadn’t received any indication that my replacement was being shipped. Finally filled out a review that was sent to me from a Devos Outdoor. Gave the rating two stars with the reason that they need to work on their quality control and inspections before shipping. It’s typical that this review was never posted on their website. I even filled out a review on their website and it never got posted. I have seen other companies screen their reviews and only post favorable ones. This is not a good practice. I did some research for you and the Ozark Trail bag holds 3 3600 clear tackle boxes so if you want something similar in size do a search for a tackle bag that holds 3 clear 3600 tackle boxes!! You should be able to find something from 25 to 60 dollars. Another option would be look for something that holds an ammo can!!

    Pretty sure they say not to cook over this open yellow flame? Too much soot and gas residues

    • @WhyWeLikeIt
      @WhyWeLikeIt Місяць тому

      Thanks for the comment. You are correct, the more orange the flame the less air mixture burning with gas, which causes more soot. So it’s not wise to cook directly over. A good example would be cooking a hot dog or marshmallow right over the flame. The elite does have cleaner gas mixture so from time to time I use a griddle top, pan or pot because the food is not coming in contact with the flame itself.

    Any idea if the motion sensor or battery addon accessory for the 1200 are compatible with the 2000? Just bought a 1200 with both accessories like 3 months ago and considering an upgrade.

    Will the Bluetooth signal pass through the wall of an aluminum camper to the outside? Can the bottom tripod be removed from the pole so that the pole can be placed in a holder?

    • @WhyWeLikeIt
      @WhyWeLikeIt 2 місяці тому

      Great questions. I’m still experimenting with it but I can turn it on from inside the house so I’m assuming the unit would go through the walls of an aluminum camper. As for the tripod bottom, yes the pole can be removed from the base but please note that the pole is wider at the bottom than the 1200 pole. Also something I learned after making the video so I may have to make an update is that “Lights go into low-power mode after 8 hours of not being used. You may need to turn your light on again to re-connect”

      @@WhyWeLikeItone more question. If you remove the tripod what is the diameter of the pole? I want to make a holder on the back of my Jeep to hold the pole. Ordered the 2000 but don’t know when I will get it. Thanks

    • @WhyWeLikeIt
      @WhyWeLikeIt Місяць тому

      OK, the diameter of the pole is a little bigger than the one that came with the light ranger 1200. The pole that comes with the light ranger 2000 in inches is 1 7/16. So just under 1 1/2. Hope this helps!!

      @@davidk6668 If it's the same size as the 1200, I ordered extra poles from Devos and mounted them to the side of my Ruger trailer. I love the set up. I don't remember the diameter, but I couldn't locate anything the exact size. The poles from Devos also have the button lock to secure the light head, so it made it easy.

      Oh totally!! I inquired about it last fall at Overland Expo East. They told me something was in the works but they would not give away any secrets. I use my lightranger on a mount I have on top my vehicle so having it wireless keeps me from having to climb up the ladder to turn it on and off all the time. I am excited to get out and start using it.

      Yea I would say don’t try it. I think the Elite is great how it is right out of the box. The 1.18 jet that comes with it out of the box is a great size for cooking, putting off plenty of heat and also not using all your gas in one night. The hotter you get the output the more chance you can warp the body too.
