Spinning Of The Rocks - Rock Fishing Tailor and Jewfish
Half the fun is getting to a spot. Love fishing remote spots that take a bit of effort to get to. Often the effort is worth it as you will be rewarded with great fishing.
Always remember rock fishing is dangerous. Make sure you fish with an experienced person and know the location and conditions well.

Beach fishing Rig - How to use a Slider Sinker Clip.
Not cool. I’ve been in that situation before, about 40 years ago but it’s still very fresh in my mind. It had been in the water for days and wasn’t a pretty sight or smell. The body fell apart when the cops tried to retrieve it. Fish had been feeding on it also and was pretty much indistinguishable other than it was a human body. 3 days earlier a fisherman had been washed off the rocks at Honeycomb Port Kembla, this turned out to be him. You won’t forget this any time soon mate, I was 12 years old at the time, working as a deckie on a commercial boat.
Ohhhh man that's terrible I feel for you. That sounds horrible. Luckily for me I don't seem to have any issues with it and not affected now after a little time has passed.
@ It didn’t really affect me adversely mate, it’s just something I have never forgotten.
@barramundi1479 i understand . I'm sometimes reminded of it when I drive over that bridge to work
Very unlucky matey, although fortunately it was your goodself in finding the person in order for closures for the families concerned. I'm not going into details from my experience sixty years ago, however, I'm sure you'll be aware this remains inside your brains for evermore. It's always good to share this incident periodically and clears the mind . Love from Scotland ❤️
Thank you. I appreciate the msg. I'm just glad it was and not some family with kids on board
@ScaleUpadventures no probs young sir, You may need a laugh so here goes, A couple of years ago whilst removing my mooring ropes on my 16ft boat at Dunbar harbour in East Lothian Scotland (worth a visit on web) I was positive a "body " was below me in 10ft water in harbour, so I shouted out to a colleague on his boat to get a look, it was about 6ft long white face up eyes staring still. When he came over,to our surprise, it rolled over and only then we realised it was only Sammy our friendly harbour seal having a snooze upsides down. Fek it scared the hell in me until he moved and we just burst out laughing at my embarrassment. Cheers 🥂
@rha4374 hahaha that is a good laugh 😃 . Thanks for sharing that great story
Thats always bin my worst fear fishing
Yeah same here. I always felt like it would happen one day. Unfortunately, it did
Mate i found a body in a river in 2023, I was skippering a inland ferry at the time. It was an awful experience that has stayed with me. I found myself wanting to know more - like who it was and how it happened, even though i don't want to think about it. Its a weird feeling, definitely not something i wish on anyone.
Trust me your better off not knowing more. I found out more about this poor guy and it just made it worse .
Thanks for sharing
Your welcome
This is Redcliffe because this is where I fish for talapia
What kind of fish was it
Your taking Juvenile Prawns . Are you proud
Yeah sorry I forgot my tape measure. normly, I make sure I measure every single one of them before they make it in the esky. One day I measured over 300 prawns. Unfortunately, they all went off because it took me so long to measure them. (INSERT SARCASM HERE).Have a great day. Try not to lose any sleep over it tonight.
Better scale your fish somewhere else mate!
????
Where abouts in Moreton bay is this
Where abouts in Moreton bay is this
Northern end of the Bay
@ like Scarborough?
Where about did you go this time?
Hey mate down at mid north coast of nsw
Nice tips with the sands. Will try them next time.. Cheers mate.
No worries, you're welcome
Here in Uganda, in Victoria lake they average 2.5 kilo , one of the most best tasting fish in the world. native to Victoria lake.
Wow that's a good size fish
You did the right thing of not showing the body, may he rest in peace. And hope the family has there loved one back home.
Thank you. Yeah I would never find something like that. I have followed up with police and the man was identified and his family notified. I hope they are all well and have the man can rest in peace
Hey man where is this?
What is this spot called
Brisbane area
No a celestial body
You can’t release, But why not eat them?
Answers this question multiple times already. They don't want people to spread them into other waterways so they can catch them for food
So very sad.
Out of curiosity, do you not eat it after killing it? In our country, tilapia is a staple fish as food.
Unfortunately, in Queensland. you are not allowed to transport them, so you can not take them home with you. I think the government is worried about people spreading them into other waterways to be caught and used for food
I see. Thanks for that explanation. So do you just lay it on the ground or Queensland have a policy on how you should properly dispose of it?
@stephendeochua3961 you have to dispose of them in a bag and then in a local bin or bury them of yoy happen to have a shovel
Really fat garfish would of got some nice fillets. Where abouts you fishing mate?
Hey mate these are snub nose garfish. I was fishing up Brisbane way. They are a lot thicker built than the sea garfish . Both taste great
Wow! I've only just started beach fishing and like using a running sinker but was annoyed that the line was getting chewed up by the star sinker. This fixes the issue. Didn't know they even existed!! Thanks for sharing.
Your welcome they are very handy. If your local tackle ship doesn't stoch them I put a link in the comments to purchase through amazon
Maybe make rings out of them but you probably all ready ate it before I said this comment
Yes long gone now. And from memory I think we did do rings. Salt and pepper calamari
Strangely i have better luck at Cannons Creek in the higher up drier sand !
Well catch something 😅😅😅
I don’t understand 😢😢😢
Why can’t you keep it 😮😮😮
Declared a noxious species in Queensland not to be released or transported
Mate, great spot, I find that a ripple on the water makes them more inclined to have a go at surface lures. Well done with the ones you got.
Cheers mate . Definitely true I've always had more success on windy days also. Doesn't make great condition with the audio though.
Belt looks Awsome where did you get it from ?
Hey mate if you check the vedio discretion, I put a link to it there.
@ legend thanks heaps mate, that creek system looks beautiful too
Good work,we go a tilapia catch at Cudgen lake this weekend nth NSW 😊it was good to get a few hints .cheers Big Trev
Ahhh nice one mate. They are really good eating and you can keep them in nsw I believe?
You seem to pick some decent spots, we're moving to Thornlands in January, keen to find a few places like this where i can take my kids that are land based, when it's no good for the boat
Plenty of spots all over the place. Just go hating around at low tide . Get on google earth and use the timeline feature to find a picture taken at low tide and you will find some good spots.
I've never had a legal or bigger flatty fight before. Only the small ones fight like bulls for me 😂
I do find big flatties are pretty docile at first . Often just feel like a dead weight. But they do come alive when they see the net .
👍
Land based yayyy!!! That belt thing looks like it solves quite a few problems when fishing....
It's very handy while on the flats . Saves on getting sand and salt water all over your reel
I have always enjoyed fishing for gars. Nice vid.
Thank you. Yeah even though they are small fish they are a lot of fun to catch.
Just found your channel and just wanted to comment because man, as a fishing video creator myself I struggle to watch other people fish, but I really really enjoyed this. Well done ❤
Hey thank you so much for the msg. Realy appreciate it, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Duuude eat himmmm
Hahaha 😂
@ It really doesn’t make any difference if you cut out the filets before disposing it.
I wouldn't eat anything out of this pond. Maybe out of some cleaner water one day
@ Maaaan what i always hear americans say stuff like that. What’s wrong with the pond dude.
In California, it's worked out quite well, because Tilapia are food fish for Largemouth Bass, Pike and Muskellunge. And the Ospreys hunt them. We never seem to run out of Tilapia. By the way, the one you caught is a Mozambique Tilapia, also called Saint Peter's Perch, also found in the Sea of Galilee.
Thanks mate. Yeah I don't think they ate anywhere as bad as people say they are. Hopefully they change the law so we can harvest them for food
@ScaleUpadventures No problem 😊, always like to spread the knowledge. Makes the world a better place. Cheers, mate :)
Moving to brisbane in the new year, wouldnt mind picking your brains or maybe meeting up once there👍
All the best with the move where abouts in brisy you moving to? What sort of fishing you into?
@@ScaleUpadventures looking like the western suburbs at the moment around the Kenmore area. I'm into all sorts to be honest, river, sea, shore, boat.ive done most of it in the UK to be honest 👍.
@simontucker6747 good luck with the move. Hit me up when you're settled in and might be able to give you some locations to try hopefully get you a head start to get onto some fish.
@@ScaleUpadventures thanks so much👍👍
That's not really going to happen when you cast the weight will sink faster than the hook so that when the weight hits the bottom the hook is at its farthest point and has no free travel .
You just wind up the slack so the sinker hits the swivel. Then it's just a matter of holding onto your rod and giving slack when you feel the fish take it. If you fish with your rod on a holder, set your drag to allow just enough resistance for the fish to take the bait. Same concept is used with any running sinker rig.
Nice session, what area are yyou in, I am Toowoomba only freshwater here, fishing is tough.
Thanks mate. Brisbane area
You should take a subscriber out fishing!🤔 and it should be me!🤔😂
Maybe I should . Would have been a good thing to do on this day. Maybe I would have caught less grinners and more snapper
@ there’s been a few snapper getting around manly boat harbour!🤔 lost a knobby right at the rocks too, keep the grinners for the crab pot and hopefully their numbers drop.
@4_deeski426 I've heard some good fish get caught off there. I've never fished it before
So store bought tilapia is good (farmed) is good to eat than a wild raised tilapia. What a stupid law
Yep it is a stupid law. Was brought in because lots of people do stupid things. Including customs for allowing them into the country in the first place for aquariums.
G'day mate. A couple of years ago [ about 50 ] when I was doing my apprenticeship we had a couple of Doctors that used to go out from the Marina every 5 weeks when they had there rotation days. They would go out & back 3 days and catch nothing but Gar's. When we had to clean their boat it was sprayed in Garfish scale's, it was a shit of a job but that's what apprentice's used to do. The Dr's would get an esky full each day.
Yeah can get very messy. I know the sea garfish with the long beak drop there scales real easily. The snub nose garfish scales seam to not fall off as easily, which is a good thing.
Crazy you saying the tilapia you caught are small and you throw them away. That is definitely big and in many countries we eat them just like normal fish, they are way tastier than other fish from the US.
I knownits crazy but they are listed as a noxious species here and can not be taken home, moved or released
@@ScaleUpadventures agree 100%
Do any of you guys know if a senko works on tilapi
Would this be difficult cast ??
It can be of you tie thr leader to long. Keep it short as the sinker will run, and this will make casting easier.
Well done mate
Scary thats sad
