We still have Political/Military Morons leading us to disaster!
"It is magnificent, but it is not war." -French cavalry commander watching the charge
I can't wait to call my co-workers "stew sticks", "poltroons", and "bumrolls" and telling them to "fetch off".
Nothing has changed i see.
I am not French but shamefull how they misrepresented the froggies: it was their zouaves that climbed the cliffs where the RUssian thought nobody could, and managed to turn the flank of that strong defensive position. Saint Arnaud was indeed diying of cancer but not on that day. Well represented is the chance missed to avoid the siege entirely: the Russian were routed and instead of chasing and ride stiafght ino Sebastopol, they let them recover, because the allied commander had already assumed a siege was needed.
Bpth the French and the British attacked and took strong defensive positions but the british took more casaulties in the battle, not showing the french is nott he same as misrepresnting what they where up to.
It shows the useless Officer Class that bought their Commision’s with no prior military experience and who hated the common soldier.
That isn't how the purchasing system worked you couldn't simply buy a commission and to go up the ranks required a set amount of time at each rank as well, raglan had been a soldier since 1805 for example and fought in many of the battles in Portugal, Spai nand france that Wellington's army fought.
I thought I was watching Monty Python there for a minute. It seems the British Officer Class penned the phrase " Cannon Fodder".
the reign of stupidity of the stiff upper lip of the british empire 😂😂😂
Where the British won almost every single war... Also this was an extreme case where some genius put 2 people who despised each other in command of half of the cavalry each which caused a lot of problems o nits own.
I am not inclined to grieve for the hotheaded Capt. Nolan. In fact, his death was karmic retribution and moral justice as far as I am concerned.
My ancestor was in this battle. He was in the 15th Kings Hussars, as was my grandfather in India in 1890. The first one survived by being trapped under the body of his horse. 600 men charged the Russian Army. So, today this area is in Ukraine, while the Russians claim the Crimea is Russian.
Oh really Well having served in one of the regiments I think you’re rather fitting the campaign, which was a success, to fit your own political views. As I said I continue to celebrate every 25 October as do my old comrades. Mente et Manu
No Horses were hurt or killed in the making of this movie...137 Stuntman were mamed or killed...But Not 1 Horse.😮😮😮😮
While the Americans were getting ready to slaghter each other just because, The British invaded Russia on a prinicipal!
Hello, can i use this scene to a video about French Foreign Legion during Crimea?
Why kill strangers because strangers tell you to?
*Becuase*
What I don't understand is how the whole Labor Day was not wiped out to the last man I said it was a great military blender but I find it a miracle that the only lost 160 men and another one of England's greatest blunders thinking that money equals intelligence in that class in reality they got it backwards the more noble you are the more ignorant you are
"the more noble you are the more ignorant you are" That bit certainly isn't true, imagine thinking you can write off everyone from a paticular group based solely on their birth and "Nobles" by dint of being noble where some of the best educated people as a rsult. As for the purchasing system which is what I assume you're talking about you realise it stil had compulsary time at each rank yes? So even if you purchase your way up the ranks you still have to spend years learning the trade... The problem became curroption where people who should ahve been denied the right to go further then their competancy where not being denied due to a long peace like they used to be.
Good soldiers lead by upper-class twits.
Should we go again sir?
French General: The French Will Go In At The Left Flank and the english will go in through the front door? "knock knock" Lord Raglan: He's not well y'know? XD
Monty Python goes to Find Brian ??
As a russian i feel sorry for these men 😑
Same thing happened in tobruk? I lost tobruk, it was you who ordered the south africans to take the position while Australians were pulled back.
But the british casualty was mimimum not as grave as the situation the brigade was in.
It would be good if it was in focus
We can blame this battle for McClellan's refusal to use cavalry in the civil war and the ineffectiveness of the army of the Potomac's scouting ability.
British officers not much better than Nazis
bold statement, what do you think compares to the holocaust that British officers have done?
@@DelogrosOI BRUV YOUR COMING WITH ME MATE

Typical english copout, Not my fault, whilst the so-called officers were eating behind the front lines
So the english got their pants beaten off, too dang bad..some of the officers and a woman were enjoying a meal whilst the poor horses and the soldiers were on the field of battle..What a disgrace 😢
Not particularly it was fairly common in the time period to have people come watch over a picnic, happened in the US civil war as well.
A really good historical and military movie, but a british movie which doesn't mention the intervention of a French régiment of light cavalry (chasseurs d'Afrique) who charged and annihilate a russian battery on one of the side of the valley, so diminishing the FLB losses...
Why russian artillerist gives an order in polish?😄
6:50 my lord you have just ridden over his dead body. Lord Cardigan: (no fucks given) .. “Has anyone seen my regiment”
I miss Earl Flynn.
damals hat der Raubstaat England mit seinen borniert-inkompetenten Generälen aber ganz schön eine auf's Maul bekommen ....... lol
How many defeats have the colonialists suffered to learn their lesson?
Far less then their victorys
@@Delogros Times have changed, and for them the era of defeats has begun.
@@williammorellini5403 Times have changed, your own comment makes no sense I'm not sure there are any colonizers now - but FYI the colonizers have like a 80-90% win rate in modern times as well.
@@Delogros "FYI the colonizers have like a 80-90% win rate in modern times as well." Vietnam? Syria? Afghanistan? Ukraine? The hegemony of UK and USA is over. From now on I doubt there will be roses, but there will definitely be thorns. Especially with the Bidens and Hillarys.
Such a, stupid crowd of fucking pricks thousands and thousands of people killed and what the hell was it all for
lions, led by donkeys!
Disease claimed many!
Ours not to reason why But to do and die! A glorious blunder Like arnhem Monty said they can look back And say I was there!

Never accept military orders given by a civilian.
What a bunch of idiots.
The real enemy of the soldier is the incompetent officers and commanders.
Russian smoothbore muskets were no match for the British Pattern 1851 Minié rifled muskets - later the P53 which along with the Springfield M 61 saw much use in the A.C.W. There both sides were armed with rifled muskets hence the awful carnage at Gettysburg, Chickamauga, Spotsylvania and a host of other bloody encounters. The Crimean War, however, was shameful for lack of concern regarding soldiers (wounded men in particular), sanitation and provisions. Despite Britain having the world’s largest navy, battle casualties paled compared with the death and suffering by caused by gross military logistical muddle and incompetence.
Having said all that it one may observe, in mitigation, that the French and British were better dressed than the Russians and marched into battle with better music.
What a brilliant anti-war movie...shows the pure stupidity of war, and the pomp and "Glory" that is conjured up to perpetuate it. As a life long military man I can say that there is no glory in war, its just a stupid way to get homo-sapiens to kill one another, for old rich people to control others to their deaths as they march across a chess board.
There’s a phrase from star trek TNG by picard, I’m paraphrasing kinda…. “The phrase I was only following orders has been used to justify to many things/crimes…”
Jesus, what a waste of lives and good horses.
I believe😢Oh Shit,was heard on numerous occasions😉
