The Cooke Kinic, Cine Lens, A Lens Derived From A Petzval Design That Works With Micro 4/3 Cameras!
The Taylor Hobson Cooke Kinic is a lens design based on the original Petzval lens design. This vintage lens has some amazing out of focus background effects or Bokeh. It is a truly unique and fascinating lens that you can adapt to Micro Four Thirds cameras.
The adapter used to mount the 1 inch f1.5 D mount version shown in the video is a E. Leitz NY ZWTEL for focoslide. Another version for Summar/Summitar lenses is the ZWTOO.

    I buy OM gear for shooting wildlife and I'm pretty satisfied with it. To be honest I'm not really moved if street photographers seethe because they don't have pin-sharp weather-sealed pancake lenses, or because the 150-600 doesn't fit in their trouser pocket. 😂 Though didn't Thomas Eisl make a recent video where the Oly/OM 17mm Pro was described as a near-perfect lens in the industry? If it works why fix it, other than to satisfy GAS? "If you really need full frame, why don't you use medium format?" Yes! That's it in a nutshell. 👏

    MFT has to produce small cameras because that would be the only reason that would separate them from the competition. This is what made them market leaders a few years ago. And the market needs small camera because there is nothing like that these days. Since they make cameras as big as the competition that has FF sensors and the same price, they have absolutely no chance to survive. MFT producers must return to their origins, all MFT lovers are waiting for the sequels to the GM, GX, Pen, OM-D series, small cameras that can be taken anywhere, not huge bodies of the caliber of FF cameras.

    I've bought from MPB in the past but not from MBP. I have an E-P3 which I have always enjoyed the tactile experience of using. I bought mine four years ago from an eBay seller for £90 with a low shutter count and near immaculate (very slight mark to lcd). I bought an Olympus 14-45mm calapsable kit lens new for £79 to compliment. Four weeks later my Mother passed from Covid and I took some video after her funeral. There was marked clicking noises when the camera was pointed downward. A couple of months later I noticed a red flashing I.S. notification warning at the top right of the LCD. Investigation confirmed that this was indication of a fail state of the IBS system. Not being sure of the state at the time of purchase and having the Lumix lens with OIS I decided to ride with the situation, partly because the camera was so good to use and delivered great stills results. So I bought a Lumix G vario 14-45mm f3.5-5.6 ASPH (their earlier G series kit lens) for around £75 (GBP) and a Lumix DMC-G5, also around £75. A couple of weeks later I bagged a new OM-D E-M10 for £299. This has the later 5 axis IBS that works great for stills and video and saved buying an EVF for the E-P3. It had to be returned to Olympus under a 3yr warranty for repair to the EVF function after under 2500 actuations. In 1975 I had an OM-1MD and later an OM-10. The OM-1 never felt totally robust and the OM-10 only lasted a couple of years before failing with the manual adapter. In short, my conclusion would be that my Olympus cameras are less robust than my Nikons and the earlier 3 axis IBS may be somewhat less reliable than the later 5 axis generation. Of the 18 Nikon cameras I have or had, I have only had one fault.. that with an F-301 that I dropped. The mirror came adrift but was user repairable with the help of UA-cam. The D80 can also have issues with a nylon gear component. Hope this helps someone. 😊

    Hi Don, I‘m looking for an Olympus camera for taking pictures of garden birds. Since it’s a hobby only, I want to keep the costs as low as possible while still getting satisfying results. Some people recommend the Olympus OM D E M1 ii. However, isn‘t there an older or even other Olympus camera suitable as well? I mainly capture the birds while they sit on a branch or the feeder. So far, I ‚ve used a Bridge camera and the Sony a6000 with Kit Zoom (however not enough reach). Would appreciate your opinion on this matter. Thank you so much in advance.

    • @dongummphotography
      @dongummphotography 13 днів тому

      @silviasmucke The EM1 MkII would be a great choice. The EM5 MkII like I have would also be a good option and more affordable. The Olympus cameras are very popular with bird photographers. Their light weight and excellent image stabilization are a big plus, and the Olympus color science will produce beautiful images when shooting colorful birds. You would benefit from a longer focal length lens, something in the 300 to 400 millimeter range, and Olympus has some great options. Remember, with Micro Four Thirds cameras, the effective focal length is double. A 300mm lens on M4/3 is equivalent to a 600mm lens on a full frame camera. This is another reason Olympus cameras are popular with bird and wildlife photographers.

      @ScreamingEagleFTW the viewfinder windows are on the top and right side (as you hold the camera) you don't put your eye up to them but rather look into them with the camera held at chest height in front of you.

    Are you aware there is a pb with non responsiveness of the 2 control dials, or faulty responsiveness ? Or course there is a workaround using the arrow pad by pressing compensation which allows to access exp comp and f. numbers. Pity

      I had that problem with my first E-P5, the dials would skip. Apparently, the contacts can get gunked up. The solution that most people recommend is to spray the dials with DeoxIT lubricating oil. I tried that and it worked great for me after that.
