Color Grading Tutorial in Davinci Resolve for Beginners
geat review although with knowing your camera settings its hard to understand the brightnest so its not useful to me.
Soft focus can be overcome by a smaller f-stop.
Have you tried using simultaneously more than one set? If I use it for 2 or more camera setup, will the devices interfere? Thanks!
@@badattitudeproductions3028 great question, unfortunately I don’t have 2 sets to try this for you.
terrible tutorial , you don’t show where the transmitter or the receiver goes , on the camera ? , the receiver or the transmitter ? , on the monitor .. the receiver or the transmitter ? , you also seems to be in a rush for some reason … as I said : terrible tutorial for a beginner , wich are the people who comes to watch these channels , professionals already know how to use a hdmi transmitter and what is for , probably that’s why you have so few views . 😢
Nice touch starting the video already using it. I was surprised how usable the quality is in the center of the image. This will probably be way better with an APS-C crop.
Thanks! Yeah, I've enjoyed using it for speciel looks in my videos, thanks for watching :)
I think the review was better than the light itself. Great Job!
lol thanks so much!
Awesome... this video earned my subscription! I have the A7R2 and I'm experimenting with all kinds of adapted lenses and the FD 24mm is definitely on my shopping list! :)
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that. It's such a fun lens to use, I definitely want to make a small set of FD lenses so they all match together. Also, nice work you've done on your channel!
Thanks
@@_Gabyo_ you’re welcome! :)
Does it work with a camera cage?
Yes it does, it has a lot of space. I've used it with my FX3 with a cage and a 24-70mm lens and it balances perfectly well.
wow, thanks bro very helpful 🤩😍🤩😍
@@samankohzadi3781 hey so glad it was! :)
Hello how would you connect this device using Bluetooth device? Thank you
This device records internally so you won't need a wireless transmitter. Is that what you mean?
Great information. Good work man! It solves all my doubts on how LUTs are created. However, I have one problem when trying to do it myself. When I switch to timeline from clips (1:57) it doesn't have any nodes there and it's blank. May I know what's the problem or what mistake have I made. Appreciate!
Hey, glad it's helped you! and that happens if you delete the only and last node in the node tree, clicking Alt+S will add a new node and fix that for you, let me know if that did it for you :)
@@AndrikLangfield It works! Thank you so much! Finally someone who actually reply the questions after making the tutorial. Keep up the work man! Can feel the effort and enthusiasm you put into for your viewers!

hii, do you use slog3 cinetone?
Hey, I use Slog3 S-Gamut3.Cine on everything I shoot. I uesed to shoot HLG2 on my a7iii but now with a 10 bit camera, slog3 is incredible.
Boss move
@@tymonnogalski1016 thanks! Hope it helps :)
the Colors looks diffrent ins Davinci Resolve :(
Hey, how different does it look. It'd expect for it to look slightly different usually in a small gamma shift. But not major changes.
Thank you!
You’re welcome! :)
what does vertical shooting look light ? or would you just need to have a cage on your camera and mount it vertically
Good question, you’re right, this tripod won’t go vertical like a ball head tripod would so you’d need a cage and then simply mount the baseplate to the side of the camera :)

@@MoserTimmy Thanks so much man! Really appreciate it 👊🏼
Hello! Would this product work well for events in hotels where the distance is clearly less than 600ft? I want to connect a laptop to the transmitter and the receiver to an Epson projector to display the laptop image on a screen. Would the projector image appear 100% smooth, just like on the laptop?
Hey, great question, I have not tried it in that scenario and but I believe it would work just fine. I’ll test it later on my home projector and see how it holds up 👍🏼
@@AndrikLangfield Thank you!
@@AndrikLangfield Any update to this?
@@DavidNiedbala Thanks for the reminder. Just ran a quick test and the results were unusual. Both my FX3 and a7iii will display video perfectly fine and smoothly on my TV but as soon as I plugged my laptop or my PC into the transmitter there was no signal so, unfortunately, I don't think this would be a good option for the laptop scenario described above.
Amazing Job Brother!
Hey, thanks so much Jericho! I've enjoyed keeping up with your videos, hope you're doing well :)
that was amazing bro!
Wow thanks so much! I appreciate it 👊🏼
Doesn't work for me. Weird.
Hey, do you have two monitors?
@@AndrikLangfield Yes. It still does not work. This is a feature I wish worked exactly like Premiere because I use it often.
Sorry to hear it didn’t work for you, I find it sometimes doesn’t work the first time I boot up resolve but after I manually select full screen timeline, it seems to work after that. I do wish that this feature was included, one of the things I miss the most!
@@AndrikLangfield I'll try again but I probably won't use it anyway because I use one monitor for the app and the other for a full screen preview, rather than the app on both. Overall I'm very happy with Resolve but there are (so far) 3 really important missing features for me. Never going back to Premiere though.
Perfetto ...
Glad it was helpful!
Do you not make secondary nodes (for example to select skintones) when you create a LUT? If so, why not? Thanks this is great :)
Hey Lucio, great question! Those types of adjustments are best suited for a shot-by-shot basis. When I'm creating a Look LUT that’s intended to be applied across many different clips, making shot-specific adjustments isn't recommended, like qualifiers. You always want to make the most non-destructive adjustments as possible. For example, I use the most smooth curves as possible and very gentle tweaks in the HSL adjustments rather than harsh, strong color shifts or hue swings which could break your image when the LUT is applied in different scenarios. Hope that makes :)
@@AndrikLangfield I think I should have the camera manufacturer conversion to 709 somewhere in this. I exported a LUT following your tutorial and put it on a Shogun monitor to view my footage on set but it was applying the LUT I created without any conversion, so I need to put in a node somewhere to tell what colorspace to convert to.
That’s 100% correct, I missed to mention in the tutorial that if you’re intending to use it as viewing lut on your monitor, you need the CST included. I’d place it first in your node tree or close to the beginning. But I recommend that once you come back to Color grading to apply the cst and then a Rec 709 version of your lut seperately as it’s useful to grade under the cst, in between the cst and lut and after the lut for different effects.
Do you get a good stabilisation even tho the lens is not Sony? I’m thinking of getting that body
Yes, it’s a great lens, especially with the FX3 active stabilization. You do crop in a little for active but it’s excellent. I use active sometimes with some vintage lenses I own and that works really well. Most of this video was shot just using the standard stabilization and that seems to be enough especially at 24mm, I did stabilize some shots in DaVinci resolve to get rid of some little jitters. Also might be worth mentioning that at 24mm I have noticed the active mode on the camera sometimes gives you a little of corner wobble effect, but only in active. Hope that helps :)

Hey I’m so glad it was 👊🏼
lot of shortcuts, need to explain that
@gilbertsatria I can’t remember which ones I used in the video but the most useful to me are creating nodes before and after, alt+s makes node after your current node and shift+s makes a node before your current node :) hope that helps 👍🏼

Is the latency too much for focus pulling?
Hey, excellent question, watch this section here of the video: 1:24 I don’t own a wireless follow focus so I wasn’t able to test it but did read online other people that tried it. Also found this helpful Reddit post about latency for focus pulling that might be helpful: www.reddit.com/r/cinematography/s/XLUaV9twhS
It’s got a couple ms of latency, but it’s not terrible.

How about adapting this to a macro lens.
Great idea, I had never tested it and just did to see what would happen and the results were pretty cool. The only macro lens I have is the apsc 60mm 2.8 by Canon so what I did was I adapted the Canon 60mm 2.8 on my FX3 so it did have a little vignetting which is manageable and then put a x.06 wide angle adapter and it worked really well. The close focus was inside the wide angle lens meaning I focused on the dust on the front of the wide angle adapter and beyond it, so for example I placed it facedown on my cellphone and focused right up to the screen, if that makes sense, and then made my phone screen go out of focus by focusing closer than that. lol thanks for the idea, I'll definitely be using that combo more often 👍🏼
Thanks so much! It looks really soft and clean, very nice work dude :)
