This channel is here to share fishing and boating knowledge. We fish out of Raritan Bay NJ and frequent the wrecks and reefs off the coast of Monmouth County. I also do my own boat and engine maintenance. At times you will see videos that will show you how to perform some of these tasks.

Is it necessary to run anti-freeze through the outboard engine? I have not come across any videos on this topic. I have a Yamaha F300.
@@energystream4100 they say the 4.2 drains out completely, but I do it anyway. It doesn't cost much.
Awesome and extremely helpful video! Also thanks to Tom Whitlow comment for the tip on removing the taillight. ARE Revo truck cap on GMC 2024 Denali HD. Hardest part was getting the video lead through the truck bed and down behind the left taillight bc that is where the truck cap's wires were also run -- would not fit with both or even 1 protective tubing. What worked for me -- I pulled the plastic protective tubing off from the cap wires and then taped the video wire to two of the cap wires and fed it through both holes, then reattached the protective tubes to each set of wires from top and bottom. For the hole into the rear seat, I used a 1/2 drill bit through the hard plastic cap and then a 2 inch grommet siliconed to sit on top of the hole/plastic cap, then siliconed from both sides. Really happy with having the rear view camera back again after 2 months of looking through the tinted cap glass.
@@RichKiphuth great tips Rich. Thank you for the comments.
What size was the tubing that you purchased from the hardware store?
I'm not 100%, but I think it was 5/8ID. But that was a couple years ago. When you order the pump, read the specs on the barbed end fittings it comes with.
@ I just read it has to be vacuum rated…I guess I’ll just get at west marine….also are you near point pleasant by any chance?
Pressure not speed
Dear sir - thank you for this video. Is there a way I can Venmo or PayPal you money for this video?????? It has helped me tremendously. This isn’t spam or a robot. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Mechanic replaced the purge valve, evaporator canister and did a smoke test and the p1450 code is still appearing. Any others causes for the culprit? I’ve noticed the check engine light comes on quicker when placed in sports mode
@@anthonyshowrock it's usually valve. Did he clear the code? Maybe the new valve is bad? Like someone returned the old valve to Amazon.
@@4RibsFishing all ford oem parts. Do you think it could be the gas Octane? Im going to fill it up with premium and see if it makes it go away
How is towing or when the truck is under sustained load for a brief amount of time?
I tow a 30' boat, approximately 10k. A little deeper if you were to punch it- but I drive easy with a load. I don't notice a difference.
@ very helpful. Thank you
I want the 4 dollar cans...Here in the Netherlands I pay 20 Euro for this same gallon bottle...
@@Yiasya wow! What does fuel cost there?
@@4RibsFishing gasoline E5 is €2,10/liter or €7.94/gallon and diesel €1,65/liter or €6,24/gallon. And that's if you get it at a fuel station for cars. When I fuel up in a marina it's atleast 1 euro/gallon more.
I have a hard time believing those self tapping screws aren’t gonna come loose. I’ve never seen anyone not bolt one on. I’d be curious how three years later it held up.
@@yourmedicareguylarrybelt7792 I used self tappers to test the position of the plate. It's fully through bolted with backing plate, washers, and lock nuts.I just rewatched my own video- I did say that I temporarily installed the plate with self tappers.
I see pumps that are 5 gpm. Has anyone tried going with more GPM ? My pump pressure sucks. So if that's a sign of it going bad and I only had the boat 3 years. Well I bought it used. So I don't remember having a lot of pressure from day 1. Has anyone replaced their pump with a bigger one.
Eliminate the easy stuff. Like the sprayer and hose. If it's bad at the shutoff valve I'd say you need a new pump. 3 years of salt water in the pump is all I get.
Thank you
Your video is very good and very detailed. My outboard motor also had a blockage in the cooling part, but I have one question: I don't know how to find the part numbers for these seals, such as 6CB-24482-00 and 6CB-14239-00. I would appreciate it if you could let me know. I look forward to your reply.
Go to partsvu.com and look for engine schematics. Then look up your motor and you will see detailed pictures with part numbers.
@@4RibsFishing I found it, thank you very much.
@@4RibsFishing Your video is the best on the internet because it's very detailed, includes the part numbers for replacements, and provides individual explanations. It's extremely helpful for amateur repairs like ours. After watching your video, I plan to buy some tools to maintain my own outboard motor.
@@haiwang001 thank you!
shouldn't that say starboard?
I have 2 motors. That lower must have come off the port engine. I see that I did mark 'port' on the 'starboard' side of the motor. Is that what you mean?
nvm
Great video. , was that the first time you replaced filters on vst you said you have 900 hours should I be looking to change my filters I have 400 hours on my 250. I change my other filters religiously and flush.
@@garystraube9235 that was my first time. Good gas helps the filters. But those cooling passages get gunked up no matter what you flush with.
Poor maintenance
Those reals get a lot of use and they still look and operate like new, so I'm doing something right.

Thanks for uploading nice video, what kind of water hose did you use and where to buy?
I used 3/8 silicon hose bought online siliconehose.com. But if I did it again I'd try harder to find a roll of Yamaha hose.
@@4RibsFishing You are right, I couldn't find yamaha hose at all online, i have triple yamaha 300 outboard,, I will trying this weekend to connect them,I really appreciate your video. Any place to get yamaha hose? They are selling very short yamaha hose not the roll.
I forgot to follow up with you following my succesful installation of the Rhodan 96. It's working like a charm and what a difference to have the capability to lock on to reefs and shut the engines off! Truly a game changer. So, thanks for the detailed videos on both the motor and electrical installation. Definitely made my life easier. On another note I was wondering if you've changed out the bungee cords on the below gunnel rod holders. I've ordered the cord online (3/16" diameter) and I guess I'll just size up the appropriate crimps once I have the cord. And advise?
@@bryanlandry1290 I did swap them out. The factory uses 8ga electrical but splicers. Just make sure to get the tinned ones to hold up in the salt.

Shame on Garmin to be selling inferior transducers. My GM 20 is only 2 seasons old and my Garming 5 striker is unable to connect with the transducer. I had a Raymarine before without any problems for years until it was stolen off the boat. Garmin should do a recall and replace FOC
In my case the transducer was made by Airmar. They do have a warranty, but mine was outside of that.

The breather line will always have some oil vapor residue. Yours sounds excessive. I would try a compression test to see if your rings are worn.
Awesome video! Were you experiencing symptoms or was this just for maintenance?
Just maintenance. Thank you for your kind comments.
I agree with ATR-42 Really grateful for your efforts. The part number help and all is great. I will say there is a super helpful and very simple way I've found to dispense ATF fluid. Use a piece of small tubing 1/4, 3/8, 1/2... as an artesian well kind of setup. Drill the cap with a uni-bit. Carefully drill it out to just slightly smaller than your tube. Cut at an angle on one end... makes it easier to push the tube through the cap and also allows the fluid to flow through from inside the bottle. Push the tubing all the way to the bottom of the quart bottle. Now you can simply squeeze the bottle of ATF same as Ketchup. Also, 3/16 or 7/32 drill through the top spout of a Dawn dish soap bottle and 1/4 tubing works great this way.
Thank you for the kind feedback and sharing that tip. I will definitely be trying that next time.
No bathroom?
It has one. Unfortunately the cameraman (me) didn't check to see if the camera was recording.
You missed one
Where? What one?
You should ask about the 40k dollar mark up from invoice on these boats. Dealers don't do much outside of taking money out of your pocket for minimal service.
Order online for cheaper internet price.
@@aportilla007 Have you ever ordered a boat on the internet? I tried in 2021 and didn't have any luck. Ran into "Let me refer you to the local dealer in your area" multiple times. Local dealer didn't have those same prices or were already so backlogged on orders it would take over a year to get my boat. It shouldn't matter where I live and dealers do that to maintain their oligopoly.
@@nickwinn I have not ordered a boat online - right now I own a Whaler, but will move into an Everglades in the future. 2021-2022 all builders where having issues. It might be different now. Also, you can get a better price at a boat show.
Do you know where the location of the pressure valve control.
It's on top of the motor. Right rear. I'll be doing mine this winter too!
Would that cost a over heating problem on idle, because mine overheat in idle and when I put it in gear works fine, I did changed impeller, checked thermostat looks good.
Thanks for the video, I just built my first rod leash and will work on my second one tomorrow. Very instructional and easy to follow. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
You are very welcome!
Amazing, exactly what i need. I have a strange issue that i hope could be dolved by cleaning out the vst. I have a 2011 f250d. Its mounted on a Phantom 21 Speedboat. When i take it out in larger waves and jump with it, or get alot of movement. Suddenly the engine doesnt wanna rev past somewhere between 4000rpm and 4800. Differs from everytime. It runs perfect up to that rpm then it bogs. Seems like it wont get fuel to rev past it, no warnings or anything. Then i stop the engine, pump the fuel bulb, and restart, usually that fixes it. Then it happend again next time i get alot of movement on the boat.
@@simonhaugenkolstad8561 so your motor has two pumps. Low speed and high speed. Low speed fills the VST. High speed delivers to the motors. After you eliminate the cheap items (filters) you may need to look at how the tank gets filled. There is a float, a check valve, and a pump, one or more of these may not be performing.
@@4RibsFishing thanks i saw this. And a pressure regualtor. So to be sure, the outside pump is filling the vst? And the innside pumo is high pressure? Or opposite. How much did the gaskets and filters cost for you? Just one of the intake gaskets is 200$ where i live... No US website delivers to Norway. Also checked the outside pump price. It was 1300$ and the inner one was 500😅

Somebody please tell me why you cannot simply just wire brush those anodes and put them back in. They show almost zero wear, only sea water crud. YAM wants stupid money for an anode. Made of quite possibly the shittiest metal on earth. Were they a buck or two a piece? SURE, toss em.
@@lbowsk I probably could have. I did that project sooner than it needed to be done.
Excellent video! Was even easier todo than shown. Just had my starboard 2023 F300 with only 260hrs shutdown and refuse to restart. Figured it was the fuel filter, watched your vid, changed it in literally less than 5 minutes and we're back up and running. Thanks
@@KieranCox thank you. There's more F300 videos on the channel. Please subscribe!
What makes filter fill up and leak down half way..fill up and back down. Every 30 secs it fill to top and back down
Your low speed pump aka take up pump fills the filter and your VST tank. Your high speed pump sends it to the motor from the VST.
