@Eilley-official thanks for your comment. I think there’s a time and place for Shopify but WordPress will also be better in my opinion since Shopify cannot be transferred to another type of content management system which frustrates users wanting to switch to woo commerce on WordPress.
Another great video, Angelina!

This is super helpful friends!!!!
So glad! Thanks for the support ❤
A late comment: With the oversaturation of the job market, recession and AI graphic apps on the rise, you made the right choice at the right time!
How did you get on with Java script. I’m struggling with the design and user experience side of web design. I always thought graphic designers would make great web designers
What if you’ve tried both and hate both 😂😩
Oh no! That’s ok. That just means this is not a good fit for you. You’ll find your thing!
Not to discourage you, but I think you are in for a world of hurt. Design is not what it use to be. Noone is using photoshop illustrator anymore. Now its large integration asset packages and software. It's about software architecture design with UI UX. So you won't find any true design anymore in the web deveopment world. True creativity is being controlled unfortunately by engineers now. Universal standards are being set everywhere which means very little flexibility and artistic chouces can be made anymore.
Hi Tom! Thanks for tuning in. But I respectfully disagree. If you are working for a large company that has the budget for designers and developers then I can see using specific UX software. However I run a web design company catering to small business owners and all the designers I know use Adobe in this space.
@@modernizemysite yeah I’m not really sure what industry you work in and maybe that is the difference. But I’ve worked in software and web development for over 20 years. I worked on pretty much every platform out there, language bases, company apps like Indianapolis Motor Speedway, American motorcycle Association, Salesforce, Motorola, Six Flags, Draft Kings, Airline apps, Papa Johns, both small and large companies, design agencies, consulting companies, as well a contractor, full-time employee and even owned my own businesses. and I’ve seen the number of graphic designers dwindle to pretty much nothing. I have some pretty high-end lead software designer friends in the industry and they haven’t touched photoshop in years. Figma, sketch, Invision are universally used instead as well as most designers are reaching into marketing and SEO tool sets these days. But very few designers are actually creating buttons, graphics and web tools these days from scratch. They are actually using higher in packages that consume already produced tool sets where assets are already given to you and you have to conform to the standards of Adobe, Microsoft or other various open standard design models. For instance if you work in iOS, android or any hybrid mobile space, you aren’t even allowed to cut your own graphics you have to use the standards that are set by those platforms and Apple won’t even allow you to design your own assets you have to use theirs. And most web application development companies that use scripting languages such as react, angular or react native use very specific open source tool sets for design like material-UI, bootstrap, theme-UI, etc; I was a UI UX front end lead dev for years. Every time I tried to get a software team to adopt custom graphics for a project, I would lose out in favor of the lead team project manager or director usually going the way of UI library route probably because they came from a software engineering background. Which is a whole other discussion I could go down that road on. We started to see the end of true graphic design when designers lost control of the web and engineers started taking over around the same time you saw flash player and other rich multimedia design tools going away along with third-party players. It may help to also know that I was a former 3-D modeler artist and used to do 3-D photorealism design and animation for web graphics and that completely went away as well when we lost our 3-D environments and websites got away from rich Internet applications RIAs and we moved into the dumbed down HTML5 territory, but again that’s a whole other conversation I could talk about for hours.
Absolutely. No disagreement there if you are working with corporate clients.
Elimentor
They need to stop demanding that all graphic designers start coding. Most of us are visual.... I've been trying to learn html and css since the 90s and can't get it. I get angry at companies who can't separate these types of jobs.
I understand for sure. It seems like a lot of jobs are jack-of-all-trades positions. I personally niched down to web because that’s what enjoy. But there’s power in niching down to what you love, including design. Thanks for your feedback!
u cannot stop them its multimedia nowadays not GD anymore now u have to do all not just graphic sht EVEN IF I HIRE U, U WOULD BE JACK OF ALL TRADES FOR ME LOL AND MAKE SOME MORE VIDEOS!!!!
i am a college student debating on whether i should major in graphic/digital design or web development. i’d like to do both, like you. Design and code as well so I’m not sure what option is best for me😓
Hi Paola! Thanks for your comment. Why not do a little of both right now and see what your prefer? It took me a long time to decide to niche down to web design. It doesn’t the have to be an immediate decision. If you have to declare a major you can either code or design in your spare time. I hope that helps!
@@modernizemysite thank you!
Thanks for sharing! I am a graphic designer/photographer and also looking to become a master of one thing. Still trying to decide what it will be but web development might be my choice as I am learning HTML and CSS now and been enjoying it a lot. How is your transformation going on? It's been almost 2 years since you posted this video.
Hi Agnese. Thanks for your feedback! I hear you. I love the visual aspect of graphic design and photography too. I found that web design has a healthy dose of that still so it’s a good balance for me. Niching down was one of the smartest decisions I could have made. In that time I’ve partnered with another web design business and we’ve grown exponentially. We build Wordpress websites for small businesses. I’ve also just had my first child. So things have been a bit crazy but in the best possible way. I would love to make a follow up video to this one soon. Thanks again for writing in and best of luck on your journey!
@@modernizemysite wow, congrats, so good to hear that! :) Your story inspires me and I'd love to see a follow up video!
Is there difference in terms of fasting load?
After a few years I’m starting to favor Elementor now. They seem to have better support with WordPress. While I haven’t checked the stats on load time I’m willing to bet Elementor is faster due to support alone. But there are a lot of factors that affect site speed. Having minified code is definitely one of those though.
Is it hard to find a job as a graphic designer? Because I like it but I'm kinda scared.
That depends on a lot of factors like where you live, what the job market is, etc. But starting in a field like marketing is a good way to get your foot in the door as a graphic designer. I would say don’t be scared but instead be the best and you’ll find work with a good work ethic and determination.
@@modernizemysite Thank you. I'll consider it 😊
Wp bakery and elementor are not comparable. Elementor is a website builder, ergo, you can start with a basic theme and build the header, footer and the pages ... edit I suppose global templates etc. While WPBakery is just a page builder, it doesn't do anything else to the website. If you had to compare... you should be looking at Visual Composer and Elementor.
Thanks for watching and for your feedback!
Hi!!! This is me right now. It doesn't come easy to me and I almost glaze over after an hour of class. I came to youtube to see videos from a graphic designer like me who is transitioning to front end web dev to inspire me again on this journey.
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching and keep on coding Damola!
Scrolled past a wall of dudes to watch a web design video by a woman. Thanks for posting this! Very helpful.
I’m so honored you thought so! Thank you so much for tuning in and your very kind words :)
Webflow is $16 a month (paid yearly); I could find much cheaper Wordpress plans but if I'm running a business I don't want to be on cheap shared hosting that vulnerable and compromises other things so honestly for a quality host you'll probably be paying close to that. Wordpress CMS, blogging platform kills Webflow (as well as Squarespace, Wix) but Webflow IMO is a great option if you want everything within that ecosystem (no need to search for dozens of plugins, and keep updating themes)
Great spin on things!
So helpful ☺️ thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Waiting for your next video
Thanks for tuning in!
@@modernizemysite welcome!
do you know of any issue related to posts made with elementor not showing up if the website is seen with older OS like ios 9?
Hi Steve! Thanks for tuning in! Offhand I don’t. Sorry! Maybe Stack Overflow or Reddit has some insights.
Wordpress + Elementor is the way! Thank you, great video btw!
Fantastic! Thanks for watching!
I agree for someone who is a designer or not a coder to use elementor but for someone who is working on a complex website with multiple integrations I would say WPBakery is much much better.
I got out of this field well over a decade ago when clients stopped caring about quality and just started putting emphasis on bare-boned cost by hiring the services of third-world, pennies-on-the-dollar, cheap freelancers who come in at $25 overall and come away with not only that project, but everything the client needs done... Forget it!
I hear you! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I used Elementor and Divi a lot, they are excellent! I currently use Brizy which is very easy to create and develop websites. Clean and highly dynamic. I read a lot about WP Bakery, it has a lot of history, it was Visual Composer and today it is WP Bakery! I'll try with him, I liked what I watched.
Thanks for watching and telling me about Brizy. I’ve never heard of it but it sparked my interest. Thanks!
your content is helpful mam.. thanks...
Glad to hear that! Thanks for tuning in!

I started learning Elementor last year and love it. I have acquired a project to update my sister's website and it was constructed with WP Bakery, therefore I am starting to learn how to use it. Having the skill to work with both page builders will be great. Thanks for the video.
Hi @eephilosophy Yes! I couldn't agree more! WordPress offers many types of builders and it's helpful to be knowledgeable in different types so you can use more themes. Thanks for the comment and for watching the video!
I left Graphic Design. I studied design from 2009-2016. Got a 2 year and 4 year degree. Towards the end I started learning 3D and kept doing it while working as a designer. ( taking bootcamps etc ). But I got tired of the industry. It didint matter how good I was and how much more I knew vs my peers. Im Black so I get "You sound different than how you look." or you dont "Fit the culture". Mind you I was very business savvy type of designer. I really cared about brands, problem solving and so on. But most of the industry just wants to redecorate the wheel VS defining it. So I left my job and transferred my skills to creating products. Things people can hold. And My pay doubled almost overnight. Instead of making designs for others, I make them for myself and sell them. So one design (1-3 hours of drawing) pays an entire month wage at my old job. So Now i work 1-5 hours a week, ship some packages and am free. ( studying bootcamp 3d in my free time to satisfy that tech art side of myself ). And now I plan to join a trade Apprenticeship . To learn the skills to make my own house with my products as extra income and 3d/art as a hobby.
That is an AWESOME story to hear! I'm sorry you faced such diversity in the beginning. But, man, good for you! That's an inspiring story for sure!
Yes I love you, I haven't even started working yet but I already know that is the way I need to go. I already feel so unhappy even though I love creating & I'm really good, I feel like working in a corporate setting will suck the life out of me. Especially with the black thing, sometimes the best way is to make your own way.
You became a product designer? How did you enter the field? I love graphic design myself but I feel the field is very saturated and it's difficult to stand out, and I'm a bit burnt out from it all.
Great info! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for tuning in.
I'm pretty adept with both but I prefer WP Bakery
why ? can you explain it?
@@rafsanjawad108 Sure. Though Elementor is great. Outside of it's mobile settings available in the free version, and a few advanced settings in the free version, I don't see where it exceeds WP Bakery. WP Bakery has better integration with other plugins like Woocommerce for example. I think many of the elements are better constructed and more creative depending on what kind of site you are building. Even custom post types like portfolios, team members, testimonials, galleries, are better in WP Bakery in my opinion. Also, it doesn't have nearly the amount of issues with things like Yoast and automatic post notifications as you have Elementor. Because Elementor is so intrusive, many core WordPress operations don't work without customization. For example, If you build a page in elementor and don't select a featured image and you paste the link in Facebook, he link will show a default empty image. It doesn't gel well in that manner. I will give you that it's a slightly more advanced version of Weebly so newer website builders may find it easy, but it's not necessarily the best in my opinion. I do use it pretty frequently in my work though.
Very well said @terry carter
@@TerryCarter I think why people keep liking Elementor is because they are designers with minimal code experience or no-code experience at all. They just want to drag drop elements whereas you can build a very complex website with WPBakery. You still can with elementor too but it would take forever. I use customized WPBakery 99.9% of the time.
@@1tansu1 I totally agree! You are absolutely right! I also love how you can make theme specific custom elements for WP Bakery!
Great) And very interesting. I love Elementer, but time-to-time must create sites by Elementor and Bakery. Let's public more videos!
Right, I run into that too @Igor where I use both Elementor and WP Bakery. You are right! Thanks for tuning in!
I remember you having a lot of graphic design experience from previous videos. Do you think this is required in order to become a web designer?
Hi Daniel! Not at all. I think it's helpful to have a background in design but it seems the job outlook is even more favorable for those who can combine code + design. If you're interested in learning web design I would start on that path and sprinkle in design classes when you can through online portals like Udemy, Skillshare, LinkedIn Learning, etc. It's helpful to know the basics of layout design, color theory, and typography.
