hammer is such a frustrating special to use, in theory though, it’s really powerful
Angle Shooter, I feel it's concept is interesting, but like in the video is poorly executed. There is 1 big change I'd like it to have. When grounded, it deploys your shot at a trip wire. While in this state it still locates but adds the benefit of the line doing damage. My goal is to give it flexibility. Allowing quick kill potential with it's range for skill shots, but allow it to take a more defensive approach. I'm sure the numbers on how long the line will last before disappearing (even when deploy) as well as the other properties will still need to be tweaked. I don't feel like there isn't any other way to improve the sub without over-tuning it or reworking it to do something relatively different.
ok but i would GLADLY take line marker as a substitute for my dream explosher + burst bomb kit, because the line marker is painfully satisfying for something so ass.

Another thing that makes having multiple new weapons instead of third kits bad is that in my opinion, the new weapons just suck or are just boring/lame to play with little unique gimmicks like painbrush and nova. Sure i love having recycle brella, big swig, and dousers, but not more than having actual fun kits on my fav weapons

Admittedly, I'm kinda bitter over S2 Inkbrush Nouveau and lightweight baller. I'm proud it reached the heights but it basically murdered all middleweight ballers with the nerfs it caused to all ballers, and as an already suffering Glooga main that crime was unforgivable-

never lol. it's the most common in A or S rank probably (bc that strat works below S) but even in top 500 X lobbies you still see the occasional suicidal brush. it is a lot less common tho

Das me. :3 But in all seriousness, all Hammer needs consistent protection in rush mode and the AOE radius buff to be toned back (4 units -> 3 units) and it’d be an awesome special. As is, I love it for its flexibility and mobility, but getting cancelled in Stamp when you really shouldn’t is bullshit and feels awful.

7:30 The worst part is that if Ultra Stamp's protection actually worked, I'd argue it has better synergy with Inkbrush than Kraken. But we just don't live in that world.
It'd definitely be comparable but honestly I don't think stamp has quite the same "you have to deal with me for an extended period of time" effect that baller does, and gets more value from its quick up close kills (something brush already kinda did).
@@ajmoment8091 It's also a downgrade simply for the dumb reason that in late Splatoon 2 they decided that baller should have weight classes that disproportionately buffs some ballers and nerfs exactly ONE. (I'm still lowkey pissed about this because all ballers then suffered nerfs because of light baller but I have to point this out)

No joke, I used to think that the permanent ink brush was literal. I was very new to S2 and thought that kit names meant that you could "custom"ize the kit or that the ink would stay forever

Seriously though my biggest issue with the content we kept getting was that it really felt like the *bare minimum* content…for 3 month long waits. 8-10 weapon kits that have a 50/50 chance of being terrible or alright is not motivating enough for player retention. It didn’t help that the maps they released (until September 2023) were incredibly lackluster and nearly the exact same. Getting repeated kits is absurd too, like Glooga Deco Dualies getting Neo Machines kit, and BASE GAME WEAPONS (Range Blaster, Bamboozler, Hydra) not getting kits until MAY 2024 which is nearly 2 years after launch is actually insane

Reef deco is my currently my favourite weapon in the game and taught me how to use splash wall. Vanilla reef also very fun. Dont let this guy stop you from trying this main weapon
Maybe this is just a hot take but: There were 91 kits in S1, 139 in S2, 143 in S3. So strictly speaking we have MORE choices than we did in previous games. Additionally when we account for all the different possible team comps we have about 16,701,684 different possibilities for a team assuming that each play is using a different weapon. 18,163,859 possibilities with repetitions(such 2 splashes), 12,895,244 possiblities assuming that use at least 1 cooler weapon. How are we short of content? Are we REALLY short of content or even options? I would also like to point out that despite the "dominance" of pencil, it was a team using the Naut and Edit that won King's Cup. I think there is a lot more to this game than is given credit and that a lot of players have simply stopped trying, or experimenting with different ideas. Instead for the most we look to the top players, see lets say 20 weapons and then call out for 3rd kits because limited options when there is NO WAY even they have played every possible combination of weapons. Now if we want to talk about the flavor fail of not including 3rd kits on the 3rd game which also placed a heavy significance on the number, then I'm all ears.
I also want to say thank you for this vid. Back in prochara chat I got clowned for being the only person demanding custom kits over 3rds. It'll be too unbalanced, the devs would have too much to fix, every excuse in the book came out. Look at those ppl now tho, uncaring as they've moved on and no longer care about a game they helped csp the greatness of. I have over 1600hrs in sp3, casually at that. I love this game and it could be so much more but unfortunately, it's still under the Nintendo umbrella. There's no new f zero, the Kirby games downgraded, mk9 is only going to have 4 new maps.. Sometimes it's just baffling trying to understand wtf all the things companies will do except give pll wtf they want. Idk, gaming isn't really possible for me right but for wst it's worth, splatoon has definitely been my favorite shooters and has firmly cemented itself in my top5 goat shooters Cod black ops Titanfall 2 Splatoon 3 Lost Planet 2 Advance Warfare (cod movement shooters in general ngl, I was never the scrubs begging for 'muh boots on da ground' and we see where backwards facing progress gets you bo6 💀😂😭)
Neo sploosh is pretty fun ngl. Dploosh suggs but I'm tired of ppl acting like it's useless. It's only bad because short range shooters are outclassed. If the class got buffs (like some more fuggin range, better bsde swim/run speed, or tenta missiles 😭) it'd be pretty gud
I think cooler being required is bad, but the way it makes people play is very good, so make it a mechanic or something. Agree with pretty much everything said in this video tho, inkbrush also very based.
They also never touched subs outside of splatoon 2 ones and some touches to the master creation marker, they never touched toxic mist and I dont know why

Makes me think about rollers. As a roller main, I want to see one of my go-to rollers get a special like Splashdown or Killer Wail. My personal favorite rollers are Big Swig and Carbon, and honestly? Never been a big fan of specials like Zipcaster or Ink Vac. They might WORK for a roller, but I can never find good opportunities to use them, and end up using them so that the other team will panic or to just ink the field. My playstyle is perfect for pulling Triple Splashdowns in close range, and I’m a little sad that roller kits haven’t done this. I rack up points SO QUICKLY because inking turf is my job, and it’s frustrating to die before I ever have a good opportunity for a special.
Hi, I love Big swing and carbon too and I think the specials are just fine, I love swinging around with zipcaster and big swing could have been a good backline with that kit but they lack of something, carbon need more paint and swing better hitbox

There’s a lot of bullshit in rollers, from “I shouldn’t have died” to “how the fuck are you even dead” not to mention your ink hitting some poor soul who killed you and killing THEM a second after you died

I didn't really like rollers in. Back in 2 they got replaced by brushes, which had crazy kits. In this game, because the meta was med range plus for so long I never saw the value in them. Big swig is fun, but I can't clinch games with it. Basic rollers are... basic. I've always been the on the dynamo gear the most and jesus chrust could they have done this weapon any worse? Basically unplayable year one, goofiest follow uo kit ever, finally gets a real hitbox the last year of the game. I really dislike how they did us, especially with sp3 vanilla kit. Like wtf were they thinking? Expensive paint sub? Cooler? I don't understand the ideas behind the weapon at all. I didn't even 4 star the chumps kit. Rollers were definitely fumble, especially krakon boi ❤️🔥 wth does the sharking weapon get beacon 💀😂😭 Dynamo should've gotten the 2nd douser kit. I'll never understand why this weapon can't be agressive.

I mean it's kinda hard to beat eith dingaling range lol. Honestly, I don't think the sploosh playerbase is really filled with thst much skill. No one plays this weapon and you know wat that means... only the really bad or the reeeeally good find value innit. Idk tho, I fell in love with sploosh back in 2. It's just satisfying to know if I hold Zr for a second I can move... Too bad after being relegated to perma F in tier in 3 games didn't motivate the devs to change anything up. I think this video was one of your least convincing videos and I am saying that as someone who considers you to be the best content creator on Splatoon (among all at least somewhat popular Splatoon creators that I all follow) due to your consistently high quality analysis of this game's aspects without any "filler" videos (which are primarily uploaded by other popular content creators to keep existing subscribers engaged in the long-term and / or keep the UA-cam algorithm happy), which I appreciate a lot! So what was wrong with this video? 1) You (and the thumbnail) say that the problem of Splatoon 3 was not enough content / kits, but you actually meant that it was not good enough content / kits, and I would argue that the best solution would actually be (paradoxically) even less kits than we have now; and 2) your arguments were too focussed on competitive (I know that you are a competitive player, but that view it too limited in this case). Let me explain why I say this: 1) Most new content (including kits) was simply disappointing considering how much time the developers had for each update. More content is also not "free" in terms of affecting the complexity of the game for both developers and players. The higher the number of available kits, the more total kits the developers have to consider (for each battle mode, not just Splat Zones) when balancing each kit while at the same time restricting themselves on how much and how exactly they can change a single component of a kit (i.e. main weapon, sub weapon, special weapon) since these are shared across multiple kits. That is, even when buffing only one special weapon, this single buff could turn an underpowered kit into a perfectly balanced kit while overpowering another previously perfectly balanced kit. Do you see how that will make it eventually almost impossible to make any impactful balance changes as the number of kits increases? 2) More kits also pose a problem for non-competitive players since they need to remember all these different kits that are associated with each main weapon in order to quickly adjust their playstyle / strategy for each different battle when checking the opponent team comp at the beginning of a battle in Solo Queue. This is a non-issue in competitive battles due to the very low comp variety in the past and present. The number of kits also affects Table Turf and Salmon Run since each kit requires a different Table Turf card and an equally distributed representation in Salmon Run schedules (which is stupid, I know), which drains the developers' resources. More kits also decrease the usuability of the UI for all players (like how long do I have to scroll to select / buy the kit that I want to choose?) and Splatoon's approachability for new players (considering that Splatoon 3 is already an incredibly complex game for players - arguably unmatched in terms of complexity when compared to other shooter games). Therefore, paradoxically, the best solution would be to REDUCE the number of kits to just 1 kit per main weapon that actually works for the main weapon. This would give the developers more freedom in making impactful balance changes to main weapons, sub weapons, and special weapons; and differentiate the unique strengths of each main weapon or kit while freeing up the developers' resources since less redundant content needs to be implement (e.g. Table Turf cards, Salmon Run rotations). It would also improve the usuability and approachability of Splatoon. I think players don't actually want more choice in kits, but kits that are actually viable in both competitive and non-competitive battles for all modes; and therefore fun to play for unranked, ranked, and competitive players.

This video means alot to me as a long time sploosh player. "My disappointment was immeasurable and a day was ruined" were my first impressions of the neo sploosh. And that sentiment has only grown worse knowing that I waited 2 years for sploosh 7 to be all but de-confirmed. But as much as I want to complain about the lack of third kits, the real IMO is the kit system itself. The current kit system as it has always stood since the very first game is in a desperate need of an overhaul, especially since this it's responsible for getting us into this third kit crisis in the first place. The system needs to be updated or gotten rid of entirely. The best compromise would be a weapon pool system that gives main weapons access to 3 subs and 3 specials. And with each new content update, each weapon pool is expanded with new subs and specials.
ALMIGHTY SPLOOOOOOSH! Idk man, I think neo is a lot of fun. In the famous words of MetalBeard; "They had sharks! Lasers! LaserSharks!" 💀😂😭😭😭😭 Nah I was toxic too, the couldn't push without lasers being in the way. I thought it worked well for the gun, and if sp3 had a more cohesive player base it would shine a bit more. My biggest disappointment with sploosh is that 3 was the 3rd game it was considered irrelevant in and the devs somehow doesn't think that's an issue. I could forgive them if we had great kits, but it's clear the ideas they had for the kits doesn't work because the main problem with the gun, is that it's barred put of viability. It simply doesn't have good enough range to compete. But if I had to trade neo sploosh for a real buff (and not some measly shot speed buff) I would in a heart beat. Custom kits might be a thing in 4 tho, you can still justify ur copium reserves 😭

What do you mean Reefslider is the kit killer? You mean I can't wish for my Hydra Reefslider? /jk but I think the reason why 3rd kits won't happen are twofold: one, numbers. Sure the JP player base (aka their primary audience) is still large but is it large enough to justify a content extension rather than ready up for an S4/next AC game for Switch 2? We can assume even the JP player base has fallen off to a certain degree. Second is balancing: S3 has more weapon choices than before. I can't imagine having to balance 140+ weapons (assuming not all get 3rd kits). I can't imagine the dev team having to look at everything left and right to fix. Yeah a game that pushes 3 not having 3 kits is a missed potential but I have the view of to try enjoying what's there, screw around, and maybe even try using some weapons seriously for giggles or for real.
At first we did think dflux one of the the worst kits in Splatoon 3, but balance patches helped out Reefslider a ton. The kit has some synergy; enough to where it feels self sufficient, even in comp play. Dflux isn't a good example because a LOT of the issues with the game is the devs not buffing the right weapons/not buffing them fast enough.
I want to respect reflux but like blobber and aerospray, some of the worst players imaginable are drawn to it and it's tarnished the name forever my guy 😭

You kind of disprove your own point when talking about reef deco. Yeah, it was very heavily written off in the beginning, but the buffs the main and special weapons have received since then have made it somewhat viable, much better than bottom tier imo. Plus reefslider in general is nowhere close to bottom tier anymore, those buffs you mentioned as “overtuning” the special with a larger 70 damage radius have actually made it quite relevant on the better weapons its on. I agree that third kits would help with the problems of this game, but at the same time the lack of obviously broken kits has led people to invest more time into kits that were previously written off like reef deco, dread wringer, and custom explo, all of which are in good spots thanks to balance changes and people sticking with them despite all of them being cast off early on. I also think you unfairly blamed cooler at the end considering that it has been the enabler of these forgotten weapons with more aggressive specials. If it got harsher nerfs akin to the other game you mentioned, we’d be seeing a lot less experimentation with other options that need a fallback option in cooler to succeed consistently. There’s a reason they’ve nerfed things like crab and inkjet out of the spotlight but not cooler.
There were other ways to buff Slider that would've made it better without making it borderline unfair in certain situations, like reducing the endlag and giving you the option to dismount

To me, since they weren't gonna stop making you a sitting duck it felt great that atleast you put uo a solid barrier OR capped point before dying. (And it's seemed like ppl actually died when you exploded near them) Now it's a great opener/finsher but I mainly use it defensively since it doesn't kill. It has great combos but most of the slider weapons can't really capitalize on it. Reefslider is just, meh. I still don't know why they made the worst special in the game so loud and vibrant. LIKE COME TF ON MY GRANDMA BACK HOME IS CALLING THEM IN ON DIAL UP 💀😂😭
@@FluntFin Perhaps, but I think those buffs would not have helped slider as much. The increased 70 damage hit box helps a ton with its issue of dying too much after use because it encourages players to not just mindlessly shoot at the slider after it ends since it increases the risk of dying after taking 70 damage. You either have to ignore killing the slider user and remain at full health or take 70 damage and go for the kill, which results in more trades and even some deaths. It makes you approach fighting sliders with opportunity costs in mid rather than just easily countering it without a second thought. The increased hit box can be annoying at times, but it fundamentally changed how people deal with slider, which is exactly what the special needed to become viable.
