@cerebraltackle i have been very tempted to not vjy fising liscences here in washington anymore since they gill net and killed off one of my favorate soecies to fish for. Northern pike! I love Bass too dont get me wrong but not as much i love my pike. And now they are gone and i hardly go out and fish anymore now. In my opinion no one should buy fising liscences anymore. Expecially since most people here wanted the pike. Several people that i know left as soon as they basically killed them all off for no reason what so ever

If you want the Fisheries to exist, it's your obligation. I understand how much fun Pike can be to fish for. However, it's not a good enough reason to not purchase a license. If they find it so reprehensible even after he updated his license and retroactively paid for that period of time to harvest fish, then they surely don't want his dirty fish and it's DNA. The point of the suit would, like many suits, be to highlight that his wrongdoing was equally facilitated and indeed encouraged by the program and thus they should drop the charges and investigation and mediate whatever damage needs reconciliation beyond the standard fine, before further damages can occur to his reputation and livelihood. It is in no one's interest to create mountains from mole hills using lawfare paid for on the taxpayers' dime. I would argue that the entire share lunker prize structure is in fact not a tournament, but a means of incentivizing private fish catchers to provide services to the state at a rate below federal minimum wage standards and without employer liability... now given the very real dangers and cost liabilities of owning and operating the boat and equipment, the entire arrangement begs people to engage in a number of activities that have serious workplace concerns, and to endure those risks while the state and the sharelunker program can bail on the good faithed efforts of the fish catcher after the service has been rendered... a sly representative could easily present a case that at minimum, tarnishes the program reputation and participation and undermines its future effectiveness thus risking the entire investment, and at worst results in a massive finding for a celebrity representing a populist ideal (no precedent for that, I guess?). There's no win in it for the state or the program, and, however unlikely, nothing but risk. So yes, return the fish and the spawn (all potential spawn) or drop the nonsense (which is more absurd than my argument) and invite the man to the dinner just to save face so this passes.
