Why There’s No 4th Avenue in Manhattan
You** probably won’t find 4th avenue on a map of Manhattan. Most of the island has avenues going 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Lexington, Park, Madison, then 5th… so what happened to 4th?
** maybe not you exactly... I know this channel's audience is very knowledgeable about New York.

The Entire History of the NYC Shuttle
Переглядів 33 тис.Рік тому
From well before the beginning of the NYC subway in 1904 to the present day, this is the most comprehensive history of the 42nd street shuttle on UA-cam. This project was almost six months in the making (I started early October 2022), mostly because of other conflicting video projects. I hope you find this video informative, thank you so much for watching. If you have any corrections, please co...
the M15 needs fixing... (NYC)

As the busiest bus route in New York City, the M15 needs to be reliable to help as many people as possible. Right now it and many other bus lines suffer from heavy traffic and overcrowding during the AM and PM rush hours which need to be addressed. This video isn't about the subway or trains but the second avenue subway will help. Here are some possible ways to improve the M15: discussion? Post...
Why Do Metros Use Rubber Tires?

In Defense of the R46... (NYC Subway)
Переглядів 80 тис.2 роки тому
In 1975, the R46 / R-46 were placed into service on the B division of the NYC subway. Built by the Pullman Standard Company, these cars have been in service for nearly 50 years and have faced their fair share of problems. In this pretty short video I went over some of the best and worst parts of this car. This video was scripted, filmed, and edited by Robert (me). I used a bit of footage from G...

I like the R46s but at some point they have to go, just having like half a century old trains running in one of the most known cities on the planet is kinda off considering the time we’re in and also compared to other metros worldwide. It’s not about how the train looks and stuff, it’s more of how it performs on the system it was built for

The R46s are the best trains to ride. The fluorescent lights plus white walls and ceilings on NTTs hurt my eyes, while the interiors of the R46s are a lot easier on me. And getting a forward facing window seat gives much better views and makes me less nauseous than longitudinal seating. And as a lover of all things vintage, that fake wood and beige wallpaper just feels so nostalgic. I’ll miss these.

The bus lane on 2 Av needs to get moved away from the curb. Construction on the west side of 2 Av ends up rendering the lane useless and buses end up in traffic.

Personally I just dislike how slow they feel, I take a Manhattan-bound N train daily yet I see the R train usually out-pacing it, even if the N was ahead. That is most likely due to other things, but man the 50 years really is felt on them. Also the lighting is crazy soft, feels like I am going to sleep. Nonetheless, I enjoy the train, and it is a pretty cool model.

Thanks for the video, when i went to mexico city, i just wondered how did the circuit worked, because with conventional metros the supply current with third rail or ohle, goes in and then returns via the running rail, with the metro in mexico city, i didnt know how the circuit was completed, Its cool how a compressed shoe is pressed in the inner steel rails to return the current.
