The top track of the sliding rear glass in my 2015 Ford F-150 detached from the glass. I’ll show you how I repaired it.

Prevent pipes from freezing and thaw frozen pipes safely using "Hot Hands!"

How I used "Hot Hands" to thaw a frozen water spigot and keep it thawed. As a note, I purchased the hand and body hot hands because they can last up to 18 hours.

Now, I challenge David Gray, Chad Woodruff, Ryan Rumsey, Bo Wilson, Cheryl Plato-Bryant, Dr. Rich Hobson. You have one week!
My 2017 F250 rear window is doing the same thing. Thanks for posting this video. I’m gonna pull mine apart in the next few days when I’ve obtained all the required items.
mine as well, same year and all
Thank you brother! Helped a TON!!
You literally skipped filming the most important parts.
This should absolutely to a design recall.... @FordMotors
Never had this issue until I started driving my truck through those doggone Car Washers... The damn high powered dryer is the culprit....
For those coming to this video to fix their issue: Sealant is used to hold the track in place "permanently" (mine dropped earlier this year [2016 F-150] so clearly it is not permanent). Double-sided tape is used to hold the track in place until the sealant sets up. I have seen several comments railing on Ford for using "four pieces of tape to hold the window in place." This is simply NOT true. I ABSOLUTELY think the sealant is a very poor design but its just silly to think that anyone would use just four pieces of tape, especially with the sealant (clearly visible) attached to the truck and its residue on the track. The stuff is there for a reason so yeah, it might be important... Find out what it is, why its there and do your best to repair it as well, or better, than the original.
Thank you for this video had the same thing happen in my truck 🙌
You’re welcome! Hope it helps. I don’t have this truck anymore. My newer one doesn’t have sliding rear glass. I miss it but I don’t miss the problems.
Thank You Sir!!!! I just dropped my 2016 off at the dealer for this very same issue. So, I called them to put the key in it and put it off to the side I'll pick it up later. You probably saved me and ton of dollars. Again thank you Sir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, in other words, you can push the back window in and get in... I just bought an f150 2016, and I just noticed it was loose
Why not double stack the tape where it’s lower ?
Glad to see this as the one on my 2015 is loose all the way across.
Glad this video exists because I needed it today
FYI, the sealant needs to be replaced. So you scrape that away and Apply 3M Single Step Primer, then apply 3M Window-Weld. The two sided tape is just used to hold in place while the window-weld sets. If you don't have a means to apply pressure to the window for an hour or so for the window-weld to set, try rolling and stuffing a towel between window and back seat head rest.
How thick of a bead of Windo Weld did you run?
@@jimmymcdonald7537 no more than like the thickness of a cell phone charging cable (so maybe 3mm wide). along entire length.
There was a Tim that 3m was the leader in adhesive product. But if you notice 3m products seem to fail. Mostly in the cooler damp times of the year. Metal tracks get cold and tape fails. I’ve used hair dryers to warm the tape and it seems to reactivate the adhesion compounds . Or better yet use a outside auto trim type glue. It’s made to take the elements..
Sliding Window just fell out. Going to fix it the way you showed. Thanks.
Thanks!
It was not a seal that you peeled out, it was a spacer. But, I'm on it, this will save me some time. Why can't the dealership offer this repair?
Same thing happened to my 2015 F-150. Fixed once and that only lasted a few weeks. I’m going to give your remedy a try. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video, having the same exact problem. Now with a step by step, I can get this knocked out...thanks again....
I bought some hot hands for this very things a few days ago. I'm in Central Texas. I also stuff a small hand towel in there to add a bit of insulation. I'm hoping this works since we'll be getting some low-teen temps tomorrow night
Thank you!
Great video I’m so glad I watched this before going to the dealer to fix this. I couldn’t believe that’s all ford did was put tape to hold it ridiculous anyways great video keep up the good work bud 👍🏽
Thank you for this post. I had the same problem on my 2015 F-150. Got the materials you suggested and fixed it. I'm no pro, so I'll check it after the adhesive cures, but so far so good. Thank you again.
Did you run the flex seal in between the tape Along the track? I didn't see you run that so that's why I'm asking.
Yes I filled that entire track with Flex Shot as a back up
Great video. Have a 2015 Platinum and this issue occurred in late 2021. Used duct tape as an interim fix but will use your experience to make a permanent repair. Incomprehensible that Ford engineers selected this method to secure and support a window - an access point into the vehicle... Thanks much for sharing!
I just had the same issue. The tape is there just to hold it until the adhesive sets up. I used permatex black adhesive sealant. You need to use shims and or tape to hold the window against the glass. The shims hold it in place with pressure. I let it cure for 24 hrs. And it worked out fine.
This is so frustrating - shame on Ford. This just happened to my F-250. Thank you for this video.
Thanks Brian! I live in lower Alabama and after the first repair with super glue, my window has came loose again. I agree, Ford could have done a better job on this window. I’m going to try your repair this time. Maybe it will last longer than a year.
Thanks brother! Mine done this yesterday. Great video
I have same issue (2015 Platinum) How cheep Ford can go , just sticking window with double tape Ridicules
Question.....can I use the flex shot on all four of the areas where the tape was located?
I ran the flex shot everywhere in the track but where the tape was.
@@76williamsbh so did you use the double sided tape too?
@@TheBanks148 yes sir! I doubled up the two-sided tape. So in other words I put two pieces on top of each other. And then I filled the channel with flex shot. The two-sided tape is mostly just to get it up there. The flex shot is what did more of the work in holding it in place permanently. You could also use automotive glass adhesive instead of the flex shot but it is considerably more expensive. But, it might be a better hold.
@@76williamsbh what size tape did you get?
@@TheBanks148 I don’t recall exactly. You can buy it at most any auto parts store. It is the same tape they use to put on vent visor window guards. It comes in a big roll. I think it is about a quarter inch wide.
Just happened to mine. Thanks for the great video.
Hello Brian, this just happened to me on my 2016 F150 and found your video. So, do I need to double up the 2 sided tape? Do I need to apply the sealant too? Thanks for the video, great job.
Four pieces of double-sided tape, positioned across the unit on the raised rectangle areas is plenty. You have to apply the sealant if you want the repair to last any length of time. There is a reason why both are there: The sealant holds the track "permanently" and the tape holds the track in place while the sealant is setting up.
Brian, mine has done the same thing. I can’t believe that this is how Ford does us. Thanks for posting a video. I’m going to double up my tape and add some sealant, as well. Have a good one.
Good luck with it!
I got it done. I used a piece of 1/2” pvc pipe wedged between the back seat and the center of the bracket and let it set up overnight. All is well, so far. Thank again for the video.
Great video, man. Thanks for the help. Thanks for the video 👍
No problem! Glad it helped!
Thank you so much Brian. You saved me a trip to the dealership and a $1000 bucks!
Great job thank you
Great job- just started having this problem.
What sealant did you end up using to bond that window to the glass?
I used Flex Seal. It is that stuff you see on TV all the time. flexsealproducts.com/products/flex-shot
Amazing video I appreciate you making this! I will be doing your same fix to mine.
Thanks for the video, my trim just came loose on my 2016 F150. I will give it a try on the fix.
This is identical to a 2017 F-250. Thank you for the video.
Sad that this problem went on through a few years and makes/models. Thanks for the feedback!
Great job with the video brother. My rear window rail just popped off. I’ll be doing the fix on my next day off. Hopefully it works out for my truck same as yours. Appreciate the video… 🤙🏾
The tape was to serve as a temporary hold to wait for sealant to cure.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video and sharing. Had the same issue. gave it a go yesterday. It's looking good.
Why not put the tape a little bit longer or the whole tape in it to act as adhesive and sealant ?
I actually considered that off camera. However, there are only the four raised spots to put the tape inside the small channel. If you try to put the tape inside the channel, it does not stick up for enough to do anything. It's a really poor design.
Appreciate the video this just happened to my 15 F150. Ford definitely went cheap with this back window design. Once again thank you for your video
Nice video- very helpful.
I’ve done the double sided tape twice, now to put the flex seal on! Thanks! Just note, raise the center section of the track while pushing in on the sliding glass, and you will hear it pop into place. Other wise, you end up with wind noise and that aggravating rattle that started your whole process. Mine came new from the dealer leaking air, which the dealer fixed before I’d take the truck. But, after 3 years, fighting this again. I agree, this is poorly designed by Ford!
Thanks for this video! Gonna go fix mine. RTR! I know about that humidity...
Lol War Damn!
