Currently, riding the Z900RS, enjoying the twisties, and potentially a little how-to and review (we'll see). But still love my 1200 sportster that got me started, RIP in hog heaven.

Z900RS doing fairly well with keeping two bigger bikes in sight going up South Grade, Palomar Mountain. what model handlebars are you running? I can see their renthals, but what bend?
Honestly, I've had those bars for a while now, and don't remember for sure. Best guess is the street fighter bend. I've been switching back and forth between those and some woodcraft clip ons; side mount, 75 mm rise. I'll take a closer look in my garage later, and comment again if it's indicated.
@@BobbyBittlerthank you 👏
Another great day at Palomar Mt
Preach!
that is way too spicy a pace for me. great riding boys!
Thanks brother! Although I've witnessed some spicy hypermotard-ing on east grade :)
you're the only other person i've seen riding an RS with clipons
what ride! what a day!
@@martinodonnell4037 yessir!
It appears that Nonte is figuring out that 1290. He’s looking good. And t he at beast comes out a corner like a maniac. Great riding Brutha.
Agreed! His pace on that thing picks up every time he rides it. I love hearing that big twin open up. Between him, you, and Troy, you guys always get me thinking big twin thoughts
@@BobbyBittler you do just fine on your in-line 4. But twins are a whole different thing.
Try 3 rd gear..
you were really riding well on Sunday . to catch those boys was quite a task.
Thanks brother. Was definitely one of the quickest trips up east grade I've done
damn Brutha y'all was on one last Sunday. really nice riding. I know those brutha's rip.
Thanks brother! Apparently everyone had their coffee and was ready to roll lol
Nice man. Once we got clear, we had a good run going. Good times. You’re quick and smooth…that z900rs mobs with you on it dude
Thanks man! Good times indeed! You're pretty damn smooth yourself. Making that pace look pretty casual
Great vid, just the sound of the bikes and wind. I rode yesterday in the best weather of the season. Didn't want to go back home.
Sounds like a great ride to me!
as always great riding by all. i like the chin bar camera view. it gives the video a very sort of video game quality.
I'm liking the POV as well. Thinking this will be the default for a while at least.
Wat ahm sayin' but Bobby won't listen to me. Hahaaaa another vote for the chin cam!!!!!! Respect yo elders..
You took that lane wide bump at 7:40 like nothing. Watup wid dat?
Just a little magic lol. Camera doesn't really show it, but all the braking is done before the bump, and then I'm out of the seat and getting back into it with the start of the turn.
it was awful nice of you to edit that smudge in to obscure the young homie's identity. he really needs to watch this video and work on some issues. great video and great riding brutha.
Lol Thanks brother! But I can't take credit for the smudge. All credit to the but that didn't get caught by my helmet but by my camera.
@@BobbyBittler perfectly placed bug smudge. That bug gave its life for the anonymity of that young rider.
😮😮😮
❤❤❤
Superb road and nice riding style ✌🏼💥
Great riding! Can you share your suspension settings? Trying to dial in my z900rs a bit better
Thanks Dave! I'll share, but my suspension is custom; big piston upgrade in the front, and zx10r bottom end with added reservoir in the rear. Both ends have modified shim stacks for me. But, I'm 2 turns out from max on rebound in front, half turn out on the rear. Compression is right in the middle up front, with my high speed halfway and low speed slightly more open. If you're running stock suspension, I had mine all maxed out and wanting more before I upgraded. It was fine for just cruising around, but was a little easy to overwhelm when picking up the pace a bit.
@@BobbyBittler thanks man. Im not a big guy and the suspension is great for the majority of riding i do. But after a couple of trips to the Dragon last year, I definitely need to make sure I’m getting the most out of stock suspension
nice riding brutha
You guys were setting an excellent pace up front. So nice riding to you brother!
johnny this is louie with black thruxton R ....where is that bridge you start on at beginning of vid ?!
Hey Louie! That's directly above the 15 connecting Lilac and West Lilac. I'm fasting east on the bridge. Behind me is the 395 and the stop sign that crosses to West Lilac
So today Saturday 8/17 A guy on a Ducati bad crash way down at mile marker 4 on East grade pretty sure he broke his back as he was in severe pain and he obviously had major contact with helmet. several CHP units writiing tickets as fast as they could but all I saw was carrs getting written because motorcyclists are more careful? Other than that? still a ton of oil on southgrade I called it a day before noon....not many bikes left at store when I quit for the day
@@dougiequick1 yikes. Sorry to hear about the Ducati guy. I just got here, and haven't seen any CHP, but a couple dudes at the top said they saw a couple writing tickets. Too many dudes crashing lately is drawing the wrong kind of attention.
Here we go again! OIL all over in area of 3:42 on this video ( just for reference) I posted the following on a new group I started on facebook named Palomar Mountain Road news or somethinglike that Today August 14 a few hours ago AGAIN a motorcycle went down in more OIL on south grade! A CB650 this time he appeared intact but he suspects a concussion after eventually hitting a portable concrete barrier with his helmeted head ( I shined flashlight in his eyes and so no pupil reaction not sure what that means!) This is the ongoing construction project up there (to deal with land slide/boulder rock slides) It is the area of construction one of the turns with equiptment ...not the uppermost one with the always leaking stream of water ... but the next one down I think there is a big boxy thing equiptment of some sort there. There has been is all kinds of dust on the road lots of those concrete barriers lining the side and a bunch of the big long stuffed fabric absorbent hot dog type things along the side....anyway he (said name is Jake) says he was not going fast or anything but hit that oil in the turn and there was no saving it! (I saw it! Weird puddle on outside of turn almost like it was poured but idk?) which one might easily have assumed to be water but it is OIL! Of course HIS bike lost ALL its oil when he went down it broke open his stator cover so there is now like 3 quarts MORE of oil ALL the way from one side ot road to the other! Luckily there were stacked cones so we spread em around but already several vehicles had tracked a lot of oil a long way going uphill cause most of the oil had pooled toward the opposite side (uphill side) (he was traveling downhill) I put a lot of fine dirt over the oil to maybe make it more visable and help to contain/absorb it more? It NEEDS a real clean up who do I call? Apparently so many bikes are losing it in oil and then adding THEIR oil! I dont think the county or the contractor is doing much to help make this safe! Be SUPER careful through there no matter what you are riding/driving! Do NOT assume that ANYTHING is "just water" up there is my advice! slow down when you see the cones and the dust and wet spots! too many motorcycles are crashing through there right now!
@@dougiequick1 well I'm glad to hear he was okay. Sucks about the bike. I'm definitely keeping my eyes out when I get back to the mountain. Too many spills lately, of both bikes and fluid. Thanks for the heads up!
@@dougiequick1 one of my favorite turns too
One victim was 2:55 how many did I mis fast forwarding lol
That was the only one. And he slowed up to let me go by. Got to jump out in front of most of the crew. I've got a couple to upload from last weekend that'll show more of the crew rolling up east grade
So today 8/8/2024 me and pal Butch a few hours ago whent up east grade and stopped at store where the proprieter told us three motorcycles had crashed this morning on southgrade "oil on the road" ....so we proceeded very carefully on down and it did look like there was one really long greasy looking section a while after where the equiptment and leaky water trailer )perpetual stram accross road for many days) and other equiptment is parked,,....when as we went around that greasy looking section there was a CHP stopped on downhill side of the side with is blue lights on....maybe making a report? lol seeing if anyone else qould crash in it? He just waved "hi" to me was all no cones or obvious clean up effort not sure what the heck it is but be careful guys! I dont recall the road looking greasy there maybe Im crazy....Butch also thought it looked creasy but this was a couple feet wide and really long? Maybe a botched clean up? idk mystery peronally IF that really is grease or whatever WHY wasnt the CHP paked ABOVE it to warn people off rather on the other side of it where no one could see him until after through that? looked hinky
@@dougiequick1 jeez, I hope it cleaned up for the weekend. Otherwise, I'm betting a bunch of dudes lose it. I'll definitely be on the lookout with a scoping run or two
Nice ride What kind of clip ons are those?
Thanks! Those are Woodcraft side mount clip ons with a 75mm rise. Pretty comfy/neutral for a clip on
@@BobbyBittler thanks I was thinking of installing clip ons on mine too…I like woodcraft parts
@@mathieuconstantin3356 Well I'd definitely recommend them. They did require a little trimming of the brackets that guide the hoses/wires from the handlebars. But now they're pretty easy to take on and off, considering I still switch back to a pro taper handlebar here and there; depending on my mood.
Are we both a bit sick because this Palomar stuff never gets old
Lol That may be the case. If so, consider this place my hospital
Hey I did the loop and the observatory today
Nice! The pavement out toward the observatory feels pretty good now. I'm looking forward to doing the full tour this weekend!
@@BobbyBittler yup smooth as can be
Another bike dumped on a tight down hill right turn maybe a mile below 46mm. Also slid across opposite lane but this time no impact with a car. CHP collision investigator leaving yellow paint these days.
Jeez! Apparently everyone wants to push it lately. Hope the rider was okay. Sounds like it was significant if CHP showed up to investigate
I think that Miata dude was holding you up....prolly some old man poser
Lol I don't know... Probably the only Miata I haven't been able to pass
Hey they are repaving a bunch of Mesa Grande ...which is awesome except I got stuck road closure mess....they are also fixing some stuff on south grade
Sounds good to me! I'm hoping they finish the observatory road while they're at it. Looking forward to hitting it this weekend. Might have to see how the progress on Mesa grande is looking

Nice riding boys. I’ll be back as soon as I figure out how to fix my broken brain.
Well, I'm dressing my fingers that'll be this Sunday. Wasn't the same early bird session without you bro
Nice clipons, wider than I thought. I raised the rear 14mm and dropped the triples 12mm and she handles nice. Going mad, your vid makes me want to get out and ride.
Thanks! I've got my rear raised about 10mm with an adjustable linkage, and the front right around the stock height. I started having some trouble with the kickstand block touching down on the left side. Otherwise, can't believe how much fun this bike continues to be. Enjoy the next ride! Hopefully it's today 😁
