Question. If I'm currently running a VF39 turbo with a 3 port boost controller and my turbo dynamics tables are already working great with that turbo, will I have to change the turbo dynamics tables if I swap the turbo for a bigger one, like a GrimmSpeed BB500?
Hi, it is very likely that it might need changing a bit to suit the larger turbo but not always the case. General boost control will be very different though as well as fueling and ignition as the larger turbo with flow more air and unless pushing boost much higher will be cooler sir post turbo. I hope that helps .
Hi mate could you tell us what supporting mods that jdm vf400 Subaru had, am looking to get to that type of power
Hi. To get to 400 on that turbo set up on jdm you would want fmic, ideally some slightly larger injectors or fpr as the std 550 max at 400 ish on a 2.0. Obviously free flowing exhaust is needed too. Std headers are fine and no advantage in changing the twin scroll std headers.

Tbh we have no VB wrx in the UK at the moment so I haven't had the experience yet. Sorry
Hi Duncan Wondered if you could help put a 2nd hand vf35 with all the usual mods on my wrx Took it to get it tuned and it smoked its brains out Oil smoke Was not doing yhus before on the td04 do you think the turbo is knackered even though the seller said it as running fine Help would be appreciated Also when I drove it back noticed lag was awful Would you rate the fastline td04 hybrid as a replacement Many thanks Jason
Hi Jason.. it certainly sounds like the turbo is goosed. Is the turbo drain pipe clean and located properly ? This could cause pressure yo build and for it to pop seals. The Fastline td04 hybrid is fabulous and will do everything the Vf35 can 👍

Man 👏🏻 thank you so much. For this. -from subarob Out in Oregon 1985 Subaru rx turbo sedan w/ 06 sti 100mm bored forged engine with ported d25 wrx heads. 9:1 comp. With the wrx intake cams and sti exhaust cam, which provide most lift. Arp 2000 head studs, and ecm head gaskets and e85. The rest of the swap is jdm 08 444 trans and front end and rear diff, all 5x100 380 whp and 412 wtq. This was done on a tdo518g. But gtx3582 going in soon as the delivery driver brings it. I’m also the one working on the carberry rom for 16 bit ecms,

@@racedynamix it’s my business partners phone account I’m rob aka subarob and I do run a tuning shop, though small and low key I specialize in subarus and specifically the factory ecm and how to set up the timing curve and Dynamic advance and calibrate the load cells. and I do learn a ton of info from you..also give credit where it’s due. I have figured out a great recipe for power though. ironically when you flash some of your maps accross the screen I instantly can tell your top notch and like anyone better than myself i try to learn as much as possible from. Also if there is a way I can give you my direct number as well cuz I’m deep into the ecm as in writing my own patches and applying them to the ecm and stuff. And there is no one to talk to about that stuff. I’ve done merp mod sd on my 06 ecm and it works but I can’t get some of the tables viewable to make the most of it… that kind of definition stuff that won’t let me change the map. Or my patch is in the wrong spot. I feel like you may know something I’m missing…

Can you do a run down on merpmod and how it all works
So I have an "issue" on my 2005 blobeye wrx where under full boost (15 psi on the gauge) the rpms will dip wheb it reaches approximately 4500rpm, and they will drop to around 4000rpm. I've heard you mention it could be plugs or coils, bit I'm wondering if it could also be caused by a change in exhaust system? I bought it some months ago, and according to some invoices etc, it had an after market exhaust, that was swapped out for an oem one to make its MOT compliant, but there's no mention of a tune, unless they flashed a standard map to it? Would love to hear your thoughts on that, and I'm looking forward to getting a tune in with you at some point! Cheers
Hi.. I think very unlikely that it is exhaust ..most likely crank or cam sensor. Are you able to datalog it ?

Q: Australia, 02 bugeye. 207 non avcs Seeking 300 (ish) on pump and 350 on E85. -Injectors: are ID’s worth the hype? FIC vs ID. 1200 or 1600, will I need to go that large??

@@racedynamix in Australia, the bug was non avcs in the Wrx, I think the sti was 2L single avcs. Blob eye Wrx was still 2Lfrom memory. But the hawk went to 2.5L singke AVCS. Apologies I was meaning whp
So I am writing a ve tune using the carberry 16bit rom. I am using maf/sd blend do you happen to know more about the set up of the carberry ecu flash roms, It’s for a customer car so I want to do as much research as possible, I already patched the hex code to the rim and have the definitions and have the base map done, I have the maf based map done but the switchable map option for flex fuel and stuff is what he wanted, I feel like your the right guy to ask about this lol.

Subarus have a sweet spot in timing. I never get greedy with timing on a subi. 😂maybe a few times in the past but I learned my lesson lol🎉

Oh the bug eye love. I just tuned 2 this last week one at 356hp and the other 372hp to the wheels and they both came with .043 gapped plugs🤦♂️ I was like ya gap your plugs to .026. These ej205 will blow the spark out at anything above 14 psi with the .043 plug gap.running .026 gap I got 22 psi. But 24 psi and up need some hot coils for sure.

Is this possible to do on a 2001 subaru legacy gen 3? (2.0 twin turbo)
Unfortunately not properly like this. The ecu on the gen 3 won't allow negative timing so won't pop at all unfortunately

How detrimental to the life of the turbo and valve train is rolling anti lag and also launch control? Also I’m personally a little confused on why have a car strapped to the dyno but show us flywheel hp, I’d like to see the whp.
All good things are bad for the car in a way. We use flywheel figures in the UK the same as the manufacturers 👍
