Bug Outdoors
Приєднався 26 лип 2018
Hello and welcome to my channel. I make videos on my 2017 Kawasaki klr 650. I use my motorcycle to go on fishing and camping trips. I ride in northern California near manteca and am always looking for something fun and outdoors to do.
I also use my 2018 vibe seaghost 130 fishing kayak to make fishing videos around the Stockton delta.
I'm always happy to hear from viewers about my channel regarding both constructive criticism and suggestions.
Send me cool things. Send me stickers, gear, a new car, anything you'd like. If you have something that you think can help me and no longer need it, send it on over. If it's cool I might put it in a video.

Modesto KMOD ILS 28R Approach in IMC in a Cessna 172R
Shooting an ILS 28 right approach into Modesto (KMOD) in some actual IMC conditions. This was done while wearing foggles down to minimums which is about when I crossed over the freeway. Instructor is in the right seat and the camera is mounted to the dashboard. Aircraft is a Cessna 172R.

Plus I finally finished installing my tusk panniers so I did a test ride to see if they fall off. #klrdelusionals I nominate these 3 UA-camrs to complete this challenge as well. Great Landing!
@@cassbiz thanks, I appreciate it.
It's just a big deer.
This was super helpful thanks buddy!
Your welcome. It was a great product that I highly recommend.
@@BugOutdoors glad to hear I’m about to put mine on my tw200
Oh man I wish we could land split here in Tennessee. Nice video and really great riding. Stay safe out there. Oh and I’ve ridden in 110 degrees and as low as 10. 10 degrees was BRUTAL!
Couldn't imagine that
Man, I'm in Arizona, hot as hell here around 110 in the summer, 100 is about it for me to ride, I have a KLR, I dropped the front tire pressure down, and took some sag out of the rear spring, it puts more weight on the front of the bike !
Yep I couldn't do it lol
In Australia I have done 110f with %100 humidity, got sweaty but didn't mind too much. Just take a water-bottle and a change of clothes for when you get there.
Yeah that's to hot for me lol
Just push the turn signal switch down. Yes it is a pain in the butt. It is what it is. I ride the crap out of mine and love it. My issue is that it is heavy. But I am short and that doesn't help me.
mine dies in traffic. the needle just up a little bit from the middle of the gauge and then dies, just like when runs out of fuel. i have to stop and wait a few minutes. then, the motorcycle works fine again. sorry for my english, im from mexico.
No problemo. What part of Mexico? Mi familia es en Colima.
@@BugOutdoors im from veracruz!!
Herd gun shots. Shooting at game or you guys for finding their meth lab. 😳
I think they were just target shooting. I honestly don't really know, we didn't stick around to find out lol.
@@BugOutdoors Once on my KLR took a dirt road not knowing it was a mile long driveway and ended up at a deadend with Elmer Fudd siting on the front porch with his pack of dogs. As the dogs leaped off the porch I spun it around with the dogs nipping at my heels with that old man screaming and was expecting to hear a shotgun.
@@MrPepper312 lol hear I'm California that would be bad
Same here have had many fast sport bikes but love my KLR. Thanks for no music.
Yeah I have alot more fun on my klr. Its the best bike I've ever owned for sure.
nice job-enjoyed the video-just subbed and liked
Glad you enjoyed it thanks.
When your left legs is burning up!!!😁
Absolutely. That didn't take long on my Hondas lol
Absolutely
Excellent review. Thank you. Could you do a video on your crash bars and their installation?
Unfortunately I can't really do a video installing them because they are already installed. Their is alot of good videos on UA-cam about the installation however. They are SW Motech bars.
Bug Outdoors - Got it - thanks again for the very helpful video.
Real cool I have TW 200 hopefully the seat cover helps. Good video.
It should help. I have no complaints 👍
just not have 50/50 tires and just let off the throttle when it starts to wobble. and I agree with it's a less aggressive than a death wobble. lane splitting is not legal in IL or WI, but I've only lane split a couple times to get out of where I was in a hurry.
Comfort improved?
I would say it was definitely worth it. I like it alot better now.
I have a 2013, and agree with most of what you said, the KLR is a budget bike that has some weak points not mentioned, the Doohickey balancer lever, being the main one, get the Eagle Mike kit , and get it done with the captive torsion spring behind it, a good mechanic is better than messing with engine internals, it's peace of mind against a engine failure from a broken spring ending up in your sump.
It really was a great bike
get a top water popper
Try Eagle Mikes Fork brace kit or Happy trails K9 Fork brace helps a lot. cutting slits into the windscreen can help also because of the negative air pressure in between the screen and rider above the tank... Leaning forward into the front of the bike will help the wobbles as well.
So now your wife has to eat cold soup!haha
Great video...good reasons, for sure! Interesting choice for a first bike. Haha!
Lol yep. The day I started riding I rode a blackbird and a hayabusa lol. Jumped right in
Bug Outdoors thats so cool! Jumped in with both feet!
I run Challenge accepted & think I should do this challenge. I had a terrible motorcycle when the challenge came out. Good idea testing out the bags. Most bikes are good but certain bikes are better for certain people. Seems like your bike is good for you.
I've had sport bikes and sport touring bikes. Ridden it all and I have more fun on this bike. Its alot of fun to just pick a dirt road, drive it, then camp anywhere. You should definitely do this challenge.
Great 3R. Really like that style of bike.
Thanks I appreciate it. I've always ridden sport bikes so this was quite different. But I honestly have more fun riding this.
Hi New family member here showing love hope to see you soon thank you 💕
Thanks for stopping by
Nice bike, hows that seat cover performing for you? Was it a good by? Added comfort?
The seat cover has worked fantastic. Every few months I reapply the waterproof spray and that's it. Its comfortable and also seems to help with sliding on the seat. Well worth 20 or so bucks it cost
@@BugOutdoors I'm going to throw one on my KLR, i'm on a 04 I just picked up. I've only done a few little upgrades so far. Low profile oil plug, tusk shifter and today I'm putting on some front crash bars.
@@SouthWestIron that's awesome. Crash bars weren't fun to put on.
@@BugOutdoors strange its like like 4 bolts on my 1st gen, super simple.
@@SouthWestIron yeah it is. The swmotech bars don't line up very good on a gen 2. Takes some persuasion lol
Looks like a fun day! I'd like to have a kayak or canoe (every time I have the spare $ though, I find some old unloved dirt bike or dual sport that follows me home, LOL, I'll eventually get one though 😋)😁✌
Yeah I know the feeling. I honestly dont really have alot of time to use it so I've been contemplating selling it....
That's not far from my own setup (I get a bit more wind noise than you though FWIW, but my helmets are breezy and loud inside from wind noise with or without the mic), mine's a bit simpler though (I use a Dango Designs chin mount clip instead of having to use multiple GoPro mounts). Nice setup, my friend 😁✌
Yeah I honestly went with this setup because it was cheap and I'm a very cheap person lol. Seems to work ok lol. I honestly wish I would have put it on a different helmet but only because I can hear the sena as well on this helmet as I can hear it on other helmets.
Cool video and channel buddy! Left ya a sub thanks for sharing!
No problem, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I'm from what you would consider the future, just a few months. I just wanted to reassure you, your wife didn't kill you for the mud. This time 😛😂Great video, brother, looks like a rough place to ride for sure, LOL! All we ever catch are boots, other misc. trash, and bluegills 😁✌
Lol you are correct sir. Wife didn't care about the boots because she doesn't have to wear them. It's a great place to ride. Boots are pretty much destroyed now after my ride to nevada. Need to get some new ones but I'm to cheap.
@@BugOutdoors LOL, I feel ya! My wife always says "You're expensive!", I'm really not...it's the things that I like that are 😛 I bought a pair of combat-style boots at Walmart early last year (with zippers on the inside for easy in and out--NOT waterproof, LOL) for around 40 bucks or so for my on road riding (good ankle coverage, reasonably comfy once broken in, and they still look brand new when I wipe em off), and a pair of H2O proof Field & Stream (about the same height on the leg, mid calf) hikers with Thinsulate that I caught on sale 40% off ($99.99) at Cabella's last Summer for offroad or when it's raining (I miss a few up-shifts every ride with these, even a year later, but I digress...), they've served me well. I do have a pair of dusty motocross boots...but since I don't have a dedicated dirt bike these days (and don't ride Graham Jarvis-like trails anymore) the only time they get touched is when I move them to vacuum 😂
@@SmallADVentures1973 yeah I need to get a pair of simple commuter boots. I ride to work and it's all freeway. I have large feet (size 14) so finding boots that fit that I can still shift with has been a challenge. I do have a set of peg lowering brackets that should help though. Just have to get myself to install them lol
@@BugOutdoors why do today what you can put off till tomorrow? (my moto as CEO of Procrsatinators Anonymous myself, LOL)
@@SmallADVentures1973 I think I live by the same moto. My wife would guarantee it lol

I'll give anything a shot. Thanks man
I saw you guys met up in merced what trials did you guys go to in your video? I just got a KLR and live near merced and would like to head to where you went. Thank you.
In all honesty I dont really remember. I believe we rode out hwy 4 near sonora and Twain harte. We just happened to find that trail. It wasn't somewhere we planned on going. There was alot of quads as well and people shooting so I would probably look for a different place next time, one that's not so crowded.
nice vid! I have a Vibe on the way, really excited for it to arrive and get it on the water - same colorway too!
Awesome man you'll love it. Tight lines

Yep. I will always miss my cbr1100xx but I ride my klr more than I ever rode it anyways.
And tapped the bell
Great video, brother, all were great reasons imo 👍 BTW, I'm in FB jail so I won't get to like/comment of share there for a minute (I always try to do so, so didn't want you wandering if you noticed) 🤣

Got you back. Hope you enjoy the upcoming videos. Keep In touch
Tennessee here. Humidity is high a lot. We don't do it here. Not sure I'd lane split here. Might get a door to ya
Yeah I always worry about a door but at I also worry about getting rear ended in California. I think getting hit from behind is more likely but you never know. Jealous your in Tennessee, we want to move out of California and Tennessee is on our list of possibilities lol
@@BugOutdoors youd love it out here. I don't get to ride much cause I'm always working but when I do. I love it. I live about 20 minutes from (LBL)Land Between the Lake state park. Lots of great places to ride and camp.
@@tripod1229 yeah I'm kinda in the same boat. I work to much to ride alot. That's why I started riding to work. And where I live it's all big city, not much dirt. But I live a few hours from good riding at the ocean or in the mountains.
@@BugOutdoors I'd love to go to east tn where there is some mountains to ride. I do ride to work some myself but we've been getting a lot of rain lately. Be safe out there bud

Nice video friend 👍
Thank you
40C tops that I have ridden in. -5C coldest. Canadian eh..lol cannot lain split.
That's not a bad range. A little warm and a little cold lol
The wobble, yeah same here, I just let off the throttle a little. As long as I am riding in an area where I am moving...I'm ok with hot temps, cold weather, ...I've bought a bunch of snivel gear for that. Commute is 338 miles round trip. No lane splitting here, these cagers would kill all of us, they are the ones who need lane splitting training. Ride safe bro.
338 miles ?? Are you serious?
Nice video!!, I hate the heat.
Me to. thank you
I found those long sleeve salt water fisherman shirts really work well in the hot and humid SC heat of summer. No lane splitting here either. But avoid heavy traffic on the bike. Back roads for me.
I wish we had back roads lol
