The Bilgeaway filter is the world’s first truly environmentally friendly hydrocarbon filtration solution. Designed to extract hydrocarbon contamination (petrol, diesel, engine oil, etc) from water, the Bilgeaway filter will both remove hydrocarbon content and render the hydrocarbons none-reactive (none harmful). This makes the Bilgeaway system the only solution that both filters and treats (hyd...
Great video. Does the owner have a channel we can follow them on?
Today 28th May boat has been completely striped out all the ballast cleaned and dried refitted all new floor fitted.Boat has had a survey and some overplating being done, engine bay been completely stripped to bare metal and repainted now waiting for the new engine to be fitted then it will be usable again.
You're doing a great job! Can't believe how fast your progress is, I'll contact you soon to sort out a follow up vid. Keep going!
Do you have a channel we can follow it on?
@@Alan_AB no I am not the owner just a friend helping him get it back up and running he is not interested in being on you tube
Nice job men. Well done!
Thankyou very much
So many boats have problems with that bridge
Cool story
Thankyou very much!
Google will not let me reply to your message. Who knows why? Thanks for the update.
No problem Ken, good old google eh?! Thanks very much
I’m curious about several issues. I assume fresh water (River), so that would eliminate some salt issues. I’m sure the interior will be a total redo. Hopefully, the engine can be repaired rather than replaced. A channel on the refit would be a great idea! Good luck to the owner!
Hi Ken, yes the inside of the boat is a total right off, we think that the engine will be useable with a lot of tlc though, our engineers perform a "first aid" service for submerged engines and they are effective in bringing some of the engines back to life and sometimes this will be covered by the owners insurance. A channel specifically for refits is a good idea, but for us to do that would be almost a full time position, so isn't possible for us to do...sadly... However, the chap does send us updated photo's of the refit, so once he has finished his build, we will publish a video, because there has been a lot of interest in this recovery. Thanks for your comment, we do pass on good luck messages and messages of support to him. I believe that he also sees this on youtube.
Well done 👏
Thankyou very much
Owner should start a UA-cam channel for the restoration, might get some of his costs back. I'd watch it.
We will be doing a follow up video of this one, the owner sends us weekly progress pictures, lovely chap
Just waiting for the new engine to be fitted then the owner will be using it again before the end of June
@@bigKDL That's an amazing turn around! it took me 2 years to get our boat back in the water after going back to metal!
Hats off to the owner's positive attitude, and interesting to see how you went about refloating her. Was RCR working directly for the owner or for the insurers?
The owner works with us once the insurance company pay out
Very rewarding job, how do the crew get into this line of work?
Thankyou. All our team are trained marine engineers. Part of their role is to perform boat rescue and recovery and they are all highly trained in this role
Really well made video! Will come in useful for the day I actually own a boat :D
Thankyou very much! Good luck
Thanks for the "how to" demonstration. I thought it was the grease that stopped the water.
Glad it helped
Kez is amazing at what he does 😊
Interesting video. Look forward to watching more of these 'How to' videos.
Thankyou very much
Good stuff very educational 👍
Thankyou, we're glad you liked it. Stay tuned for more soon!
Did the boat his that tree that's growing across the canal why don't crt cut those trees back I see so many like that growing over almost half the canal making navigation very difficult and dangerous for those driving on boats
We're not sure if the tree was overhanging the river, we only know that the current took the boat towards the bank while he was turning and it became entangled in the trees on the bank. There are a lot of overhanging trees on the system though, so you're right to be careful
Never leave your boat unattended and go on holiday
unconfirmed, but a passer by told us that the owner had left the boat in the hands of a friend, but we don't know that as fact, just hearsay...
Just found this channel.. really enjoyed watching your process.. well done 🇺🇸😊
Thankyou so much. There are other "how to" videos coming soon, thankyou for your support!
Feels like a silly question, but how do you stop it from immediately sinking again overnight etc? Run pumps continuously?
I would imagine the CRT will tow it away and take it out of the water somewhere. It won't be left like that
It's not a silly question at all. We make sure that there is no water ingress before we leave the vessel and we always leave an automatic bilge pump and new battery in place just in case. The team also investigate where the water came into the boat and block any holes they may find. The boats are either moved by the customer, or their insurance arranges for the boat to be towed/lifted to either a salvage broker, or a chosen marina.
Well done Pete and team 👍
Thankyou!
nice vid guys!
Thankyou!
Welldone guys, fantastic job, totally love watching your videos,
Thankyou very much!
Very brave, well done RCR
Thankyou very much 🙂
Wondering how much the restoration will cost from cross the pond. What a harrowing ordeal the lot of it. Keep safe gents.
Not an exact figure, but having rebuilt a boat myself, although it is 20 feet bigger.. It will run into the many thousands, he is doing everything himself though which cuts the price down. I would estimate somewhere between 10k - 15k I will ask the owner once he's completed it. He's very upbeat about it, lovely chap
Well done to everyone involved. Appreciate the upload too as I’ve always wondered how this sort of recovery is undertaken. Keep the videos coming🍻
@@Multipleimaging Thankyou very much, more coming soon
Great job guys
Thankyou very much, teamwork makes the dream work
What a beautiful and emotional video 🙏
Thankyou Helen, speaking to his Father and Brother at the actual rescue was very touching, it felt right to dedicate this video to him
Im amazed if these guys get anything right, i watched them sink a narrowboat during recent floods
Really? Is that based on fact? Were you there to see this? Our team are extremely well trained, comments like this are usually based on misinformation and ignorance.
@@rivercanalrescue6450 i watched the vlog of the narrowboat trapped in front of the bridge when your lot bungled and sank it, or was that not your lot? 🤷🏻♂️ maybe it was someone else
As you chose to be cheeky and mouthy ill post a link to your bunhkes operation in Barrow on Soar, a bunch of clowns who do sink a narrowboat through incompetence ! FACT!

Narrow boat on it's side with lift bag on it up against the bridge at the beginning and in same position at the end Rescue? How? Where?
The boat was towed away elsewhere, which is not on film, unfortunately. Thank you for your comments
Interesting video, hope the owner is insured & gets their boat back up & running soon.
Might of been nice to have had a credit for the video footage

Insurance companies, A-holes
Became submerged?? Sank!
Became submerged is a "posher" way to say it sank... 🙂
A team of true professionals. Well done.
Thankyou very much
Name and shame insurers and surveyor
Although that may help people, it would also be very unprofessional of us to do that and possibly libelous, unfortunately. We would just ask all fellow boaters to go through the T & C's with a fine tooth comb
Good work fellas.’ Does a RCR Gold membership cover this event or did insurance pay?
No, our memberships all just cover break downs, inspections and parts, depending on the cover. Insurance generally covers salvage and re-floating, depending on your cover and I would urge everybody to check their small print and ask questions of their insurers to make sure they are covered for sinking and possible accommodation if you are made homeless. It can be quite and expensive time if you are not covered
Fascinating
Thankyou for watching
What’s a magne ?
The "T" gets lost in the white of the boat - it's "magnet"
Weed hatch missing ! ! I believe that short of a torpedo, sea mine , car crash off a bridge, tree crash on to roof, gas explosion etc etc you got the drift then either weed hatch, stern gland , or modification in the wrong place ( which can happen by stupid humans and has happened) then floating should continue ohh the bilge pump has to be an Automatic one failed and boat left for long periods and lots and lots of rain
Surveyors and insurance companies always manage to cover themselves with get out clauses in the small print
You really do have to read the small print, but please also ask questions when insuring. Do you cover the cost of salvage? Do you need an up to date survey? Does my cover include hotel costs should I find myself homeless due to my boat sinking? Things like that, please ask questions folks, it's very important you get the correct cover for your boat.
Been nice to see the finished job.
Yes that's a good idea for us going forward, we'll follow up what happened to the vessels 👍
Your channel just popped up. I'm your newest subscriber for the moment. I like watching this sort of stuff, it is interesting how you go about getting the boats re-floated.
Thankyou very much, there is plenty more content to come 👍
Same as most boats are floated everywhere, lift bags and big pumps, then something to move the boat to where the customer needs it
🙏✝️🙏🇨🇦
Oh gosh I really feel for the owners 🙏 I’ve never seen a boat raised before I found the video fascinating and RCR really are heroes. Pleased everybody is safe.
Thankyou Helen, our engineers are very highly trained, but they are also hero's
They’re ok. Marina gave them an empty boat to stay till sorted 👏
Thank you guys so much. Incredible work. ❤️
You're very welcome, all the very best. You know where we are
Cannot thank RCR enough. They are an absolute light in the tunnel when things cannot get any blacker
You're welcome Keith, you know where we are.
Very interesting video. What do you use to block holes like this in the hull of aluminium boats like Sea Otters ?
We do also use plastic plugs
This is so interesting I can’t believe how much work goes into it 😳 super hero’s 🥰
Thankyou Helen, our guys are very experienced and extremely well trained. And they love their work too!
Wow amazing, thank you for sharing this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, I’ve recently seen ‘cruising the cut’ talk about this product. Do you manufacture a product that has a draw off for diesel that can be drawn off and disposed of? Recently had a fuel leak on the barge where I had about 20 litres of diesel amongst some water. All taken care of now but would love something like this shown.
Dear Mr Mosley, Thank you for your enquiry and please accept our apologies for the delay in responding to you. The bilge away filter will remove all of the diesel and pump clean water out, so can be used in this situation. However the other option if there is a substantial amount of fuel and you wanted to recover it would be to use a fuel polishing system where the filters will remove the water and pump the fuel back in to a container or tank.
