Never heard "well made" used to describe a tesla.
@@Zenergist you’ve never owned one, apparently. Every new model has issues, and every one is far better that the last. Once you’ve owned and worked on one, you find the weaknesses are easily remedied, and the platform is pretty amazing. With this first generation model 3, it’s primarily cheap rubber in the bushings, the upper control arms and plastic clips on the interior - nothing consequential that can’t be significantly upgraded.
@@modlife I don't own one because I haven't been particularly impressed with the build quality. I do like the design itself. Especially the front interior.
@@Zenergist you go and test drive a new performance… the only build issues with the older model are plastic clips and other easily remedied things. The new one is a huge step up.
@@modlife I will take your word for it. Not in the market for a vehicle ATM. Just bought one actually. At some point, a Tesla might make sense. I like their designs and Musk is a cool cat.
Yep doing this to mine. Thanks for the vid…
u tow with j hooks and put them on the tables, u don t put them in holes of the frame.
Great, thank you!!!
Nice and helpful video. Thank you. I think the rod in between two rear seats of my M3 also in play as well. Do you have any suggestion for that?
@@longyoung6600 nylon washers to thigten them up is the best way I’ve found to eliminate them. If you can pinpoint the rattle, the SC will repair under warranty. I know from experience though that they won’t find one if you can’t show it to them. Thick lithium grease also helps a lot.
Any idea on rattle noise on the back of the Highland SR? after a few 1000km's the rattling started..
@@DvZeno have you checked my other video? I’ve only had the hinges and handles on the back seats rattle.
@@modlife i drive the highland. Looks like it’s the parcel shelf
Does this Ryan have a youtube?? My last name isn't common. I gotta meet this guy! lmao
Westcott designs fender liner pull back kit check it out
Good find - that looks like it would definitely work. I figured sooner or later someone would make something, but it definitely didn't exist when I had the truck!
Thanks for sharing this helpful tutorial. I was struggling with the same rattle from the back seat and your tips were super helpful in getting rid of it.
great video.
Workmanship looks rough chief.
Held up for years before I sold it 🤷♂️
But hey, you’d know best… love your content. Maybe you should make a video on how you do it with your truck?
nice video, music was a bit too loud/unnecessary when the intent of the video was to be able to hear you & the rattles though
Dang you weren’t lying
Perfect. I took a rubber washer, made a cut and slid it in place and tightened it. I did not have to remove all 3 bolts and the seatback. Works like a charm. Thanks!
That’s fantastic! Thanks!
was fairly simple and worked, thx Modlife
🎉
What size lift is on your truck
4” kit plus the 2” factory at4. It’s the same as a 6” kit on a standard 1500
Got a new Y. Thinking I am getting rattling from the seatbelts. Tesla has no clips or anything from preventing the belts from flopping around so wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has come up with a solution. So far, I like the technology of the vehicle but not impressed with their build quality and component quality. Things seem to be cheap!
One of the issues I found was the rear head rests are very loose, and a fix for it is to remove the head rest, put some sticky foam tape down the tube where the headrests slot into, put the headrests back in and this should keep it from rattling about hopefully
Easiest most efficient and expensive way to fix it. Best video. Thanks bro.
This is a great idea that I’ll be doing to my AT4 very soon. Just got some new wheels with a zero offset and i can see exactly where the rub is happening. It’s right where that bracket is located. Thanks for posting!
I think I have a rattle in my new 2024 model Y from this same area (not the seat though). When I looked at the trim that you removed here mines seems to be a single piece that goes all the way back to the lift gate. Wonder if they changed some things in the latest model Y? Haven't had the courage to figure out how to remove that yet as I'm nervous I'll break clips etc.
Just be gentle and pry/pop. Most panels have hooks that require popping them out and lifting vertically. If you have a rattle in a 2024 though. The SC will take care of it for you, so I’d let them.
Got an appointment setup for next week Tuesday. Thanks. @@modlife
And they said they fixed but they didn't...
thank you for sharing.... Will be trying this soon on my 2020 3500 At4
Well he damaged your car he didn't destroy it. He should have just refused to tow it 1) because he didn't have the right equipment and 2) because you were recording him. I myself do not allow people to record me while I'm working. My opinion is if you don't trust me enough that you feel the need to record me than you should just call someone you trust. He was right about the tow hook however... well he was right that it wouldn't work. Because its to one side of the car it won't pull up straight if the cars not in tow mode. Even tho neither of you knew what you were doing they should still pay for the damage or maybe the dealership should get involved since they were the ones who recommended them.
My insurance collected from them. You’re absolutely right that he should have refused the tow, but not because of the cameras… because he didn’t know what he was doing and wouldn’t listen to me. I clearly stressed that you shouldn’t use the battery alignment holes to pull the car.
@@modlife agree to disagree I guess. I'm not sure what you did before you made UA-cam videos but if you approach most people at work and start filming them it's going to create a total work stoppage. Yeah you have the right to film people in public just like that tow company has the right to refuse to service your vehicle.
How to unmount those parts and trims to get there please?
Pull the bottom towards you and then lift up to release the top.
@@modlife will try tnx!
I got a 6inch on a 2020 Sierra 1500 . I’m on 35x13.50x24 I rub , will this possibly work ? Or does it only work for 12.50s?
Worth trying - I don’t know your offset though.
@@modlife darn I bought them off another seller so I’m stuck now with out knowing my offset 🤦🏻♂️😂
@@truckwithme1623 tape measure or ruler works pretty well, too.
Got damn lol I got a 21 Sierra with 2” level on 35s mud flap deleted fender liner trimmed no rub now lol
Batteries don't work in the cold. Elon might be really smart but common sense tells you Batteries suck in cold
They work fine. The new heat pumps are very efficient - I see about 15% range loss at most in this 2022 in temps pushing 0F
Have you tried to drive a Tesla in the snow?
You got sponsorships with less that 2k subs? Make a video on how you did that.
We have nearly 100k across our socials, including personal profiles. UA-cam is a recent focus for us.
We also frequent meets and shows every week nationwide, averaging over 100 events per year.
I just got the same one and and installed on my 3p last week.
So far I love it for around town, but will keep a wheel for track/drift for sure! How is yours working out?
129 ft/ib is 175 nm.. tighter doesnt equal safer, bolts lose their plasticity when overtightened and snap with a little heat or small impact. i was dumb enough to find out the hard way.
The studs are actually rated for 250nm, but wet torque would be 200. 175 is Tesla's spec for mounting the wheels.
oh.. fair@@modlife
I've been trying to find a video showing how to access front passenger floor wells of my Model 3 to dampen the road noise; so if you're interested in doing a video we your subscribers would all be grateful.
I have a bunch of extra dampening material, so this sounds like a great one. My door panels are next.
@modlife Alot of us Model 3 owners would love to see a simple straightforward video showing the door & front floor wells sounds deadned as road noise is a huge nuisance!!. I'm definitely sharing your videos w/friends & making sure they all subscribe. Don't stop what you're doing!!
Yes!! The dashboard rattles on the left & right sides of the dashboard. Also have you done any sound dampening or deadening in the passenger cabin specifically the front?
That's a great one! I forgot all about it - I fixed that within a month of buying the car by placing felt tape between the window and speaker grill. I'll make it a point to cover that in another video!
Have you tried a yoke? Any thoughts?
Are there any other rattles we can help you pinpoint and fix?
C pillars rattles are annoying me
@@noyb9284 those are easy - pop off the panels stick a little foam tape behind any loose wiring, and over the clip holes.
@modlife Tracking but I'm nervous pulling panels w/o seeing it done on youtube😃😃
@modlife Appreciate you always answering quickly though. I'm trying to support your channel as much as possible.
C pillars here also Pulled mine back and found the alignment pin wasn’t even lined up with the hole The clips are wasted or missing They look a little different than the generic ones I’ve seen for years Got any tips on oem style clips that don’t cost a fortune?
Sir, what size was the wssher?
I made mine, but I’d suggest pulling the bolt and hitting the hardware store with it.
Will do@@modlife

Can you post a link to where you got the nylon washer please?
I made it from a piece of nylon I had laying around. I would take the bolt out and hit the hardware store with it.
@@modlifethank you!
You hit a big enough bump while turned, you gonna get some more damage..
I’ve since sold the truck, but believe me, there was tight but adequate clearance for those tires and wheels. I can’t speak for any other setup.
Thanks for this. Looks like I can do the same for my 2021 Silverado.
Yes - 100% the same truck
If you got spacers this wont solve your problem
That depends on your wheel offset. These are a 0 offset 10” wide wheel, which would be the equivalent of putting 15mm spacers on your stock wheels.
What exactly is the purpose of the bracket you removed?
It holds the mudflap in place - nothing more.
