This is so true. All of it. As I have told many people who feel overwhelmed. Rome wasn't built in a day. In this context, the project car isn't either. Break it down into steps. Handle things in small increments. Do you have 10 minutes. Do the car thing. Loosen a few of the bolts. Get a few more done tomorrow when you have those few minutes to spare. Before you know it, that one part is off. Then another. And another. You have to rebuild them, right? Same bit. Take it a few steps at a time. Before you know it, the repair will be done. Having a project car and working on it is a labor of love. That's why you bought it. That's why you are working on it. When this phase is done, it'll be great, and I think you know that too. When it comes to money, you have to save it in the same manner. Few of us can spend a few grand on taking something like this to a shop to have them work on it. There's no problem taking something to a professional. If you are like me, body work, wheel bearings, and drum brakes can be handled by a pro. I'll pass, thank you.

me with my 1995 Celica GT. Gas leak (small crack I'm hoping ) , Oil gasket failure. Rear brakes not yet finished, need to replace rear rotor, drum brakes, caliper bracket bolts are stripped, windshield is cracked, engine has low idle. I'm taking a break, I feel overwhelmed, I just changed the starters and the work looks endless to me at the moment, since when I start a job it takes multiple days to finish it.

Merci mec. Merci encore !

My microcar still Loks good but mechanically it's a nightmare, I'm now only remove rust and give it some fresh paint because to fix the problems it costs a lot, you have to take stuff apart without instructions and install them without, first take it apart to look what is the correct part, the oem parts running out so you take copies then you wait mostly 2 Months for the parts, then installing them and after 2 years they are broken or worn down. Example: the belt for the transmission started ripping apart and the part came after 3 weeks but solong I hat to drive with the damaged one in the city, because it was partly ripped it was like I was start driving in 2. or 3. gear which ate the plain bearing of the transmission but I got 10k km more out of them, installed the copie ones because the oem ones aren't available anymore that are now done after 10k km. More defects: The injectors getting stuck because the fuel we got here. Driver side the speakers don't work anymore, the kabels need replacement fore which you have to strip the driver and passenger dor where the doorpannes only can removed if you take the doors of the hinges and for that you have to remove the carpet on the flore which is also hold on from the center console and to get to the connector of the cabels you have to take take the dashboard apart... A asshole has hit the rear left wheel probably by turning in the street and has left (no security cameras there) which bend a bit the entire frame, but the hole Axel where are not much is to adjust it... Now I just keep it running til I got my higher driving license done and then I will sell it

I am at the Point where i just have to get it on the Trailer, get it to the dealership and they have to check it for road legality because i fear something is comming up again since i already had it at the dealership for 3 times. I litterally did everything myself, every single thing, i took it apart to the last bolt, made anything and if you find out something is not quite right at the end you are bummed out it rather would want to sell it than keep going, i agree with you that you dont have to do everything yourself. I postponed this now since a while but i bring it to the dealership tomorrow. Its a Mercedes Unimog 404 and thanks for your motivational words !
