Allan Sherman tells a kid she's not that good looking and she cries.
So sad that he actually ended up dying from being overweight in the end.
This video still resonates with me
My favorite song from him is when he sang about eggs.
I grew up in the 1950's - there were still dentist surgeries with signs saying "painless dentist". They were THE most blatant lying hounds. They would come at you with a big syringe and force it into your jaw bone, and that sure did hurt. But I got my own back when I was about 7. The dentist said "close now" but he forgot to take his finger out first, so I bit it. Hard apparently - I couldn't really tell because my jaw was numb. He sure danced around, yelling and carrying on. He blamed me but it was his own silly fault. My mother could hardly stop laughing. They aren't much better today. They have a tendency to say "open wide" - fair enough. Then they say "Relax Keit... OPEN WIDE! relax, OPEN WIDE ..." I feel like saying "make up your mind - which do you want?"
I'm curious who is playing Miss Clinger? She looks like a giant when standing next to Allan! I'm sure that he's just short and she looks tall thanks to her hair and heels.
He gave Louie Prima a run for his money!
This guy was GREAT!
🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Classic Sherman..
The people being him appear to be the choir.
I stopped at the sidewalk, put my hand over my heart and iv'e been yelling 'Hail to thee, Fat Person' for the last 20 years.
I love his songs! Wow, how did I just now discover these?
My favorite is Automation, look for it
@jack002tuber... Cheers Jack for Automation!🤣 Flippin hate technology!! For example, I'd always rather talk to myself than a machine!!!🤗
It was automation I know, its what was making the factory go........
@jack002tuber... funny thing is tho...I'm a technophobe!🤣
Yes "give in to the itching g skin"🤸♀️💜🎵🎵🎵
Not to mention, what is love all about? Skin. Ashley Judd as Ruby in "Ruby in Paradise" (1993) had a line where she said something like this. "Everyone says it's what's inside that counts but skin is what counts." Sherman did his version of self-effacing humor, it was his comic shtick, but he was really a savage social critic. Just read his books. He knew was what he was getting at.
The first verse was the one I really liked.."You've gotta have skin ....when you' got it on the outside, It helps keep your insides in" catchy tune too, pinched from Alan Jay Lerner
What’s the music playing in the background ??
It's the music to "That Old Black Magic".
Hello, I also have best suggestion for choice back scratcher ua-cam.com/video/tSDViLVEwwE/v-deo.html

Mom was a huge Allan fan. It rubbed off on me.
And that's a good thing.
I listened to this a lot was I was kid. It may explain my interest in cryptography...and my warped sense of humor...
Dove
why hippies dropped acid..
Same here
Love the big musical arrangements behind his funny songs.
I have the album this is on the whole album is hilarious
Would this be considered one of the earliest “music videos?” Also A+ for Allan Sherman!
I am pretty sure this dentist and his nurse Miss Klinger have something going on it was the sexy 60s after all love this song you can literally dance to it
Simply inspiring :') RIP Allan Sherman
They left off about a minute's worth on this song..... "When you were just a little baby, Well your skin fit fine, And it still is gonna fit you,When you're 6 foot 9,So whether you're fat, tall, big, small, chubby or THINNNNNNNNN....Ain't ya glad ya got SKINNNNNNNNN?" Not too bad of a memory!
He left off the last part: "S was nine and L was thirty-three,/Oh how that confused the enemy!/Then, a recent survey showed,/That I don't understand my secret code."
Groovy, man!
"I hum while you're bleeding..." Hahahahahaha!!!!!
When he wrote this song, he started from scratch.
+tirmyta Boom Boom
A natural
My cousin is a dentist. He would absolutely love this!!!
loving this! so funny!
Still funny I. 2020
"Open wide and Miss Klinger will squirt". He's Dr. Prentiss, dyslectic dentist!
The original dentist role play ASMR.
k(re)b2 33-12(n)k ! [letters in parentheses are not coded]
He was Great! Too bad he left us at such an early age. Loved his humor!
Damon Kwante Yeah, he was great! Love his stuff
Funny...... but his nurse kept distracting my attention from the lyrics. My own stupid dentist for a while convinced me to go without novocaine, he charged a dollar extra for the injection. WHAT HAPPENED TO AMERICA? Nothing is funny here anymore. No subtle enjoyment, everything perverse and in your face.
Wow, I never had the board game but I remember this commercial right down to the lyrics. An Allan Sherman fan then and now.
The squirt line is probably innocent. It would be another couple of years before the female orgasm was invented, thanks to diligent research by a team of medical students and a waitress called Daphne. The aforementioned unmentionable didn't come till much, much later.
If you've read Overweight Sensation, you'd realize that he created I've Got A Secret and chose the guests (and told the panelists) to add subtle sexual innuendo for ratings, so the SQUIRT line is NOT as innocent as you imply.
My cousins Mark and Jon Marquart used to sing this when I was little, and I loved it.
Brilliant. Simply brilliant.
His the best
That's a great one ALLAN! Unheard by us before... would make a great commercial for a dentist,.. ALLAN SHERMAN LIVES in OLDIES COUNTRY, where we're enjoying this now, big band and all...facebook.com/oldiescountry
Hail to thee!
This is so great, so clever and hilarious! Does anyone know the name of the original song he is singing to?
Yes it's "The Continental" from a Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers musical movie, The Gay Divorcee. It was the first song to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song, 1934.
@@KNP51 this is from the 50s or 60s. If it was from the 30s this song Allan Sherman would had been 11 a child.

once hear funny song, "I Went to Your Wedding." Man sing, and next line, "Although it was dreading..." then much laugh. Very funny song. Cannot find on YT.
No. It was not.
Why don't you work it out using grade-school math? Then get back to us.
