Why TS!Underswap Chara is Amazing (Analysis)

Chara in Undertale, is a character that has generated a lot of discussion and caused a lot of split opinions throughout the fanbase; This isn’t all that surprising though considering the role they play in Undertale. Another point in favor of Frisk being the entity is within the FAQ page of the TSU website. Under the question "What headcanons does this project follow?" It mentions the inclusion of the "narrator Chara" theory. Obviously, Chara is still the narrator in this game, so Frisk as the Entity implements and swaps them in a way that still keeps their presence within the game's dialog boxes, but preserves their determination to move forward. Although Frisk could still also be Pride Temmie with this information, as they are the narrator of the prologue; swapping the role in a literal sense.
What's not to say that firsk is pride temmie and the narrator?
@@earspontherobloxplayer1744 well we know Frisk is not the narrator because all of the narration is in first-person, showing that it is actually Chara narrating the game.
With the idea that all 7 Temmies are suppose go get significant identities... I think it makes the most sense to me that all 7 of them wind up as the 7 humans that fell before Chara. Since there's not many other groups of people that it could be.... and that would include having one of them be Frisk (would be a little weird if only 6 were human, and the 7th ws just randomonly a monster). As a side note, I couldn't help but notice while you were showing the clips, that when that First Temmie dropped it's act in the battle screen, it was colored Cyan instead of White. Cyan being a color associated with Patience and (presumably) the first (or maybe in TS!Underswap, the last) human to fall down (not counting the red souled humans). Maybe it's just grasping at straws, but if it turns out that the Temmies are the "reincarnations-of sorts" of the humans... then maybe that first temmie was the Cyan Souled Human... it did mention having waited a long time since it had it's soul.

I didn't know there was a theory about Frisk being Flowey. Honestly, I really like it. I still think that Frisk being the entity makes a bit more sense (especially now with the devs giving clues that seem to point in that direction), but if Frisk ends up being Flowey it'd definitely be just as cool. Especially with that dialogue with "Someday you'll find a relentless killer and sparing won't help" (something among those lines), like, what if Frisk has fallen because they thought they could mercy their way on everyone, only to find out some people can't be spared too little too late?
Frisk Is Just A Ghost In My Head That Insists Me To Kill
I predict we just won't see frisk at the end of ruthless as Chara likely won't let us, I think they will die the same way they do in undertale by poisoning themselves at the end of ruthless after the temmies are killed I think it would add more parallels to the TS! Underswap universe and create a bigger nuanced mystery around frisk
@@blazie42069 I don’t know if they’d have anything to poison themselves on hand, but I see it, or at least the idea of Chara taking over Frisk at the end of Ruthless. I see Chara attempting to erase themselves as something that will be hinted at more in the Neutral route.
@@kamera1890i mean we know there are likely buttercups in the throne room
21:57 Let's pause here for a moment and let Frisk aside for this little moment. Now, i don't want to theorize about Frisk in *this* comment, but about which human souls would be each one of them, following the logic of the humans souls being the Temmies. Well, since we don't have any traits about the humans souls more than their soul meaning, we can only connect them trough this trait of them. Im going to start with the easiest ones. First, Pride, could be obviously Frisk by the arguments given in the video. Second, sloth. That would be easily patience, since that patience can be perceived as "not doing anything" by some people in some situations. I propose that Patience is sloth because i don't think that the other human souls fit in a better way with this trait. The next one is wrath. I think that wrath could be an corrupted version of Justice, filled of anger by how unfair the world has been with them, and, by being consumed for their own feelings, forgetting about the importance of justice. It could be also kindness, since they could be exponentially mad with everyone by how they were treated despite of their attempts of being kind with everyone. Greed could be a corrupted sense of perseverance, trying to achieve anything at any cost no matter what. Now the last three and the hardest ones. Lust, envy and gluttony. Gluttony could be kindness since... you know... kindness has a pan, thus it theorically should know how to cook... the connections aren't that deep. But besides kindness, im not sure who else it could be. It could be any of the human souls, actually. Envy and Lust could be both integrity, since both are... basically the opposite of what integrity is supposed to be. However, being lustful or a sexually active person doesn't means that you can't contain certain integrity, it just means that you have a possible addiction with sex. Nothing more. Also, that belief of "sex = no integrity" is outdated nowadays. Even then, I still believe that while lust could fit integrity it could also fit envy (and a lot better) as how that envy of they could lead to the integrity soul to abandon their morals. And lust could be bravery, since it takes certain bravery to enter in a new world like sex and to trust the people with you would have these interactions (and more if they're unknown persons).
Wait till the end of ruthless when people blame frisk for everything! It's gonna be the early 2015 undertale fanon all over again!

@@based980 i assume they ment 2016
The Flowey and Pride Temmie theories have more weight to them than I initially thought, but I still think the Entity is the strongest theory. For one, the devs said that Frisk would be about as important as Chara in Undertale, if not less. Chara in Undertale, even going with NarraChara, doesn't really have anything to do in the story. They just ramble about what's happening around them. They don't really make any real choices (outside of maybe the end of Genocide when the narration starts going all first person, that whole part is super weird). If Frisk was Flowey or Pride Temmie, they would be quite a bit more active and important in the overall story than Chara was in Undertale. There's also naturally the question of HOW Frisk would become either of them, but based on the books, it seems they may be trying to imply humans can have an Asriel moment, so maybe that is what they're going for. Secondly, we never see any dialogue from Frisk in Undertale, and with how TS!Underswap is being very compliant to canon and intentionally leaving things vague that the original game left vague, I find it hard to believe that they would give Frisk all of this dialogue in the form of Flowey or Pride Temmie. Imo, Frisk making monologues would be very jarring and not feel very much like Frisk, and while I could definitely see AU content doing that, TS!Underswap in particular I have a hard time believing would do that, due to how they seem to be going about sticking to Undertale. Finally, the player cannot be the Entity. Look at basically anyone who has ever played TS!Underswap. All of us get to the scene in Asgore's house and are like "NOOOO LET US STAY". For the Entity to be us, it would have to be US, choosing to do what WE want to do. We are being forced to choose those options. You can argue "Oooh but you don't HAAAVE to choose those options, you can choose the OTHER thing" but that doesn't change the point, that when we move to those options wanting to choose them, something that is not us switches the options to something that we don't want. It can't be us. I don't know HOW so many player theories across Undertale, Deltarune, and its fan content all forget the fact that we don't WANT to do any of this stuff that is being pawned off on us. (Because I know it'll be brought up if I don't specify this, when I mention Deltarune, I'm not saying Snowgrave, Snowgrave is totally on us, I'm referring to how a lot of people villainize the player for controlling Kris even in Pacifist, when we very much don't want that either and would rather have our vessel we personally created.) It's literally us, we know better than anyone we don't want this stuff, how do these theories keep happening? Speaking of Deltarune, Player VS Character is also very much Deltarune's thing, and considering TS!Underswap went as far as to reword their script to change "Proceed" to "Forward" to avoid copying Deltarune, I highly doubt that they're going to do the same Player VS Character thing that Deltarune is going for. With all of that being said... Frisk being the Entity fixes all of the issues here. The Entity feels about as important as Chara in Undertale, fits better with a Chara and Frisk swap, doesn't have to tackle the issue of how Frisk turning into Flowey or a Temmie would work, doesn't have any real dialogue just implied dialogue via choices just like Frisk, and isn't the player. It is by far the strongest candidate. That isn't to say the other candidates don't have weight, I particularly find the idea of the 7 Temmies being the 7 Humans VERY fascinating, (And Flowey saying he's best friends with Asriel is VERY alarming), but the other candidates are messy and have various flaws and holes. The Entity is the cleanest one to explain everything.
@@accomplishedshipyard I do generally agree with your first 2 points, but I don’t think Player Entity is as unbelievable as this makes it sound. It’s important to remember that besides Asgore’s home, literally every single Entity dialogue is optional, and the player has to actively choose those options. The dialogues in general are designed broadly to reflect our true intentions, which is to either complete the game or to see what content is in the game. This is not to demonize the player for playing the game, because I don’t think TS!Underswap is going that route, but rather testing your ability to self-insert in the game. Considering Chara and the Player’s relationship in Undertale, I actually believe it’s more canon-complicit for the Player to be the Entity if we want to go down that route, especially since the Entity’s control seems to manifesting by influencing how Chara actually feels, rather than just controlling every movement in their body like what’s implied for Kris. Regardless, as I mentioned in the video, if Frisk is the entity, then we have the whole issue of one of the Temmies or Flowey just likely missing an identity, which can only really be fixed through convoluted explanations. Overall, I still think the Entity being Frisk is a very likely possibility, but there’s a plenty of room to argue other possibilities.
4:09 While it is possible these could belong to someone, I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be funny reference to Toy Story. (Andy’s name being at the bottom of Woody’s shoe).
hell yeah
I love ts underswap!
Good video. In my opinion I do not see Frisk be evil which I'm glad they devs didn't choose. Unlike Chara Frisk based on their descriptions is a good kid. They may be mischevous at times but they're good child. Personally speaking having Flowey as Pride Temmie would be too obvious. And I'm unsure if Frisk should be the entity. The closest theory I agree is Frisk being Flowey in this AU or maybe they're something else who knows.
Yeah, at maximum, they can be harsh with the things that they say (for example, telling to Snowdrake that nobody is going to love him for who he is in the original Undertale) but, mostly, they don't want to kill anybody, they just use self-defense if necessary. They're a bit childish and a bit flirty too, but in certain occasions can feel a bit awkward by doing so (for example, when we flirt with Toriel. She says that we don't look comfortable doing so).
It's insane how we could craft so many theories about the craracter who only appeared once and most of them even make sense

Good analysis
I think it's plausible that Flowey might have a soul in TS, it would explain why he seems friendlier and more patient. If this is the case it would tie in to the ruthless route being about overobsession. Chara tries to kill temmie, who directly states they are soulless, but, they don't seem to show much hostility to Flowey, Flowey is meant to be a reflection of the player after all. We don't know whether Flowey had the power to save/load prior or the temmies. There's evidence both ways, but from my point of view, one is acting in response to another. If it's the temmies who could save and load before Chara arrived, Flowey would be in a groundhog day type scenario. Having no input on the resets and stuck in a time loop until the temmies get bored. Alternatively, if Flowey could save and load. The temmies would be a major obstacle, acting to him much the same way flowey acted to frisk in undertale. Flowey might have a more friendly outlook on life, but as a result of the temmies and the resets, he's gone a bit disconnected this why he's on your side regardless of what route you're on since, he's probably been there before. Anyways, rant over.
Pretty sure I heard bratty and catty are appearing here
1:05 She also drops it during a fun event, if you go to the Dogi station, she'll check in with her accent, Chara responds by screaming into the microphone, causing Alphys to drop the accent completely and profusely apologize, believing she has contacted the wrong station
I think Koffin K could make a good actor, if he tried that career. He could still keep up his villain persona, but use it to entertain people, instead of, like you said, causing harm and being annoying. He would be adored, instead of hated. He would be able to work with people who do appreciate him. What do you think about that idea?
@@alfiebell6058 Koffin-K being an actor could be really fun, I love the idea ❤️
In fact, I believe more in the Duet of Sans and Papyrus, because it will be something really interesting, because surprisingly there is no fan game where there was a duet of Sans and Papirosych, because the merciless path is like a difficult mode here, and what could be the final test, if not two skeletons that give you a punch in the face. in general it would be brilliant if in the final court, when we arrive, Sans will be standing, and then he will judge, and then Papyrus will appear and will be the Lawyer, and will try to justify our actions, well, or also judge, we can do the opposite, that we will first see Papyrus, and then Sans will come, this will not destroy the underswap, because Sans will still be the second boss, and Papyrus will still be the judge, and will only be the boss in genocide, like Sans in the original. (that was my opinion on this matter).
Thanks For Calling Me Amazing
6:46 Actually, I have a theory about this. I think Frisk is behind it. Think about it: the Player never could overwrite the options, only choose one. However, here we see someone REWRITE them. Rewrite them to choices FRISK would do in the original UNDERTALE. That most likely means Frisk wants to get out of the Underground for whatever reason, but they are a lot more of a passive character, only activating when needed, but still hoarding control.
TS!Underswap True Google Route
I hate (and love) how this makes me want more out of what essentially isn't even there I want more of the nothing
Excellent analysis! In my opinion a lot of Undertale Yellow's messaging is overlooked, so this is a really nice reminder of how well the game hinted at certain topics. I would like to see perhaps in a future video a deeper look at the Clover-Martlet analysis, since in my opinion it is a major thing not often discussed. I will leave a little paragraph below justifying it. Clover and Martlet's bond is nothing short of special, and the game made it pretty obviously one of it's main focuses . I mean, it's assumed that Clover is just a kid who had a questionable home life at best, who moved on as soon as he fell. What I find most interesting is how he views Martlet, considering like with Toriel, in a similar fashion, as soon as he is shown a speck of love and affection, he is willing to drop his mission to find the kids and stay with her in the neutral ending, so it is quite obvious he appreciates her as a parental/caretaker figure way more than Ceroba. After all Martlet plays a crucial role in all 3 of the main routes of the game. In pacifist, most obviously, he spends the most amount of time with her, was worried for her wellbeing while in the jail, eand her voice being the climax of his "revelation" in the "Gift" cutscene about Clover being a "kind soul". Or how in neutral, he drops everything regarding his mission to talk to her on the rooftop, like, even Flowey tried to persuade him and even made a good point that he was the only one who was always by his side, but still to no avail he would end up being won by her proposal. NONE of Clover's dialogue options when asked to live with her are a refusal, at best just silence, which also show a lot of restraint in refusing her. And most interestingly, in genocide, he showed a fuckton of restraint exclusively for her, I mean he let her off the hook twice, and when he saw she was the only one who tried to see "good" in him, he showes difficulty in finding a real reason to hate her to finish her off. He does look in the final bosses memories in all routes, but here, it is different. In genocide, he always shot first and asked questions later,. Clover had to constantly remind himself of his goals with 1 word sentences to not lose focus, ("home", "freedom" "reconciliation" "closure")...I mean, by that point on the final geno fight he is too far gone, but I always interpreted it as even by that point struggling to find a reason to TRULY hate her, I mean, she was the only one who tried to see good in him until the bitter end. And I 100% guarantee that if the genocide route happened at some point before a true pacifist, Clover would end up resetting out of regret (I mean why would the game give us a choice to do that in the first place? I know repliability and all, but this always got me thinking).
That's a good analysis! I wish that it was expanded in the game more though
I thought it was pretty obvious that “the entity” is Frisk, the same way the Frisk’s “entity” is Chara in Undertale, it would make sense that Frisk takes a more Flowey like approach because in Undertale, you are playing as Frisk and the player isn’t possessing Frisk or anything like that unlike in Deltarune, so Frisk is meant to represent us instead of the player being diegetic to the game, so TS!Underswap Frisk is a lot more like us and Flowey because they represent us in Undertale
Wait, are you sure that Frisk isn't possessed by the player? Because, in first place, the player and Frisk are not the same being, but as how you said, Frisk only represents the player. Represents. Because there are clearly evidence that suggests that Frisk itself haves a personality in Undertale (Being someone patient, someone that wouldn't make fun of another people pain, likes healthy food, etc). While the player doesn't haves any kind of predefined personality (because after all, we aren't a character, but an entity that interacts trough the world with a vessel (Frisk in undertale case and Kris in deltarune)). So I highly doubt about how much Frisk isn't possessed by us (remember, Chara DOESN'T possess anyone in undertale, they are just an invisible force that is in our side). And if Frisk doesn't acts so aggressively as how Kris does, it could be because; • They maybe have differents (and probably healthier) ways to cope with it. • They may not even have the same resistance as Kris • They may not even realize that we are the ones that takes the actions, or even knew about our existence. Heck, maybe Frisk thinks that all of their actions are made by themselves. Now, I want to theorize about how TS!Frisk is going to be portrayed. If we take into account how UT!Chara role was the search of power, then maybe the same role should go to Frisk in this scenario. However, UT!Frisk never speaks in the base game (makes sense, after all, Chara is the narrator, thus, giving limitations to know when Frisk speaks by themselves (being on weird occasions)). Which also makes sense as why in TS!Underswap, Chara is still the narrator and why she says things like "I won", instead of "You won". Now, how Frisk would reach for power, when their personality is about not harming people and doing things in a more peaceful way? There's a lot of different possibilities about how Frisk wants power and how it could achieve it without the need of killing. But for that, we should assume that Frisk haves a different meaning of what's power for them. Maybe, in comparison to UT!Chara, TS!Frisk believes that power is having a high social status, a high influence and warriors over their side. If that's truth, then, TS!Frisk maybe want us to do the compassionate route because that fills them with power. Or what they consider as power, at least. Which it would make sense, because in comparison to Sans and Chara, Frisk doesn't haves a proper number, thus, not looking for Power... or at least not as how Chara does. Now, what if instead of TS!Frisk having the same role of UT!Chara (searching power), it just occupies her situation? (Being a Ghostly being that is in our side). If that's is, perhaps, then TS!Frisk is maybe completely innocent. Maybe TS!Frisk just wants to help TS!Chara to go trough a prettier path than a rough one. Which, then, I would dare to say that TS!Frisk maybe is going to appear in the compassionate ending, being revived as how Chara does in undertale but in the opposite way. But isn't going to have a lot of influence and dialogue. While in the Ruthless route is going to start to speak more and try to help Chara to change for a better path? For example, what about when TS!Chara yelled... wasn't towards to the player but towards Frisk? What if the "I don't want to keep doing this" or similar options isn't what Chara wanted to say but what FRISK wants to Chara to say? If that's so, then that's creppy, because it means that Chara isn't being forced to anything, but that she's *resisting* Frisk Help. If Frisk really wants to help Chara in TS!Underswap, then it would make complete sense that it exist the evacuation route, a route that doesn't exist in other fangames. A route which consists about Chara trying to become a better self after her past mistakes. In any case, TS!Frisk is going to be really interesting.

The fact that Chara uses the Act option on Larry is more cruel than the Fight option imo
