    I am a Canadian who will be retiring to Albania. I speak fluent English, know enough French, Spanish and Italian to get by. But, wow... Albanian is hard!! At least I have 3 years to prepare. Thank you so much for the helpful lesson! Cheers from Canada!

      You are right. And I will add this: Nothing worth achieving in life is easy to achieve. And the mere fact that you want to retire here is amazing! It shows you love connecting with people and learning new things. And Albanian will help you reach that goal. Albanians are highly appreciative of foreigners who even try to say something in Albanian, no matter how bad it is. Because we, too, know how complex a language it is. I wish you all the best and I humbly hope my course will make it slightly easier to crack the language.

    Learning Albanian for me is like trying to bicycle in sand, it needs extra efford to start to move it. Learning verbs groups with each pronoun such as "Unё mёsoj, Ti mёson, Ai/Ajo mёson, Ne mёsojme, Ju mёsoni, Ata/Ato mёsojnё" to hard to pick up any first-time-seen-verbs. Here in Smart Albanian with Jonis, he makes it as simple & practical & logical as possible to understand it in a very positive approach by instead of over-loading 6 pronouns at once he just let you to practice first with "unё mёsoj and ju mёsoni" 1st singular and 2nd plural forms of pronouns. This is also very logical with in the daily conversation life from simple to more complex situations. Falёminderit shumё

      Wow! Thanks for your amazing feedback! If I ever turn this course into a longer format (which I hope to do), I'd be happy to use your words in the marketing campaigns. It is succinct and actually captures the very essence of the entire course. Indeed, I didn't want to overload the course with pronouns that you don't really need in the beginning. You need to focus first on yourself and on the other person who is next to you (you formal) and maybe someone else (him/her). But 'we', 'they', 'you sing.', can wait. Keep learning! And participate using the pause button after I give you the prompt. Let me know how it goes!

    Experience from another serial language learner : Well done ! Excellent method to learn the language, starting from the basics and most useful part of the language from the beginning. Maybe visuals could have helped but that is more work. Sometimes we do bot hear if the siubd is a T or a D for example, and seeing the word written would help.

    • @smartalbanianwithjonis4189
      @smartalbanianwithjonis4189 8 місяців тому

      You are right! Visuals would help. For that reason, I added subtitles. One of the purpose of the method is to force learners to learn how to listen and pay attention. If you cannot listen well, you cannot emulate the sounds. Maybe the sound quality could be better, but I used what I could back then, and it was a pair of 5-euro headphones. So turn on the subtitles as they may help to see how words are written. Using visuals would be really time-consuming and not viable financially for the time being (unless I had a trusted assistant). Thank you a lot for your comment! As a language learner myself, I appreciate your comment deeply as it comes out of a sense of care.

    Faleminderit, shume. I have found it difficult to learn the alphabet but this video really helped. I managed to learn the first 18 letters last night. Please continue to do videos, they are very good

      Thank you! Keep studying more than just the basics. It gets easier when you actually pronounce the words. And don't forget to turn on the subtitles. It might help especially at first. Happy learning!

      @smartalbanianwithjonis4189 Thank you, I'm determined to learn no matter how difficult or how long it takes. I know I will never be fluent. I can read and understand some parts of conversations better than I thought, it's the speaking that's not easy. I listen to lots of albanian stuff every day, at the gym, at work and at night in bed when going to sleep, watch albanian TV, listen to songs and download the lyrics and practice until i can sing them perfectly. I have worked my way through every albanian app I can find just to get used to the sounds and learn the basics. My albanian partner is helping me to actually say things properly. It really is a beautiful language. I didn't like how it sounded at first but the more I listened the more I loved it. I even speak to my English speaking friends in albanian if I can although they don't understand what I'm saying. Hopefully one day I will be able speak well enough to hold a conversation, even with my Scottish accent.

      @@GQ-yj5oy I can see you are super determined. And that deserves nothing but respect. I created this series for people like you, i.e. whose partner/spouse is Albanian and they want to speak. It's easier to understand the language passively. It's a whole different game to actually speak it. And that's where this course comes into play. I'd like to see your progress by the end of the fourth module (go to the playlists as they don't show properly here because of some YT stuff). I'm curious to see how effective this course will be for you. As for the sounding... Well, Albanian doesn't sound that bad (compare to Dutch for instance). But it is highly idiomatic when it comes to the everyday life. I hope this minicourse helps you to build your own simple, but useful sentences which you can use right away. If you have any questions, let me know. J.

      @smartalbanianwithjonis4189 Thank you so much, all help is greatly appreciated. Yes I'm determined to learn, even if things didn't work out with my partner I still want to learn. Albanian culture, traditions, country fascinate me, im quite obsessdd. Most people here in Uk know nothing about Albania but are quick to judge based on what they see in the media (I'm in Scotland) but I'm sure if they learned more they would have a different viewpoint. Your country is absolutely beautiful and your people are so friendly and kind, I didn't have a good opinion about Albanians before but I'm not embarrassed to admit I was very wrong, I love you all. I will 100% work through the modules you have suggested and will let you know how I'm progressing when finished. Thanks again for your videos on here and also for replying. It's really appreciated.

      @@GQ-yj5oy I'm impressed by your resolve. Well done! That's admirable! And I'm sorry to hear things didn't work out with your partner, but I'm happy you still didn't let a "failure" to dictate your life. That's a pretty tough thing to do, but you seem to have won. Well, negative press that generates anger, resentment, hate, and fear, get's more views, hence more money. No wonder people are willing to go at length to make things up or to twist things. It's sad that you rarely, if ever, hear of anyone who has earned a honest living. We like the exceptions, not the norm. I look forward to reading your comment at the end of module IV. I hope you will be able to say some simple sentences and gain more confidence in learning on your own. It's a minicourse after all and you cannot expect much, but if it inspires you to delve deeper, then it has been worth the trouble preparing it (i'its very demanding). Wishing you all the best, Jonis

    I know this video was posted quite some time ago but I’m just about to start the second module and I’m so happy that I found this channel! I’ve tried learning using a few different books and it was a pretty frustrating experience. Your course is the closest I found to the Duolingo method so far (it’s a bit disappointing that Albanian is not included in Duolingo, really). Great work!

      @@syarafinaradzi Yes, Module IV is the last module I could prepare. Normally, there should be more because there is so much more to cover, but I haven't been able to upload new modules because I don't have the right equipment (no good microphone etc.). So, unfortunately, you are stuck with what there is.
