I love how a lot of Maretu's music is almost like heavy metal compressed into 8-bit and chiptune. It's like you can vaguely feel a guitar riff that isn't actually there.

sad/tragic stories turned into upbeat songs is Yoasobi's specialty lol yoasobi - racing into the night is another one of their songs I'd recommend, it's what really got me into their stuff and it's another tragic story with upbeat music lol

Minami is probably the only singer imo that comes close to Ado in terms of conveying emotions through her singing especially in the area of vulnerability. This was a breakout hit for her despite the mixed reception of Domestic Girlfriend itself. Love or hate the series most can agree Minami killed the song and it usually ranks super high on many people anime opening rankings. Manga btw are the Japanese equivalent of comics and usually are adapted into Anime which is just a truncated name for Japanese Animation as a whole. Hope that helps.

If you enjoyed the bass line in this one, you're going to love Zutomayo - Time Left. I saw a bunch of music reactors that don't really do anime music/jpop reactions but were gushing over the track, the band, and especially the bass line.

This is such a beautiful song. You don't need to know the lyrics to feel the emotions, right? I don't know, but there's some level of expressiveness in Japanese women's vocals that just works for me. I think the breathiness of the vocals is a huge factor. It sounds more personal, as if she's singing right into my ear, not a microphone. I knew this song way before I learned what anime it's from and it's funny, because it's a pretty "trashy" story about a guy hooking up with a girl right before coming home and learning that his dad and his hookups mum are getting married, which makes them step-siblings. I'm definitely going to watch it at some point, but from what people are saying it's a guilty pleasure at worst, and a surprisingly good romance hidden behind a very out of pocket gimmick.

Fun fact to the MV, the page in the book at the end says "how to deal with rowdy teenagers", and there are actual hints to that in the song. The the room with the bars in the back looks like a baby bed, the chainsaw like a pacifier and the club/baseball bat like a rattle.

By the way, interesting information - Maretu, the author of the song, is diagnosed with autism. He is a famous concert keyboardist and vocaloid producer. He is considered a master of the Phrygian scale.

Since you don't play games, I'll let you know this song hits harder with context. Sevagoth is a Ship captain of a Ship called the Tempestarii. He's like Space Davy Jones Ferrying lost souls to safety from a storm in space called the void. Near death he separated his soul from his body to keep the ship operating to ferry lost souls in his absence. Only stopping his service once you free him from his fate. The singer of this song is actually the villain of the chapter this story is based on. She's part of a faction in the game that's based on Greed, Corpus. The Tempestarii served in a war in the game called the Old war and shot her ship down while she was in an exosuit that saved her. While she was adrift in space, she could only see her fallen comrades and sisters, Solitude in the void made her imagine they were singing with her while adrift. This song plays as Sevagoth's soul protects your unconscious body after she attacks the player. Sevagoth's final mission was to save your life before extinguishing his soul. It's an amazing story told mostly through visuals and very little dialogue.

You should still read the lyrics of Unravel. They're very deep and heart felt.

There is a video of Su-Metal singing to a click track live from Nippon Budakon in 2014. So you can hear her raw. Though the sound quality isn't great. Just search for "Rondo of Nightmare-Suzuka's in ear monitor sound". But I would listen to 'Rondo of Nightmare' with the Kami band intro first.

. Su uses very little to no vibrato and her nasal resonance can cut through the loud heavy guitars and drums like a laser. If you watch the song "Monochrome First Take piano Version" you can see Su clearly using her nose to manipulate the tone of her voice by scrunching it in certain parts.

Thanks for this reaction. What wasn't clear to me: I guess you were recently introduced to Babymetal, but don't know Polyphia well ? It might be good to state more clearly what you know and how much. Babymetal have many amazing songs and live performances. Babymetal's main singer Su-metal is the center and very talented, from early days. Babymetal started when they were still kids 11,11 and she was 12. Maybe the most popular Babymetal song is Megitsune and I would recommend to react to a live performance. Maybe you can talk about her singing based on that song. The part about the timecode you did not mention is that (as I understand it) pyrotechnics are often also on that system, but what is interesting about them is that pyrotechnics often take time to be effective, it's not as instant as lights, but delay in the time is known, so it would be started before the events it needs to align with so the moment they really pop is at the right time.

Great reaction. I finally saw this song live at the Roundhouse in London in 2023. I loved it since I heard it on Legend Metal Galaxy album how they are not bigger in Mainstream music Su can give many big performers in music a lesson in singing and stage presence Moa and MoMo can show many dancers how to do it with grace and style . while all 3 are humble, kind, and respectful .
