Painting With Krita in Blender 2.8 Eevee Engine
Переглядів 14 тис.5 років тому
Previously I did a tutorial for how to use Krita to paint in semi-real time to your Blender models; here it is, using a different process, to paint directly to your Blender models in 2.8, using the Eevee engine.
Turn-based RPG in Construct - Proof of Concept

Tutorial - Avengers Alliance Remake in Construct 2 - not MAAR
Переглядів 2975 років тому
So I'm increasingly skeptical of the MAAR project, Marvel Avengers Alliance Redux, being that... it's clear I should have been more skeptical of it from the beginning. Unfortunate, I'd hoped beyond hope. I'd love to eat my words, but I think it ain't happening people. But it got me thinking about how I'd recreate something similar in Construct 2, and so that's what lead to this video. This vid ...

Inkscape - Vector Tutorial - modelling real world objects
Переглядів 4638 років тому
Creating a vector of a plastic/glass electronic component, in this case an iPhone. Inkscape is the software used. VSDC is wonderful for screen capture - not just because it's free, it really is great. However, there's a voice syncing problem at the moment and it's pretty clear in this video, hopefully it will be corrected in time (there's an update I haven't downloaded yet, it might fix things.)

awesome!
perfect! fast and easy to follow, thank you
actually.. i would prefer it made in UE5.. the AI aspect removing the need for separate LOD"s from the base model is great, and reduces overall production needs. plus RTX support, which would make glitterboys the shit with reflections.. just don't get a lot of them together at once or your graphics card will hate you. then there is the SAMAS, which you could incorporate in 3d space, for air based attacks, among other things.. hell i want it for the magic castign and power armor alone, the biggest thing i see being a hindrance to development is crafting through techno wizardry.. that class alone would be a pain in the ass to incorporate, but also a necessity with PPE batteries for wizards/magic caster classes, or ISP batteries for Cyber Knights..
Unreal Engine has made some really exciting new advancements, and with Unity's recent military deal it's my preference now between the two engines.
Thank you so much! This was very helpful :)
shit ive been using krita for like 5 years now, and i never ever thought to use the eraser tool with the gradient. U dont event want to know how i did it :P i feel so stupid now xD
thank you
Imagine an Xcom style Rifts game based on Tomorrow Legion… would be so good
Thx for the tip
Hey, just seen this in 2021, how are you getting on with development? love the look of this game!
Hey, thank you - progress literally every day: new characters, music, background art, and I'd like to start a Kickstarter in the not too distant future.
Thanks Kyle, really helped me.
This looks pretty cool!
Thank you!
when using the pencil tool on "from dashboard mode" can you not set a defualt color? it cant be that the only way to chang eth ecolor is to do so after each individual shape is draw can it?
Looks very similar to Marvel Avengers Alliance, nice !
Thank you! MAA is definitely the primary inspiration behind it.
@@KyleMurphyArt Is there news concerning your project? I've been willing to play a similar game but I couldn't find anything similar excepted the Marvel Avengers Alliance Remake project but it's still unfinished
@@WW-1995 I'm itching to play their remake too - I hope to Kickstart my game and get it out within a year, there's still tons to do. I'm also hoping they get there's out soon!
@@KyleMurphyArt Kind of unsure about Kickstarter (it generally doesn't works out without having an already-existing community) but MAA still has a community willing to play a similar experience they had in the past so in that case it might works (and I hope it will, we lack of 2D strategy games)
@@WW-1995 True; even with Kickstarter though I've invested so much time and some money in this it's definitely coming out. I hope the word does spread in the MAA community, and too bad even within that community so few people know about MAAR.
What about normal maps ?
Sir i am making a game on construct 2,, we can collaborate, i need an artist,, i can show you the protoype, this has a potential to be a success one,, im not a full time dev, im just a hobbyist, just pm me
Hey sir, can i msg you on facebook? Cause im making a game in Construct,, and i need an artist,, i can show you my prototype, its really good
Plss reply if youre interested,,,
This game has a potential, i can show you
You can certainly message me with your game; but - I've got no FB. You can email me at kylemurphyartATgmail . com if you would like to connect that way. Or we can connect on Twitter.
@@KyleMurphyArt create facebook my friend, it will only take 1 minute to create, so we can communicate more faster

I need your help is what you can draw me a figure on The conductive and respiratory zones of the lungs I tried I do not arrive it is urgent thank you in advance
please make tutorial how to make gae like this
Hi there - one of my previous tutorials actually goes into a way to setup turn-based combat like this: ua-cam.com/video/ik6OpCbwk7Y/v-deo.html
good tutorial, I usually do my textures with GIMP, and within it, the clone plug makes a lot of work easier ... greetings from Spain friend
and also within the same blender, you can use that same original texture to paint the final texture on the mesh in the UV
Interesting - I haven't looked at trying it that way!
Nice tutorial, but this isn't painting directly onto the models, but rather onto the UV maps as you correctly said near the end
How to create bump maps and roughness maps?
Check out this guy's vid here: ua-cam.com/video/vtnJToPxBNo/v-deo.html
I think you can just press alt-r to reload the texture. This also works in the text editor; alt-r reloads the text.
Hey nice - I'll give it a try when I get home.
Fantastic tutorial. Very nice easy to understand instructions. I tried it and got it to work just fine. Big big help. Super video and thank you very much
Thanks very much - comments like this mean a lot.
Thx
No prob!
Thanks for the video. This really helped me out!
Awesome, happy to hear that!
It's a penguin with the hat
For anyone who tried this with 2.8 Eevee - the texture does not update itself. You have to go to UV Editing window \ Image \ Reload.
That's unfortunate, but good to know.
and humor in.......4....3......2...... I liked it, but I suspect it's wishing in one hand and crapping in the other TBO though, I always kind of considered Fallout a non magic Rifts game
Yeah, Fallout does seem to share similarities; hi-tech weapons that are a threat regardless of HP, post-apocalyptic, low tech towns, etc.
Thank you Kyle, this is a very useful tutorial. I was confused about moving my character to another layer using Instance Variables + Persist behavior. I'm not sure if it's a better way than just using Global Variables, less organized but probably more efficient... I still have lots to learn. You're explanation is very clear consider English isn't my native language, Keep up the good job!
Really glad you liked the tutorial! To be honest I haven't experimented with the Persist behaviour, I'll probably give it a try at some point. For now, I really like just having a list of Global Variables storing everything in one event sheet.
@@KyleMurphyArt Thanks for the kind reply, you rocks! I actually did try my prototype with Global Variables for now, much easier, but still for some other tasks such as Player Sprite that needs to move to other layout I should try the "Global Object" checkbox, I hope it will do the job. Sorry about my bad English, Keep up the good job! :)
What programs use?
Construct 2 and any image editing software.
can u share capx file?
Excellent tutorial. Keep up the good work !
Sweet! Two of my favorite open source software together, this is a perfect crossover episode lol One thing I wanted to request is an updated version of this video to test this duo in Blender 2.8 and its glorious EEVEE realtime engine and using a traditional PBR workflow to create different maps using Krita (normal, roughness, metalness, displacement) and wrapping them to a Principled BSDF shader on Blender. I could test this myself but as you were making videos and 2.8 is such a hot thing right there, it would be amazing to see how both modelling and texturing pipeline could be achieved with decent results on a completely free and open source workflow in a video and let more people know of the possibilities but also limitations of such an endeavor. Thank you!
I'm dying to dive into 2.8 but it's on the backburner for now; I really like your suggestion though, when I start in on 2.8 I'll definitely see how this works!
@@KyleMurphyArtI'm gonna subscribe to the channel waiting for this video lol
Wow, thank you for the video Kyle! I need to make something similar and I didn't have an idea how to start.
Thank you, I'm happy this can help!
I don´t get why Krita is better than Photoshop... I mean, in Photoshop you also can save PNG with layers, PS just show a message saying "The file will be bigger because the layers". Unless is another the reason and I don´t get it
No doubt some of it will come down to personal preferences and which version of Photoshop you have, but "out of the box" so to speak, Krita has better paint bucket "intuition" for flooding UV areas, it's free, has a nice easy gradient erase (I think in the video I mentioned I'm comparing to CS2), and... I'll just throw out there again that it's free. :) Part of what I'm working towards is minimizing expenses within a workflow.
Ohh, now I get it, and you´re right, I tried to jump to Krita from Photoshop, but is a big change... I mean, I need to learn from scratch, and that´s why this tutorials are great
It is difficult to see it if you pirate Photoshop
Also, despite you being able to create art in both, Krita is specialized in digital painting, while Photoshop was meant for photo editing.
@@nairazak_art You make me lose respect about your opinion in your preview messaje, I was asking with curiosity, not like you, "agressive/passive douchebag"... I was trying to understand how Krita works in this area and why is better... you're the kind of people the world need get rid off... kiddo
there is a helpful behaviour called "iso" for sorting in construct 2 forum..
Cool! Thank you :)
aku kek knotol
cool!
Thank you!
Great work Kyle!
Thanks very much Jakub!
Great tutorial! How would I make this go sideways? Like for lava?
Interesting question; I wouldn't do it as a strict particle effect. I'd combine a low res base sprite (low res because a blurry effect might help to convey the haze of heat) of a stream of lava. Apply a Sine behaviour to the lava to have it pulse/recede/grow; then create 2 particle systems of small white particles, one for the top edge of the lava and one for the bottom, a high generation rate, low speed, and then an x-axis spread spanning the length of the lava. Top edge particle system would have a negative gravity applied to it to have the sparks float upwards, lower one would use a standard gravity. Just thinking it through, haven't tried it, but I should sometimes. Thanks for the question!
Wow, thank for the detailed explanation! Will try it out. I used your effect with a fire sprite and it looked like a lava flow....got me thinking. Thanks!
I think this may qualify as a visual novel, specifically a kinetic novel since the viewer does not make any choices.
Yep, not a game but meant as more of an animated short. Just being ironic. :) With a couple tweaks though it's a playable mini-game; I'll be putting how to do that in a future tutorial.
amazzing?? if I may ask Templates, thanks
looking great
Thank you.
If you used the first method and combined the square and the ellipse would that be just as effective? Would you lose the gradient?
Hey, thank you for getting me to try that out - I haven't messed around with Path-Union before but that's another way this would work. :)
Nice! I wasn't aware of the multi-node gradient capability. Thanks!
No problem, happy that was useful.
thanks
You're welcome.
Thanks for the tutorial hope to see more
Thanks very much, more are definitely on the way.
I love the Bezier tool, myself. My approach is to do single clicks along whatever path I want to take and use the node edit tool to get the precise shape I'm looking for. Using it to carve out space is a nice trick, though; that'll save me some time. The pencil abstract art trick is pretty neat, too. Thanks! I'm subscribing. My request for a tutorial would be doing highlights and shading in Inkscape. I'd love to be able to try my hand at something like the armors that you've done.
Thanks - I've got a tutorial in the pipeline on highlights and shading, I just need to actually sit down and make it. :) Your point about the node edit tool is great - definitely (I'm trying not to say "get a handle" but...) getting a handle on nodes provides lots of control. Pun recognized but unintended. Thanks for subscribing!
Thanks very much, I appreciate it, happy things seem to have come together okay for the video.
