If Gideons don’t accept donations for their work, what happened to all that money I donated to them when they came to my congregation to solicit funds?

Several generations in my family grew up in UMC. They don't understand the gospel but have solely focused on works. The fruit has been bad a long time. Also said family members were part of fraternal oath keeping groups (UMC apparently has long been a haven for them) that are un christian. I didn't grow up UMC for reasons I can only thank God for. He placed others in my life to get me the gospel but that makes me an alien in the family.

satan sure has put forth his confusion...twisting Holy Scripture through translation with specific words, like umbrella terms for words like "church" and "baptism" etc...thats just two, of how many???. This is why you need to be born of the Holy Spirit, you need the Lord to get you though, not only this life, but by ways of His Word..."the Lamp unto our feet", like David said...I am grateful people took the time to "translate", but we are flawed and may have placed wrong meanings, as some Hebrew words (Aramaic), and some Greek words have different meanings than that in English. Like I said, satan twisted God's Word first, and just when we think we are doing the world of good, we may not have it right and why we need to ask the Author, and stop relying on ourselves to interpret, we are the sinners here, not God. This is why my heart aches for many, because they still do not search the Lord and ask Him, is this what this means? He will be direct with you regarding anything "confusing", I had to unlearn what I was taught early on with specific Scriptures...and why, in my born again self, I believe the Gospel hasn't gone forth properly...and Jesus hasn't returned as of yet, as per what He spoke in Matthew 24:14. Because if you see at the beginning of Matthew 24, the "temple building" was going to be rubble and come down, and now look how many "temples" there are today??? What is to His Covenant people, is a "light unto all nations", of what will happen to them as well. We have created so many denominational "buildings" and that is not what Matthew 16:18 even meant...Jesus meant us being built upon Him...not a brick and mortar structure. But who is listening? This changes everything...and ticks off the gentile versions of "Pharisees and sadducees"...because of the same issues...lack of the TRUTH...and Understanding of HIS WORD. It is forgivable...until people are persecuted for it.

The Methodist church has not been a real church for a long time. I am almost 80 yo and grew up in the Methodist church. It wasn't until my thirties that I discovered who Jesus really was and what he did for all of us. The Methodist Church I attended preached morality and not Jesus. I don't know if all the churches were like that but mine was.

So true. The Wesley brothers, john and charles, and susanna and his dad (whose name escapes me) were firm believers in the Bible. The term methodist ( not unlike Yankee) was first used as a term of derision because the ‘holy club’ had such a method of the primacy of the Bible! I too had seminary professors who didn’t believe the Bible and its value. Plato, Aristotle, Hume, any of those held much more weight in my ethics class! Using the Holy Bible as a backing for ethics was dismissed. The UMC is, I have said it before, committing religious harí kari. Christ should be Lord in our relationship. Paul writes: Ephesians 4:4-6: There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. And Peter writes: 1 Peter 3:15: But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

UMC chose death a long time ago. The Gideons do great work. Wesley wouldn't recognize UMC today.

So I just realize there are 2 words being used and translated in the captions and I'm not sure which is what you actually were using: inherency: in relation to the bible implying that it's is consistent in it's character, or that its essential components are essential, implying that the word of God together inspired and collected in the Bible exists as a work together (or something like that) inerrancy: in relation to the bible implying that in its teachings, there is no wrror or fault in them. A lot of people seem to focus on the 2nd one more than the first when arguing over proof of Inspiration. They also at times tend to misunderstand what inerrancy means by extension.

The Nazarenes broke away from the Methodist over 100 years ago because of their deviation from the biblical standard.

Purcell UMC closed by the denomination in 2018. It was done in a very mean and hateful manner! My wife and I were greatly disrespected by a Female member of the clergy.😢 We were both heartbroken 💔. Then we were not allowed to disaffiliate, and the church property was taken by the denomination and sold. We who supported our church financially, even taking out a loan on our home, were not allowed back on the church property till it was sold. I absolutely agree that these churches are APOSTATE 😮. I would LOVE to have a conversation with this nice gentleman.

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Sad this has happened, but this age of apostasy must happen for the son of perdition to appear. The Gideon organization is FANTASTIC. Not a single penny of the church offering to them pays for administration costs. 100% is used for buying BIBLES to give away in most of the world languages. May God’s blessings be on them. 🙏

The Woke United Methodist Church is reaping its just reward. C. S. Lewis in the 1940s warned that evil movements were attempting to "debunk" traditional Christian moral values.

The UMC is more concerned with pleasing man than with pleasing God. I grew up in the UMC, the faith taught is weak, and doesn't survive contact with the world.

They need to break relationships with: UPUSA; ECUSA, ELCA; disciples of Christ; United Church of Christ; Church of England (Not the Anglican communion which has excommunicated the church of England); and any of the many dozens upon dozens of other denominations that are apostate or are apostacizing.

The UMC is in full rebellion against God, and I say, "Thank you, Gideons, for taking a stand for what is right!" So much respect for these men. My very first Bible was a small New Testament that I received from the Gideons. They passed them out at school, and I think I was in the fifth grade.

I quit the church years ago when women came pastors, I was raised in the church but it left me. Praying that the churches REPENT and go back to the TRUTH OF SCRIPTURES. we are living in the End Times.

God will not bless any church that celebrates, embraces and employ things that HE has called an abomination!

I was a Gideon for a number of years. This was a great group of men who ONLY cared about the Bible. We never had a meeting that included theological issues. This was a group who ALL believed in the Bible. Good for the Gideons. 100% of the $ that was collected on the Sundays were used to buy and give out Bibles! 100%. ALL administrative costs were carried by us members. But, we had one thing in common. THE HOLY WORD OF GOD. Sadly, the UMC has decided that the Bible is a supermarket of choices. Even to the point that a friend, fully ordained UMC pastor said that there were many ways to heaven and that JESUS was just one way, and another friend ; fully ordained; told me that he didn’t believe in anything in the Bible except for the Gospels and that he rejected Paul (I presume therefore Peter and John too) PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR MAINLINE CHURCHES. We were told that this would happen 😢

I cannot blame the Gideons for it. I've been wondering if I could even possibly join them in the future...

People left the UMC over there right to own slaves . Today people leave the UMC so they can have more than one wife . 🤔

I find it interesting that many Christians struggle with these events. These are hyperbolic, not historical. Similarly the resurrection is not historical.

Leaders are fallible humans too and too much expectation have been set on them, especially people look up to them like some kind of celebrity. The most important question we ask is whether there is even discipleship at the leadership level. If not, this kind of problem will keep occurring. Too many church leaders are more interested in "running" their churches like some business organizations, with activities which do not bring souls closer to the Lord or busy writing books or given expensive watches on birthdays or giving fantastic Sunday speeches but not in touch with life and challenges of everyday life of normal people. (You need to give 10% to the church. But I can't pay my rent next month. Oh, you need to trust God to provide for you. Now, 10% please.) Even Paul had given a warning about this. (1 Cor 9:27) Who are tending to the flocks? On another note, charities are good, activities are good, music ministry is good, children ministry is good but these are not important. The church is not a social Christian club. Our mission is to save souls through the Word of God, become closer to the Lord ourselves and ... ... bringing up godly children is not the job of the church but their parents.

Actually, sordid details do need to be known, investigated, And determine if any crimes were committed. As Christian federal law enforcement officers, we to have a standard to uphold the law. As an agency, we have many many questions. Particularly in light of human trafficking.
