Is it very complicated to bleed the system? 3.7l v6
No basically lift the car from the front and leave it running for 30 min with the radiator cap off and a bleeder funnel connected (heat on blast). That’s a little overkill as well since we don’t really get much air in the system by changing the hose connector. Now if we were to change the top and bottom radiator hoses, then a careful air bleed would be needed.
@ thank you, I appreciate it!

Awesome video. Still trying to decide whether or not to tackle this myself. I dont really have a good place to work on the car so its probably going to end up with a shop doing it
Definitely need some space to perform the job since it can take 3-5 hours if it's your first time taking it slow.

I have a 2013 g 37 can I replace just the gasket or do I have to buy a new valve cover ?
You don't need a new valve cover since the G37 has replaceable spark plug gaskets. This is the gasket set you would need, you should still confirm fitment using the amazon fit guide: amzn.to/4iN46IB
But it fails
What do you mean fails?

Hey, saw ur post on the G37 Sub, awesome video and It helped me install my own hardwire kit. I had one sitting at home for around 2 months and i finally decided to stop being lazy and hardwire it lol. Anyways, my question is, should the radar detector stay on even when the car is off? I turned the car off but for some reason the detector was still lit up. I have a g37 coupe and followed the same holes you put the pins in. Once again thanks for the video!
Hey glad it was helpful and it motivated you to install it. My radar detector turns off when the car is off. Since you’re a is a different model and year, I think you need to test other cables in the connector, you might be hooked up to the garage door opener which probably stays on after shut off. Try to insert the pin into another cable.
Yoo what size are the filters?
I'll measure it later today and let you know.
@ yes please and thank u so much bro
hahah i think i blew my passenger side one... luckily i was like a minute away from my home... something started smoking at the light and when i pulled in my house i saw a big coolant leak... looked like it was coming from where the battery was and a bit of research seems like its the heater hose connector... currently at 112k 2012 g37. Great video/guide btw. Just ordered those parts on amazon!
Unfortunately it can happen at any random time, especially once you're in the 100k mile range. Lucky you were close to home! Good luck with the install, it's pretty straight forward.
@DIYGarageNation just checked now that I have sunlight and yea the connector disintegrated right down the middle lool.. yea super lucky it happened at the end of my 50 mi round trip...
@@KpxRagDoll Same, mine split down the middle and broker to pieces when I pulled it out. Metal is the way to go.
Just use acetone & in 5 minutes you're through and it lasts a minimum of 5 years.. .
I don’t recommend using acetone to restore your headlights. Acetone can remove some oxidation and haze, but it provides zero UV protection, leaving the headlight lens exposed to further damage from the sun. Also, using too much acetone or applying it incorrectly can damage the headlight lens.
I have C496 2k hs clear. I'm from Australia
How did they look after spraying?
So before I did it I obviously had rough engine noise (thinking it’s exhaust manifold) but I swapped the gasket out put everything back and noticed coolant leak and fuel leak and retightened everything down and looked good, but then in the car noticed loud vibrations as if it’s jerking / hesitating but have no loss of acceleration or performance. I do a crack / hole in the left side air intake but it seemed like I wasn’t having the jerking feeling prior to swapping the gaskets. Any idea on what it could be from reinstalling it all? (Battery wasn’t disconnect) so I have a service engine soon code now. Any ideas help thank you
You probably switched the coil pack cable connectors. I did and had the exact same symptoms. Each cable has to go to the correct coil pack. I mixed up 2 cables on the driver side (easy to do).
Did you ever figure out what it was?
@@DIYGarageNationyeah bro so apparently the right side which is what I worked on, unplugged everything and did the valve cover on that side everything was up to pair and no sign of any issues putting back together….but on the left side where I had my GF’s sisters boyfriend do it….moving forward to that post I made, I had those idle shakes / misfires etc, I redone all the work and took off everything else mind you NONE of the hoses in the back of the plenum were secured right, same with the left side of the engine bay that was he working on….so on top of that removal of the valve cover I went to check his coil packs on the left side and one of them was covered in oil - hinting to bad valve cover gasket placement. So redid that side use gasket putty and resecured it and put everything back to place and no issues yet. Moving forward as of now, no misfire, no smell of oil but now there’s a small fuel leak from the fuel dampener in which he touched sooooo gotta order that part and that’s about what’s left to making it a healthy car lol
FYI to whoever reads this don’t let just anybody do your work idc if they been doing it for years or “know how-to” don’t trust them lol. I would’ve done it all myself and would’ve never had the fuel leak issue too begin with now😭
@@vepzzuhwow so you had to do the work twice! Well glad you figured it out. I did the gas damper last year as well, it started leaking randomly. Relatively easy swap.

Is this video did the car have zero coolant or does not alot of coolant come out from this hose? thanks
Also im referring to the hose on the passenger side where there is just a plastic straight connector holding 2 hoses near the evap/firewall
The car is full of coolant, at normal levels in this video. When you remove the connector (both passenger and driver side), you will lose a little bit of fluid. When you are finished, check the reservoir to make sure it is at the correct level. You can add fluid via the reservoir. This all needs to be done with the car cool for safety. If you want to be extra safe, after you finish, bleed the system of any air. There are plenty of videos on how to do this on UA-cam.
@@DIYGarageNation Thank you very much, but when replacing that connector how much coolant come out on a scale of 1-10? I just wanna know what to expect when i disconnect it, car has been cold for 3 days
@@DIYGarageNation Appreciate your quick response man thanks alot for posting this video, mine is leaking when i turn the heat on and been looking for this leak for about 2 weeks now lol!
Like a 2 (not much), place a microfiber towel under the hose when pulling the connector off and you'll be fine.
My bolts got stripped😭😭😭 even with the right tools
Aww man, gotta be careful with those screws on the side. Don't worry; you can remove them, but you need to take your time and be careful. This is the best video that shows multiple ways to remove a stripped bolt. Again, take your time, and let me know how it goes! ua-cam.com/video/jmvIsJwOVMo/v-deo.html
does it work well in europe?
Uniden has the R8 Europe version. I have not tested it so not sure how well it works there.
I have the R7 and love it
Another solid video, sir. Just straight to the point with everything! We specifically produce LEDs for auto. Can we invite you as a collaborator to do a review? We've emailed for an inquiry
The Uniden R8 is what I have also I love it, I sold my Escort Redline 360C to get it.
Agreed. The R8 has been great so far. I upgraded form the R7 and think the new features are worth it especially GATSO detection. I also really like the how the mute/dim button is up front now, much easier to access the way I have it mounted.
I went with the R8 too. I really wanted the Redline 360 but changed my mind since Escort can't seem to get their act together.
@4x4gear33 And you are so right with that, Escorts seem to have theirs head in the sand.
after 6 months, damaged permanent from 2k clearcoat ?
2k clear coat lasts for years. It’s been well over a year and the headlights still look clear as the day we restored them in the video.
Awesome video.
Thanks!
How did you torque down that one bolt in the back? Where you needed the joint socket? Did you just use the joint socket with the torque wrench?
Yes, joint socket with extension + torque wrench.
Great technique and video. I’ve seen some recommend no more than 1000 grit. I saw you used just a step up at 1500. Does the 1500 give you better results? I didn’t see the 1 year update just yet. How are they holding up?
I think stopping at 1000 would not be bad. However you see the results I got going to 1500. I’m working on a new video for the update, I’m going to be restoring super worn headlights no a Honda Civic and will post the update in that video. The Infiniti headlights still look just as if I restored them yesterday. Holding up very well, zero yellowing, zero wear showing.
UNIDEN R8 Radar Detector 👉 amzn.to/3CFBwbj Power Tap Kit 👉 amzn.to/4fwe7aV Rear View Mirror Mount 👉 amzn.to/3W0oLyZ
These detectors are not your father's detectors. They are much more complex and take time to learn the hundreds of settings. Yes, you can just leave the default settings, but depending on where you live and how you drive, the detector may drive you nuts. I have an R7 mounted next to the rear view, but wired it to the mini fuse box under the dash. I just followed the A pillar and weather stripping all the way down, so the cord it completely out of sight. That's another way you can wire it up. Also, the video says big differences between the 7 and 8, but does not sight those differences.
You're absolutely right that radar detectors have become incredibly sophisticated. Fine-tuning settings based on local conditions is important. The A-pillar wiring route is a good idea. However, if your vehicle has side curtain airbags, it's important to avoid running the cables over the airbag deployment path. I ran my dashcam power cable like this: from the mirror, under the headliner, down the A-pillar, and THEN across the dash at the base of the A-pillar trim. Crossing the cables over the top section of the A-pillar could interfere with airbag deployment. (The dashcam install video is on my channel where I show how I ran cables using this route) Regarding the R7 vs. R8 comparison, the 3 points I made at the beginning of the video are what I meant. The GATSO detection is the biggest difference. Besides that, R8 has a bit better range and the Auto-highway/city mode convenience. I'll likely edit the title to "key" differences since that's probably more accurate. Thanks for your feedback! It's helpful.
Do you have a video on how to get rid of orange peel or a brief breakdown? I sprayed too far away
Orange peel usually means the coats were too heavy. All 3 coats should be very light. You can fix it though. You'll need to sand down the headlights again, I would just do 800 until all the bumps/orange peel comes off. Clean the headlights really well before respraying. Water only with a clean or new microfiber towel, then alcohol wipe down with clean towel, once dry, use a tac cloth to remove any remaining debris. Then you can respray once or twice, again, light coats. Let it dry around 15 min between coats and check to see how it's coming along. If it's clear after the 1st re-spray then you can stop there, otherwise do a second coat and that should be enough. Take your time, cleaning thoroughly, letting it dry, and light coats will get you the results you want.
@DIYGarageNation understood thank you. If the headlight has a ceramic graphene coating on top, the 2k clear coat wouldn't bond properly to the headlight would it? Just curious
That’s dash cam is from the crish fix video
Same brand but I believe it’s a different model. I’ve had this one for about 9 months and haven’t had any issues.
I worry about the FL sun/ heat frying the unit. Direct sun while driving in the summer afternoon is hot enough for me, much more for electronics. A parked car, in the sun for hours could get up to 140 degrees. Please advise .
@@debb6054 Good question. The camera stand is magnetic, so the camera can be removed very easily and reinstalled just as easily, as shown at 3:44. If you're going to be parked in the sun all day, you can simply remove the camera and store it in the glovebox; it would take no longer than 10 seconds to store it.
Do u have to replace the transmission filter
No, from what I understand it’s supposed to last for the life of the car. I’ve never changed it and never had any issues. Around 165k miles now and shifting very smoothly.
Can you do this on m35?
Depends on the year, what year is yours?

Will 1k do any good Only because i have a can ?
Honestly 2k clear is much better. 1K is less durable, yellows over time and has lower gloss and clarity. I would just order the 2k clear so you only have to do the job once.
make sure its dry, and then you go and wet sand it hahaha clown
Drying the headlight and surrounding area is important, so the tape adheres to the car. This helps avoid scratching the paint around the headlight when wet sanding.
So in this method I just sand and then apply clearcoat? No more polish and compund? Would it be alright if I apply compund before the 2k clearcoat?
Correct, do not use polish or compound as it will be hard to remove before spraying the clear coat. If any polish or compound residue is left behind under the clearcoat, it will likely peel. Just sand, rinse off any soap really well, dry completely, then you can spray the 2k clear.
I think you can use a prep spray to remove the oils from the polish for the clear coat to bond. The ceramic guys do that process even tho this is different
@@brandonnguyen1486 Yes, alcohol works though and most people have it in their household.

Sanding to 1500 grit, etc will result in the clear peeling later. Should only prep (wet sand) the substrate from 400 to 600 grit or at the very highest 800 grit prior to applying the clear coat finish.

Mine only has the passanger side. Did all G37 come with two?
Some come with 2 depending on the engine model. The passenger is the one that generally fails first so I would change it as soon as possible. Let us know how it goes!
You can literally just sand it with 600 and then clean then clear coat it no need for the multiple steps and sandpaper
While I'm sure 600 grit works to an extent, using finer grits like 1200 + 1500 will give you a much better finish. It'll make the clear coat adhere better, look clearer, and last longer. It's a bit more work, but it's worth it for a more professional looking finish.
Easier than what I thought...preciate that
Glad it helped!
