Formula E - GEN 3 vs GEN 2 vs GEN 1 | Side by side comparison
Переглядів 2,6 тис.11 місяців тому
Do keep in mind that the Gen 3 was driven by rookie driver Robert Schwartzman, and the Gen 3's Hankook tires are notoriously low grip. I think the Gen 3 set a pretty decent lap despite these factors.

Ranking Every Formula E Gen 2 Livery From Worst To Best
For such a well documented iceberg video on Formula E, it's hard to believe that he has less than 1000 subscribers on this channel by the time of watching this.
Thank you! I will say though, I have definitely improved my videomaking skills since this one haha
Bird's logo is really cool. But would it be even cooler if the part with a different colour (light blue here) was interchangeable in relation to the team he drives for? Like if that part were orange now due to McLaren. I think that would add some flair and flexibility.
I absolutely agree, I think having logo flexibility is really important
Hey, you're back uploading! Been a while! What do you think of the season so far? Misano was nuts, for instance! As for the logos, I like Bird's, Evans' and Vandoorne's especially. Mortara's is erm... interesting.
It's been quite a season for sure, slow start but the last few races have been really good! Can't wait to see how they do at Shanghai
@@SB10. Yeah that should be good. Hopefully Bird's back behind the wheel, though Barnard did a great job in Berlin! I don't know about you, but personally, I love these peloton races! I just don't necessarily want them to happen every race, we need some calm now and then. I don't know if I'd enjoy driving in them, though I honestly like to think I would. But at the same time, it's probably quite frustrating at times. The main reason I love these races is that they emphasise the strategies of positioning, judging where and when to go in the pack. It's the same reason why I've grown to appreciate pack racing more in IndyCar and NASCAR over the years, even though I loathe the big crashes and how sketchy the packs can get on the big and fast ovals going at 220mph. Done well it's awesome to watch. On a permanent circuit, as in FE at Portland and now Misano, or some street circuits that allow for it (São Paulo and Berlin Tempelhof), it's trickier due to all the corners and the lack of spotters (we don't typically use them in European racing). It's the same reason why I love the run-ins to a bunch sprint in a road cycling race as the leadout trains form and try to marshall their main sprinter towards the front.
I belive Mitch's logo is a Maori sticking his toungue out; I may be wrong but I believe it's an display of intimidation in the Maori culture
That very well may be it!
For those who dont know. Sette in english means 7, so thats why Sette camara is a 7
Oh my god that's such a good find!
when i first look to Pascal's Logo, i though i something dark, am i the only ?
Ironically, I think Hughes' logo looks more like two birds than Bird's
Buemi's logo reminds me of equal parts Sauber and Super Aguri for some reason
buemis logo looks like the old complexity gaming logo and the ascari race resort logo
I think Ascari was the one i was remembering in the video!
I don't have a specific explanation behind Mitch's logo but he always uses Maori designs and inspiration for his helmets so I think there's definitely an element of that in there. my personal favourites are Mitch and Nyck's logos!
I had an opposite reaction to Buemi's logo. It looks very F1, or like a track logo, and that 2000's and Forza feel is nostalgic and very appealing to me. It has this professionalism that speaks to me. My favorite is Vandoorne's. Mortara's logo meanwhile doesn't appeal to me at all. Otherwise I generally agree.
Ayy thats what it's all about, everyone having their own opinion. Definitely see where you're coming from
The heart in Nyck's flag symbolizes a water lily pad which comes from the flag of Friesland, the Dutch province where he's from (which is a unique province as it has its own distinct language)
Thank you so much for the insight, I was wondering if the heart had something to do with that. Makes much more sense now!
I love these video about obscure topic I have interest on. Keep on the good work second vid I have seen from you Fun fact? Nyck de Vries logo, the colors and heart are actually a reference to the Friesland flag (the provinces he's from).
Thank you, really appreciate it! Also good insight on Nyck's logo, I figured it was something like that!
Good video! Enjoyed it. I think I like nycks the best, but wish it was shaped more like a wheel.
Thanks! I quite liked Nyck's too
buemi andd vergne just made their logo's 15 years ago and never looked back hahaha
They really did!
The goat is back 🐐
For now at least haha

this is wired, GEN3 that gen 2 is normaly a lot faster.
That is true, but the Gen 3 had several disadvantages in this video. First of all it was driven by a rookie in his very first FE run. In addition, it was a test so the teams weren't going all out looking for laptimes, while in the Gen 2 it was a qualifying lap looking to maximize pace. Gen 3 is actually quite a bit faster, but this was the only full lap around Berlin I could find.
I love formula e, even more than f1 and one of the biggest reasons is the sound the cars go nyooooom and it sounds literally like a sci fi movie
When the entire image appeared, i immediately looked at the bottom of the iceberg and also immediately saw the word "cocaine". Needless to say that i was interested in the entire iceberg even more after that.
Not going to lie I liked the Gen 2 more. The car looked much futuristic and cooler.
Don't tell anyone but I agree!
31:37 Calafat??? Holy shit this track barely exists on the Internet (Apart from that horror accident in 1995). Nevermind formula e testing...
Yes! Formula E has actually tested there quite a few times. Porsche tested there for one of the very first times, the gen 3 was tested there, and I think Theo Pourchaire even crashed the Gen 3 there
How do you manage to make this without mentioning the fact that Takuma Aoki was in Moto GP prior to his paralysis. He was one of Honda's works rider and was in 500cc up to them
Sorry, i'm not big on MotoGP, didn't know he was that significant before his injury. Apologies!
21:00 super cool to see another disabled driver compete in a racing series, a similar case is former indy car driver, now endurance driver Robert Wickens who is paralyzed from the waist down. He races with hand controls, and has a fully abled teammate Harry Gottsacker and they won the 2023 Michelin Pilot Challenge Drivers Championship.
Said disabled driver was from Moto GP
@@godwindracing6056 interesting
@@chiseledmedal2634 he was pretty popular in the 1990s, the middle of the Aoki brothers. He got paralysed testing a Honda NSR500 in 1997
They should have add sim racers to the vip cars
22:50 better than the other formula series themes, + lyrics. I don't think FIA would pull off a petter product for F1 or F2
I followed this series a bit in the first season but not much in the second (and missed out on the title battle as a result!). It caught my eye thanks to the Rahal team and Katherine Legge being in it and introduced me to the likes of Sérgio Jimenez, Caca Bueno and Simon Evans. And there were some surprisingly good races as well overall. Cool that you managed to get interviews with a couple of the drivers! I'm just not sure SUVs make good racing cars. They looked quite cumbersome when racing, understandably so, and the fact that they were electric probably made them even heavier.
Things you got right - Dennis gets 2 wins - Cassidy wins a London race - Lotterer retires - Porsche 4th in team's title - Driver (Frijns) misses multiple race due to injury - Daruvala is a 2024 rookie Shows FE was truly unpredictable last year, interested to see what you think of S10
I'll absolutely take it, that's more than I thought I got anyway! Thanks for looking back through it.. I bet it was a little painful
46:39 In my ideal world, it would use the Leaf RCs that Nismo love to post on Instagram
That would be sick honestly
very informative video, thank you! i loved that you got some responses from the drivers
Mad props for actually getting answers from the drivers! Keep it up, you deserve a lot more subs! Btw this championship format would be fire with Citroen Ami. Just sayin…
Absolutely agree! Thank you
I watched the series ever since the first season. These cars looked nice and the races were quite nice. I could not believe that Simon Evans defeated Sérgio Jimenez by just 1 point in the final season. I just hope this series will return. At least there is a LEGO set of this car.
Thanks for watching! Absolutely agree on some of those, and I really wish I picked up the LEGO set before it went out of sale
Watched all of it, start to finish. Seeing as how I only started following on season 7, watched the replays of 5-6, and THEN going back to 1-4, I just felt the cars were too slow at that point so I just watched reviews and highlights, I never got to watching the I-Pace series. This video filled that gap for me PERECTLY. Thanks for that! Hopefully it can make a return cause judging by this video alone, it looked pretty sweet. I don't see why they can't have both this and the ACE/G series as well. Only hurdle is financial, obviously. But in terms of fan engagement, I think it had great potential, judging from what the drivers themselves have said as well. [I'm basing this all just on this video, though. So I'm taking your word here 😁]
Thank you so much!
This channel deserves many more followers
Thank you!
Very very good work Mr sb10
Thank you!
Legge always got the short end of the stick in the series. She was a lot better than her results would indicate
Absolutely agree. Her performance in this series doesn't get talked about enough
Madlad actually released it before the new year. Have a great 2024!
Cut it very close! Have a happy new year!
As always, please forgive my awful pronunciation of words and names in this video.. especially of the word Jaguar
At least you didn't do the usual "jagwire" that Americans do
@@mazdaroadster-mx5 Tried my best! Might've slipped a few "Jagwaars" in there unfortunately
Apart from the obvious, I am A) astounded that Frijns only has two wins and B) very impressed at the inconsistency of Maxi Günther. Man can be a machine sometimes, but he can also flounder (S9 showed that perfectly)
Very nice video, you’ve earned yourself a new subscriber! It’s tricky to say who was better from my perspective, as whilst I believe S7 to have had a superior grid compared to S3, it was probably the most chaotic season in modern top-level motorsport (thank you group qualifying :/ ), meaning that it’s quite hard to say how good Dennis’s third place in the standings actually was. Rosenqvist had a more consistent streak of top performances with a weaker team, although he *did* make a number of errors. Dennis meanwhile performed when it mattered and nearly won the title, though with a heavily skewed weekend format. I’d give the edge to Rosenqvist, although both drivers’s campaigns receive an A grade from me.
Thank you so much! I do agree, while the competition was harder in season 7, Rosenqvist’s season seemed more neat and complete. Subbed back by the way! Your content is so underrated!
Ahh yes. Let’s protest about climate change by blocking electric cars. What smart people!
Thanks for this overview! I thought about compiling a set of fotos to determine what I want to go with for my Tamiya Formula E racer but this video has them all! Just great and thanks so much for your work putting this together. Now, if I could only decide between Jaguar, Porsche or Andretti. I like these asymetric graphics very much.
Thank you so much! I'm glad to be of help!
I disagree with the statement "Fanboost turns competition in FE into a popularity contest". Fanboost is a rather small energy boost, and can make the difference of one position, if that. It only makes a difference if two drivers are rather equally matched.
