Thank you Gil! 👏🏾👏🏾That's the reason why I hate Kobe fans. They act like Shaq didn't exist. Kobe was Shaq's Robin. You say that to a Kobe fan, there next line is, "so you saying Kobe got carried?". No, im saying Shaq was the best player on the team and the reason Kobe got his first 3 rings. Take it how you want after that 💪🏾

If Wemby stays healthy he will definitely be the best. Right now he's a better version of an early Yannis. Keep it up and he'll be better than Yannis.

Wemby having a jumper is less wear-and-tear to his knees in the long run. Y’all just want to see dunks and highlights but are not accounting the longevity of his career. Wemby’s body is not mature enough or strong enough YET to withstand camping out on the paint on both sides of the court for an 82-game season. He already does a lot on the paint on the defensive side of the court so I think the Spurs just want to minimize the risk for injury by making him more of a perimeter player on the offensive side of the court. He doesn’t have the Shaq or Dwight Howard body type or strength and tbh, he probably never will so I think the Spurs are being very smart with how they’re developing Wemby for now. One of his weaknesses are his 3-point shooting and midrange. Both those improved this season. If Wemby develops into a 3-level scorer in the future, he’d be so formidable. This take of “you’re a big man, stay on the paint” is just an impatient and short-sighted take. The Spurs are currently in their year 2 of rebuild with him and they still need a lot of quality pieces in order to seriously contend, so why not use this time to develop the skills of their superstar and their young core. That’s literally why they got CP3 and Barnes to mentor these young guys. Also, the game has changed and it has become more 3-pt shooting dominant. So I think Wemby developing his perimeter game this early on in his career is good for him. He started out rough with 24% 3P% in October, but has since then improved. He shot 37% in November and 38% in December and is currently shooting 36% so far this season. Ofc, his % might still go up and down as the season comes along but that’s better than losing his confidence to shoot because everyone is obsessed with turning him into a traditional center when he’s never been that even before he was drafted in the NBA.

Wemby is not Shaq or Dwight. He’s a 7’5 KD with a bit or dirk. Just cuz he’s tall don’t mean he’s as good as some of the most dominant bigs out there

They could be waiting for his body to thicken up. In fact im positive thats what they're doing. The way the Spurs are using him now isn't the way they''ll use him in 3-4 years.

I think the main terminology here is matchup vs rivalry. I think steph vs lebron was seen as face of the team rivalry, but the matchup in-game was steph vs kyrie and kd vs bron. Similar to how the 2001 finals was seen as shaq vs AI, but in reality shaq was clashing with Mutombo and kobe with AI

Are you people stupid? Shaq weighed an AVERAGE of 100 pounds more than Wemby throughout his career. THAT'S why he dominated the paint. He had the SIZE to do so. Length and height do not always transition to dominance at the basket.
