Your Last Chance to Buy a ZS200 New Slipped Away
I bought a g9 original in 2024. With the g9ii out, people are 'upgrading', the price on the original was at a price I couldn't resist. I couldn't justify paying the price of a g9ii. I doubt that g9ii is 3x the camera of the g9, at least for my purposes.
Plus, I like the top plate for checking settings without looking through the viewfinder.
The G9 is fine if you mostly shoot still photos. But the pulsing AF in video is something I don’t miss now that I’m using the G9II for these UA-cam vids.
@@ToddBannor I never shoot video. If I take a quick video, I use my smartphone. But, I am not into video and yet another program to learn. So, I'm happy with the original. If I were interested in video, I'd look into the GH series.
Snow is not early it was supposed to come over a month ago
@@Hobbiessimplified0 Not in the Chicago area. I can count on one hand the times in the last few decades it snowed in October. Most frequently, it happens in December.
Hi, Todd I bought a cheaper Godox flash a year ago to photograph a friend's Art show opening. It worked fine but it hasn't been used since. Mainly I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your book "Starved Rock State Park: Through the Seasons". I followed your link to Amazon and bought it for $5 AUD, I think you're under selling yourself! I also followed the link to Pixel where you keep an impressive body of your work, it was good to see. Cheers Tony
Thank you! When I did that book, I looked at what other eBooks were selling for, so I priced it in line with that. I received quite a few orders initially. Thanks again for your kind words.
They are really good flash units. I have one for primarily my Olympus body and 60mm macro lens.
Thanks for this Todd. I bought the Panasonic LX100 mark II recently. it replaced the Panasonic LX100. I looked at your photographs and I thought they looked beautiful and wonderful quality. Even though UA-cam reduces the resolution I think 8 can still see the differences between lenses and Cameras a lot of the time. I think I will not be able to tell any difference because of the resolution crunching of UA-cam?
Yes, UA-cam does mess up resolution. But think you still can notice things like rendering and contrast.
There are some people who will find tariffs to a good thing: people who are out of a job, and would have a job if they were hired to produce, in America, the products made elsewhere that are now kept out by tariffs. Making that work, of course, requires careful planning, which is unlikely to be a hallmark of the incoming Administration.
Here's the problem with your first sentence. There are a lot of things we buy that we don't produce and setting up domestic production costs a lot of money. No domestic business is going to do it mainly because of the cost, but also because they know the proposed tariffs are going to be an economic disaster and rescinded in a fairly short amount of time. So it's not going to happen.
Strange colors to grasp for me-middle eastern here, use to assosiate snow fall with green vegitation in europe or north america...nicely mad nature video❤
Beautiful! ❤
That was a wonderful video presentation. You laid out the facts perfectly. Thank you so much. 👍🏾
This is actually one of the biggest reasons I'm making moves to move to another country. I've had it with the USA'a nonsense.
Funny thing. I noticed a bunch of, “How to move to another country,” videos pop up in the days after the election. I’ll stay here and fight.
Products will be imported through another country, such as Mexico, Canada, or another friendly country. This process will undoubtedly result in a slight shipping price increase. As for camera equipment, many new and used items are already sold through Japan and Korea.
I'm sorry that's ridiculous. It doesn't matter because if it's manufactured in China, it'll get taxed no matter how it gets in. And, Japan and Korea will have tariffs and the price of used cameras will probably go up. Read the comment I pinned. The majority of economists agree the tariff plan will be a disaster.
I am truly afraid of what the future has for us. There are few people alive today that can tell the story or the great depression and the hardship the world went through.
I'm reminded of the scene from the movie "Jack Preacher" played by Tom Cruise. 5 bullies have him surrounded and just before the leader of the gang swings at him he says "Remember...you wanted this."
Todd Bannor -- I'm glad someone finally explained this in plain English for camera people. I'm sharing your episode at various video social media sites. Many thanks.
Thank you!
These Trump supporters are shouting themselves in the foot.
Great video. You hit the nail on the head! How can anyone dispute what you’re saying?
Thank you. But, this reminds me of something that was supposed to have happened during one of Adlai Stevenson's presidential campaigns against Dwight Eisenhower. After a speech someone said, "Great speech Adlai. Every thinking person will vote for you." Stevenson replied, "That's not enough, we need a majority."
What he actually does is difficult to know at this stage. It would not be unprecedented for him to impose tariffs, of course, but the extent might not be as much as he threatened, particularly since a number of neoliberal conservatives oppose such measures. This said, if comprehensive tariffs go into effect, and if prices consequently increase, then just maybe, some of his followers, just some, will begin to understand their mistake.
The majority of economists say tariffs are a bad idea as they raise prices and taxes on goods and inflation and unemployment. In Trump's previous term, he lowered corporate taxes from 35% to 21% causing a huge deficit.
It seems ironic to me that American politicians and society are so incensed about the overwhelming preponderance of Chinese products in the marketplace, when if you look back at what brought this to be so, you see clearly that corporations chose to "offshore" their manufacturing to take advantage of cheaper labor, thus, by lowering their costs, raising their profits. From what I can see, it began after Nixon "opened the door to China." The US government could have disallowed all this, perhaps, but didn't. So after all those decades, our chickens (it is chickens, isn't it?) have come home to roost.
It's also ironic because he gets his Bibles printed in China for $3 a pop and sells them to his marks for $60.
Somebody got rather testy about me deleting comments. So, and this is something I've had to explain to folks on the left as well as the right, freedom of speech is something the government can't abridge. Here in the States we have our First Amendment, which starts with, "Congress shall make no law…" Neither I nor UA-cam are Congress. I don't have time to debate unreachable people and I don't need to have their comments clogging up the comments section. I'm not the MAGA whisperer.
Really appreciate the straight talk. Gaming this out, you think the second hand market will also see an increase? Personally, I think it will.
That's a good point and I was thinking about this today. Sure, why wouldn't used dealers bump their prices up?
Thank you for your insistence on logical and rational, I value those attributes and they appear to have been lost recently.
There is a better history lesson about the effects of tariffs on the products we purchase. For the first 130 years of out nation the government depended on tariffs for revenue. But, tariffs were used to protect domestic industries. The downside was everytime the tariff was raised at the behest of industries, the American industries would raise their prices to just below the increased tariff rate. This put a strain on farmers who always had small profit margins. Increased tariffs led to the Nullification Crisis during the Jackson Administration, nearly causing a civil war, and the adoption of the graduated income tax that Americans hate today. You are correct that tariffs will cause prices to rise because tariff costs will be passed on to American consumers.
This is a good point and I know this, but going into the history would've made a video longer than I wanted. You're correct that up until the Civil War, tariffs were the only source of government revenue.
All this is obvious (and by the way, people didn't think the crash of 1929 was going to last. Read business mags from the era, and the Great Depression was considered a blip until about 1931). But camera users face an addtional dilemma. If your washing machine is starting to go, you replace it now. But with digital cameras, even if you beat the price increase, a newer and improved model is just around the corner.
True. But I would say that upgrading every time your model is refreshed isn't that necessary these days. Yes, I upgraded from the G9, to the G9II, but the G9 is still a very good camera. But yeah, if you're thinking of upgrading, it's probably a good idea to do it now.
We bought one today!
You're 100 percent correct, and we haven't even begun. People have no concept how serious things are likely to get.
I’m gonna laugh at all the stupid Trump supporters when all these prices of products go way up .
It'll be Obama's and/or Biden's, and/or Harris's fault. I'm buying myself a new Macbook. I don't really need it right now but I will in a year or so and this kind of accelerated my upgrade. This could make that value added tax in Europe seem trivial. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and just being pessimistic.
@@bradleyanderson247 You want to blame others but not the criminal Trump. That says everything about you.
Tariffs always end up hitting the consumer in the end and are counter productive economically. I live north of the border but these policy decisions seem to have a rebound effect on us here given our economies are so intertwined. Good advice is buying what you need now.
Buy what you need or want now. Make arrangements for economic turmoil and food issues. Leopards will eat faces.
New Lumix user here, this was helpful, there is so much to learn about what is engineered into these cameras! Peace
I agree, plus there are many other reasons driving inflation. Basically this would be pouring salt in the economic wound. I noticed much of the used market is no longer a bargain. Expect to pay list prices for old stuff soon. So we are trapped on both sides. Thanks for saying this.
For photo enthusiasts, the situation is actually worse than you have put out. The proposals have been for a 60% tariff on Chinese products, and 20% on JAPANESE products. We are cornered. Trying to scrape the funds together for my dream lens (Tamron 35-150 F2-2.8, Japanese company but manufactured in China) before the photo apocalypse hits. You birders out there lusting after some multi-100mm lenses also better act quickly. This may kill off the interchangeable-lens camera industry for good. (Google: will trump tariffs apply to Japanese products?) (Note: Both Google Gemini AI and Microsoft Copilot AI refuse to answer tariff questions on the grounds that they are political!)
Thank you for pointing that out. I was not aware of targeting Japan.
I use OM Systems (formerly Olympus), made in Vietnam 😜
Thank you…well said.
What a pity that you can't explain a few facts without being piled on (abused) by those unwilling to believe the evidence. Alternative facts are so much easier to deal with.🤐
All I can say is Thank you. It's hard to put that out there, and I applaud you for doing so. I'm a retired photographer/camera store owner and I'm glad I'm not in the business (photography) anymore other than for my personal enjoyment. I have a photo related UA-cam channel also and appreciate your content and your voice so much. Keep creating content brother.
I've enjoyed your channel for a while now. However, I'm a firm believer that one should leave certain things like politics out of what many of us would consider recreation. A time to just enjoy content and perhaps learn a thing or two which I have from you. Thank you. While you certainly have every right to share your political views, this is not why I have watched your videos. There are plenty of other non political channels to enjoy content. I wish you luck.
That's fine. It's important to understand that politics affects all aspects of modern life and especially affects business. For me and many others, this isn't just recreation, it's a business. I make money with my camera and in fact am having a really good month. So politics really affects business and the bottom line. I will continue to call things as I see them. You're welcome not to watch.
Another MAGA snowflake.
It's his channel, not yours. And its not for you to tell him what to say or do.
@@ToddBannorappreciate that there are folks like you that still have a spine. Thank You
I'm a firm believer your butt got hurt, and that you subsequently pulled those beliefs out of it.

It's a possibility. Even though there is no evidence they've done anything wrong.
@ people are paying huge amounts for pharmaceuticals. The majority are made in China. Trade wars always fail.
Todd... A tariff can be used as a bargaining chip... However, the sad issue is that for the past 40 years, the slow evolution was migration to labor rich environment and at the time cheap China. China planned different stages of its manufacturing evolution. There was an absolute focus on why they manufactured consumer goods. In the first stage, since they were well ahead of the planning curve to ensure their success in the addictive consumption of the American mentality China made sure that a consumer-based America had their Apple pie ingredient, baked in China. American companies ran over each other to engage in manufacturing in China. ( Side bar so did Japanese camera companies. The Chinese companies were able to design and manufacture flashes, lenses, etc with decent quality. However, their skill, and technology were “ shared” with a Chinese company. Along with this blind evolution to satisfy the American consumer and profits may I add their urge to have things China wisely sent their Young to American colleges a. These students were tuition were paid in full at America’s finest institutions. The vast majority of disciplines were pure and applied science courses of study. The Chinese students who graduated from MIT, HAVARD, UCLA, and SUNY back in 2004 are well on their working curve of twenty years ( As a photographer but in my other life my colleagues were well aware of what the CCP was trying to accomplish before 1/1/2000. The objective was taking shape ) Todd, look my friend when you have a nation that cries private property rights when you unwrap the web of who and what owns land near sensitive US Military bases, centers of R&D and there was NO federal kickback for the past four years ( ie North Carolina, Fort Liberty. The largest US military base in the continental USA ) we “ HAD “ issues. Todd, I have M43 / Olympus, Lumix, Nikon DSR, and Z DX and FX. I am not worried about potential tariffs for China. Nikon, Canon, Sony, and Panasonic will figure out how to avoid tariffs… ie build a plant in the USA. In conclusion, we are more than four decades into Rope a Dope of offshoring. I look forward to the long-overdue reality check. Remember the guy from Queens, NY stated it was not China that put us in the disadvantages of today, BUT it was our own people that did it! ( I hate writing comments on You Tube a real pain! )
A massive tariff isn't a bargaining chip, it's an FU. China isn't really a communist country. It's a fascist autocratic country that embraces private enterprise as long as the Communist Party holds ultimate power. That happened decades ago when the communists decided they didn't have a problem with private enterprise, as long as they held all political power.
Well said. Hopefully they will come to their senses & at worst apply small tariffs. Not he the crazy 200% he's been talking about. but even smaller ones,,,, Yipes!
Thanks Todd, I live in Australia and, hopefully, tariffs in the USA will not result in increased prices in Australia. 🤞
Yup. It will. You won't escape the repercussions of Trump Tariffs. As companies lose market share in the US, they will be passing along the results of income shortfalls to you. BUY good used from a trusted source.
I’ve already been pricing out my “to be purchased before Trump” list, going to see if any are on sale for black Friday…. But yeah, very dark times ahead. i think the 45-150mm lens is underrated.
Thanks, Todd I have the 14-140 Lumix lens, I also have some Olympus pro lenses which I think are so good. However, for everyday shooting, rather than port folio shooting, which is rare for me, you can't beat the lightness and convenience of the 14-140 lens. The quality, as you say, is more than adequate for most purposes, certainly for me. I also want to say how relatable I find your approach to photography. I follow other photographers and learn from them, but it's not easy to relate to those who are given Hasselblad cameras for free!
