Mr. Collins got some complaints from Americans because he is a Brit. Really? Phil was on tour and saw how stark the contrast was between Washington D.C. and the homeless on the streets. He said he was shocked and inspired to write this song. He has been quite successful, but also very active in supporting charities both In Britain, the US, and around the world.

Phil has the feels. I am surprised you have not delved into his HUGE catalog of work (also was with the rock band Genesis). He has deep R&B roots and is a world-class drummer. If you don't watch another of his videos you must find his Paris concert of 2004 when he does a live version of his mega hit 'In The Air Tonight'. (though generally he and Genesis stayed away from the 'Blues')

She wrote this song. What I like about the pics with the CD is it shows Grace Slick and Janis together when many thought they were rivals. The music scene wasn't like that, all the groups seemed to know they were a part of something special bigger than themselves. Both her and Grace did all kinds of drugs, Grace lived but Janis and Hendricks and too many others didn't. I Have no idea why and neither do they. I was there, did a lot of drugs and drinking before I slowed down but some of my buddies didn't make it to 50. Next week I'll turn 75 and like an elderly lady said "It's not my fault!" I was reflecting today that three times I nearly died by car accidents, both drunk and sober but for God's grace I didn't. The lesson is live every day of your life and don't judge others, and especially when times are hard, laugh and don't allow it so you treat others unfairly.

Elvis grew up in a Tupelo, Mississippi ghetto; Dad, Vern, was in jail for bad checks. He sang in church...Gospel was his first love...he sang "That's All Right, Mama" in 1954, when a teenager for his Mother's birthday, at Sun Records. He was a Spec 4 in the Army, got out in 2 years. Released "Heartbreak Hotel" in 1956 to a massive amount of controversy from religious groups because of his movements. He made a string of musical romance movies, that he didn't want to do. Finally got a decent script for "King Creole", his only b&w movie. He just wanted to make music. His singing career took a dip when his wife left him, and the Beatles arrived, his "Comeback Tour" helped immensely. When he sang "In the Ghetto", which his manager thought would kill his career, he fought to sing it, (it was written by Mac Davis) and here we are...as relevent, and often played, today as it was in 1969, when it was released. His backup singers were The Sweet Inspirations, which included Cissy Houston, mother of the great Whitney Houston. Thank you for your great reaction.
