Thoroughly impressed with this remarkable wing! The ability to control your glide so accurately and have such a wonderfully long flare is great fun! And that speed... love it!!! A big shout out to Ali Andrews of Crickhowell Paragliding for the privilege of flying this speedster.

With drizzle and lowering cloudbase I had to take off before reaching the summit but, thankfully, was able to drop into the quarries on the way down.

This line has been haunting me for a while... and I've been waiting what feels like an age for the right conditions. Well, this evening was a treat: light winds and beautiful skies made for the perfect intro on this line... with lots more potential for some epic flying in future!

A beautiful but windy summit so I had to hike halfway down to find a launch option. Very disappointed that my Insta360 inexplicably didn't work for this one as the fun of blasting along the hiking trail would have been great footage. Turbulent air in the valley made for a slip and slide landing too...!

This is my first attempt flying this line on the Mirage, after some fun flights here on the Flame. The take off was interesting, as I wasn't happy with the wing pressure, so I ran parallel to the ridge for a while until I was convinced all was as it should be! The gap in the ridge shows a lot of potential for an awesome lead-in to the river valley and the valley itself is great fun!!! Will defi...

With a thunderstorm warning from midday, I got an early start on a new line... turns out I wasn't early enough! Rough air and convection everywhere with my hands full on landing. Can't wait to try this again in smoother air...

What a day! I got to fly before and after work today! The air was a lot more bumpy than this morning so I had to give more margin on a new proximity line that I'd been hoping to follow. The Mirage handles the bumps really well though!

Pushing a different type of performance today - with the shallowest glide I can manage for proximity flying with the trimmers fully closed. It took 3 attempts to take-off - with near Pingu-results! Nice to whizz past my better half, have a few seconds trims fully open and land on the trail.

With a beautiful calm evening after work, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a bit more comfortable on the Swing Mirage RS2 13 with some more testing. I'd been eyeing out a new line on Pen Yr Ole Wen for a while and was happy to try it out. A few more refinements needed but well pleased that I got to experiment on landing with the trimmers open. Love the extra speed and extended flare...!

It definitely surges forward and down when you open the trims and the rear risers/riser bridge feels pleasantly responsive: I was surprised by the amount of pitch control that can be achieved with fairly small movements. • @ben-j
      @ben-j Рік тому

      @@geoffcorser3609 hey Geoff, I am by no means an expert on the subject... You can try to do spiral dives first, and get to know how to make yourself lose more or less altitude doing so. Once you're comfortable with that, wait for the moment you reach top speed at the end of a spiral, and put a bit of break and harness on the opposite side of the spiral. At the beginning of may look like a quick spiral dive, but as you get more and more comfortable, you will get the hang of it since it is very natural.

    • @geoffcorser3609

      I started in Sept 21 with the aim of increasing my amount of flying due to the wider windspeed window. I soon found that it was my preferred way of enjoying calm, non-thermic days and that on the windier days it also offers slope soaring... but only on laminar sites like small coastal dunes. It's simply not worth soaring in high winds if it's turbulent. I have made a very slow and progressive switch: starting with a really easy-to-fly 16 sqm Level Flame, trims fully closed, and soaring. I tested the trims, wingovers and flare until I was happy to start easing closer to the ground and riding with the trimmers open after take-off. This was all done on easy lines with a multitude of landing options before progressively getting more challenging. I'm now on a 13 sqm Swing Mirage RS 2 and doing the same work-up to get comfortable on it.... but still have a way to go before trying barrel rolls!

    • @geoffcorser3609
      @geoffcorser3609 2 роки тому

      Yup... size DOES matter! It's a 16 sqm wing whereas the insanely fast clips are normally between 9 - 6.5 sqm. I'm moving down to a 13sqm now but I still have a lot to learn before even beginning to contemplate anything smaller...

      Half a day... but be very careful about who you trust with your paragliding kit. The guys at the end of the beach seemed to know what they were doing - until I caught them ground handling my wing on bricks and other rough surfaces. I was furious! I strongly suggest chasing off any offers of local assistance and cleaning the kit yourself. It's simply not worth the damage they do to your wing.
