Thank you very much, I'm very happy that you enjoy my cactus collection and also the greenhouse. It sounds like you have a wonderful collection of cacti too. Thank you also for your excellent question. From your description it sounds like you need to reduce watering your cacti quite a lot. Only 1-2 times a month in the growing season and max 1 times monthly in the winter dormancy period is enough. That will reduce your problems with root rot. Thanks so much Clyde, really happy that you enjoyed the short update. Yep, I definitely reuse the bubble wrap! The set currently on the glasshouse is now in it's 5th winter of use, and is still looking good, hopefully for a few more years to come! I have the holes for the fastening clips (which are glued to outside of glasshouse) marked so that everything can be fixed in the same places, i.e. no new punctures of insulating bubble wrap sheets. Man, the winter storm and weather you have just gone through sounded like a nightmare, so glad that you and your plants are doing well, stay warm my friend! And yeah indeed, it's so sad to see what is going on in and around LA these past few days, what an incredible disaster for the people and nature there! @cactusjoe hi joe,here in North of italy we have now - 3 in the night and 5 during all rest of day,agaves are covered by light fabric, I checked yesterday, they seem to be all right.

The genus Oreocereus but also Espostoa should have a few interesting species for you then. @ ahh yeah it was stunning, yes I have got the Oreocereus Trolii, but of a funny story with that plant cause the first one I bought I discovered it was actually a mummified one I wouldn’t of known until I took it out of the pot to give it some better soil mix it’s only an inch and a half high oh I was heartbroken as it was a Christmas gift so went out to another garden centre spotted only one hairy cactus slightly bigger 3 inches and to my surprise it was a Trollii jumped up and down in excitement everyone looking 🤣🤣but got my replacement, I also have Espostoa lanata another Christmas present from my partner it has 4 columns in the pot, now the one I really want to get my hands on is the Cephalocereus Senilis but can’t find it, I spoke to a cactus collector/seller in the uk who spoke to there Dutch supplier who also can’t get hold of it they said the nearest plant is the Lanata or the Trollii but it’s not the same breed if that makes sense so yeah the search goes on for that hairy one, it’s fraustrating I saw someone on eBay selling the seeds for that cactus but when I read the feed back there charging folk and your not getting cactus seeds but something else that’s not cactus so yeah not good, cause Ive just recently got back in to cactus plants and started my collection all over again it’s hard to find private growers in this country well apart from Ziggy who I speak to everyday such an amazing gentleman he’s awesome 🥰😁🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵

Hi Annette! Thanks, so happy that you enjoyed the blooms! Indeed, if you are able to keep your cacti in cool/dry dormancy over these winter months, they will then in spring/summer really reward you with stronger growth & health, and also hopefully many more blooms too! I try not to water most of my succulent Euphorbias too, the only exceptions being those with lots of larger leaves. But i keep them a bit warmer than my cacti, at ca. 13C/58F. I do not water after repotting as long as the temperatures are below ca. 15C / 60F - so in fact I will wait until my first weak watering of my entire collection at the end of the dormancy period in mid Spring.

Most of mine do grow very well this way. Regarding your question on heating: indeed I heat my greenhouse separately with an electric heater for greenhouses (BioGreen).
