Durango&Silverton Cascade Canyon Winter Express Part 2, December 2023
I just ordered a New York Central model, which they said will be released in early 2025.
Looks like a really nice and affordable model
It is! I enjoy my set very much.
Super. Intermountain Railway Company is just down the street from me. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.
I was there you know!
Glad you came out!
I'm from New Jersey but honestly thinking about flying out to see Big Boy run.
You should totally do that! You get to see the West and Big Boy.
The bridge shot looked good. Thank for the bonus footage especially the GPS 😂
You're welcome
Just drove through Wyoming... windmills, trains, and a whole lotta nothing.
Wyoming is definitely lacking a lot of people, which is part of the charm. I was happy to get great weather with the scenery.
What was the speed of big boy? It looked like you were booking
It was running between 45 and 60 mph
Can it reach 80-99 mph
I'm tryin to catch this tomorrow
Awesome! Are you gonna do some filming?
What a beautiful machine and the freight cars were clean without artwork!
I really want to see Big Boy do a real freight between Cheyenne and Rawlins with some normal freight cars. The new PTC may allow this to happen.
@@Zmanmodelrailroads if the approval goes anything like it was for 3985 along time ago Ed might feel a little uneasy doing it, but he might consent. If it’s the only time it’ll be needed. but if it were Steve, he’d jump in right away
Nice video....glad you were able to video it for us.
More to come!
Wow, the sky is amazing in Wyoming! Great shot at the bridge!
Thanks Rudi. It was a gorgeous day indeed for railfanning.
RIP Smitty
LOL😂😂
I would like to replicate that boxcar
It's for Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen. He was number one!
Interesting… catch a train from Nor Cal to Wyoming
Haven't been there. I'd love to take trip Joe!
I LOVE those F-units! They're really something! 😁
Thanks for the comment! I really enjoy these units and the value is superb.
I really admire your "F-7" units. I'm a "hardcore" brass guy. I own an "F-7" A-B-A set, two "F-3" A-B-A sets and an "F-7" A-B set painted in the beautiful red and silver Warbonnet paint scheme. All models are from Overland Models lnc. The others mentioned earlier are unpainted. I have very discriminating taste , that's why I'm so into brass model collecting. I love brass models that accurately follow the prototypes. But, I have to admit, plastic models have greatly improved when it comes to looking realistic these last several years. They're more accurate than ever before. As much as I love brass, I can see myself buying plastic HO scale trains, someday. I truly like your models and your review is excellent!
I'm planning on expanding into brass later this year with a PRR G5s 4-6-0 and a PRR I1sa 2-10-0.
As always videos dont disappoint
Thanks so much!
Nicely done Z man ❤
Thanks Nova!
Nice video
Thanks!
Very nice! I'm looking to get one of these for a custom project, but I'm having a hard time being able to tell through pictures and videos...is the paint on the PRR units more of a black or an olive green? Thanks!
It is PRR Brunswick Green or Dark Green Locomotive Enamel. It's mostly black with a tinge of green. They didn't change locomotive colors when they went from steam to diesel.
Nice score
Thanks Nova!
We Go to One In Feb And One In Oct.we Do Get what we Are Looking for at Both Train shows.
I found some useful items, particularly the NCE Smart booster. Train shows are just good to go to.
Every train Show is Awsome No Matter Where Your From.or Where It’s At when my Wife want to Get Away we Want to go To a TrainShow and We Have 2 Shows To Goto.
I agree!
Zman, cool video. Seems like you got both updates from suppliers and scored a great haul of new stuff for TB.
The updates weren't all that informative but I did score some good stuff particularly the NCR Smart booster
Thank you for the video. I really wanted to go yesterday but my schedule wouldn’t cooperate
I had a similar issue with Sunday. But at least I made it.
Tinaburg will need a Buffalo Wild Wings, bowling alley, and a batting cage.
🤣🤣🤣
Call the bowling alley...alley katz
Nice
Thanks
Excellent video, while these were way before my time of modeling, this is a really cool set, wish more manufacturers would do things like this. I couldn’t help but notice your track, is it bachmann ez, if so, how has your experience been, I’ve been debating on keep using bachmann or go with other tracks? Thanks for sharing!
This layout is primarily done in Bachmann EX track. I did that because I may move, and it would be easier to break down if I do. I would use Bachmann if you are not experienced with electricity and I would use a combo of Atlas/Walthers if you are experienced with electricity. EZ track is hard to I ballast, and it's tough to make it look good compared to traditional track. If I didn't think I was moving, I would have done normal track.
the train is making somone late to their class
Sometimes it gets me good
Very well detailed and handsome New Haven rr Hudson type locomotive model, I really like the streamlined body casing along with the white stripe displayed on the paint scheme. It's a true shame that none of the New Haven rr i5 class Hudsons were preserved for public display as these were very attractive locomotives and only ten of these engines were built.
I agree. One should have been preserved. I got the model because I think it is the most tastefully done streamliner. I'm not a New Haven modeler, but I had to have this release . I am glad you enjoyed the video, particularly the history section.
What type of paint and thinner is the brick wash?
I use Testors thinner with either Tamiya flat white or Testors flat white. Do not try to mix with Humbell or Revell whites.
All acrylics and not oils it sounds like? @@Zmanmodelrailroads
Superb work and such* skill
What do you mean by suck skill?
9:30 thanks for clicking that pen, you were making me nervous
🤣🤣
I love it. I alwats loved trainsets
Thanks so much! I have a full review on this trainset that you can see.
Nice ABBA set!
Thanks!
Another great video
What did you like best Nova?
I think the most enjoyable part is the history of the F series
Well, in a few weeks, I will have some Athearn PRR F3s called F5s because they had a lot of upgrades the F7s had.
👍
Now you only need the other two sets!
I have 2 of 3 sets if you saw the unboxing portion of the video. I only need one more, but I will probably just stick with two.
I model the 1880s Narrow Gauge era, but I enjoyed this video and your discussion of LCL history. Great Video and Review! Thank you.
Oh neat! I would love to model that era of it had more support. I am trying to do a range between 1910-1960 with a city that looks a lot like something in the Northeast/Rustbelt while they were our heartland for manufacturing. Glad you enjoyed the history portion of the video.
@@Zmanmodelrailroads There is definitely a lot more available for that Era and later. And the History is a definite interest.
Great video and mikado is my favorite engine type
Glad you liked the video. I love the look of the L1s because it's the freight sister of the K4s.
Zman sounds like you scored a great deal on a set of good locos. Thanks for the detail on the specs. It did look funny when the b unit was running by itself.
The B unit with no crew to run it 🤣
check out my ABBA F7's (S scale) here: ua-cam.com/video/VvZgwZ2DixA/v-deo.html
your review videos are structured very well! keep it up!
I am glad you approve of the format. I am going to keep the same format for a while before I come up with something better.
awesome!
That is alot of cars....they look great. Another awesome video zman and with rock music...
I pick music that is generally time period correct. However, these cars rock therefore blues rock music 😆
Speaking of the New York Central Pacemaker cars, maybe Walthers could make a run of those?! Nice looking boxcars! Enjoy!!
Thanks for enjoying the video! Yeah, these cars are gonna be part of a major conist i will run. I also model NYC, and if they did "The Pacemaker," I'd buy two sets in a heartbeat and pray for my credit later 😆
I have the Bachmann Amtrak HO scale Siemens ALC-44 and it pulls like crap it will not pull Walthers or Kato superliner cars or a prototypical Amfleet or Horizon car our club has mountain grades around 2.5% and it is not perfectly flat either HEEEEEEEEELP lol
I'd say take it apart and find weights that can fit to try to get it to pull. I will have a Bachmann Spectrum K4s that I add weight to next month because of the same issue. Go see that episode in my playlist.
I think if you run three locos in rapid succession through the Accutrack II without giving it a chance to clear the second and third locos will give you the same speed reading and all three readings will be the same. The speedometer is still registering the speed of the first loco. You will be able to get a new reading when the speed, 12 smph in this case, disappears from the screen and the little green dot to the right begins to flash slowly again letting you know that it is ready for a new reading.
Thanks for the tip. I have those matched though
