There is a lot of min maxing you can do the armor for instance has way to low of defense most of the time so just replace it with something that protects you instead you will live way longer with a small decrease to damage, also the old ones army provides crazy armor so should not be forgotten. Basically all of this can be achieved with the help of hoink farms which are incredibly efficient.

The mothRon wings can be gotten pre golem and are the best pre golem (not including duke fishron) wings in the game and it’s not that rare of a drop, you can get it from mothron from lunar eclipse

I my progression old one's army takes place when every tier is on and i make sure to not skip the progression or just jump with the op gears like: Tier One: Only gear before skeletron/dungeon Tier Two: Only gear before plantera Tier three: Only gear Before Duke (he takes place after Golem in my progression)
