Doc G's Reloading
United States
Приєднався 30 вер 2012
As a physician involved in the shooting sports, I wanted to provide a resource for people who are getting started in both single stage and progressive reloading. I have played golf since I was eight years old and could have probably played in college on a scholarship--and yet I love and enjoy the shooting sports so much more!
In the videos I share which presses and equipment I've purchased and why, and also the optional accessories that I found helpful and those that weren't really worth the money. I am a USPSA Limited Division and NRA F(TR) Class rifle competitor. I also have the following NRA certifications as a Lifetime Member: CRSO, as well as Basic Pistol and CPL Instructor. I've been involved in the shooting sports for the last 30 years. I am in no way an expert, I am just presenting what I do and why I do it based on my experience and the advice I've been given by competitors that were what I would consider masters of reloading and shooting. Thanks for watching!

How’s the hydro dip holding up
Hey, thanks for watching and your question! It is holding up unbelievably well. I've shot the heck out of it, and haven't scratched it at all. I've been very impressed and happy with that purchase. As you may see from my videos I have the 16S in 5.56mm in multicam as well, and that has a 10" short barrel and that same coating has been equally impressive. No regrets on that selection of color! Let me know off any questions!
Thank you for the tips,Ive had one on order since March and have heard nothing.
Good video and informative. Was a bit lengthy. Cheers!
Thanks! Yeah, I try to keep them as short as I can, but sometimes they go longer than I want.
Yikes an extra $50 for the tax stamp?
Thanks for watching--but not $50.00, it was $250.00 total. $205.00 plus the $45.00 charge that Silencer shop adds to it for them to make a profit. They submit it electronically for you and make it very easy and worth the extra $$.
for the mounting hardware from t-1000 which mount pattern did you pick? i am picking up a Canik Rival S for competition and going to get a red hill like you! could you help me on the options for the holster and mount? if you got updated options
@@BrandonN-kf1td Thanks for watching! You won’t be disappointed with the Red Hill Tactical holsters! I love mine and just ordered another one last month that I still haven’t received yet for my Atlas Artemis because I added the left sided thumb rest where the slide release is. The hanger type I purchased is the “Bladetech/Boss/Springer” three hole type pattern. That works great. Let me know what other questions you have!
@@docgsreloading7985do you use the lynx belt? I’m thinking of buying the ratchet double belt system over the lynx as it seems complicated and would need a lot of inner belts

You've really gotten my attention with this video. I thought the Thumler Tumbler Ultravibe 18 was the top dog for brass tumbling. If you compare the speed of the cases moving in the two tumblers, do the cases move just as fast in the Berry's as it does in the Ultravibe 18?? I was concerned that the Berry's 500 would be weaker compared to the Ultravibe 18. Is that not true? Thanks for the video by the way. :)
Thanks for watching and you question! I have the Thumler's 57 lb. size and that thing is awesome and over 20 years old. I've never had a problem with it but only use it when I have thousands of 9mm cases (min. of 2,000 9mm), or other large numbers of different calibers to clean. Plus, it's over $760.00 cost and I lift it off my bench and pour the entire contents into a big rectangular bucket then scoop out the media and brass to pour into my Berry's media separator 3 times to complete the separation. I paid $550.00 for mine over 20 years ago. I purchased 3 of their 18 lb. size and after the 3rd one broke, I sent it back and went with the Berry's. The plate that supports the bowl cracked on each of the 3 I had to return. I also gave it a horrible review and contacted Thumler' directly via email and never heard back. The Berry's has been awesome! I've run everything from over 1,000 9mm cases to 30 of my 50 BMG cases (as well as 223 Rem, 338 Lapua Magnum, and 308 Win.) and it works wonderfully. I use the Lyman walnut media (I hate corn cob media) and DO NOT purchase the Dillon version of the walnut media--it is so dusty that even with a good amount of the Flitz Tumbler/Media Additive I always use (link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008PCU6F4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1), it was too dusty and made a mess. I squirt 2 quick 'circles' of the Flitz in the bowl and let it run for at least 5 minutes before I add my brass. If you have a lot of brass to add, do it in stages. I add about 500, then pack them down and put the lid on, then run it for 30 seconds, then add the rest the same way--you may have to do that several times to get the bowl filled with all the cases you intend to clean. If you don't do this, and try to run it with the lid off, it'll shoot media and cases all over your bench and make a huge mess. I've had 9mm brass that had a heavy patina on it, almost a black color, that came out looking almost like it came off the shelf as new. The Berry's moves the brass so vigorously, even when fully loaded, that it gives amazing results. It's also very quiet and it's nice that the bowl disconnects and that's all you have to pour into the media separator. I hope that helps!
@@docgsreloading7985 That's awesome. Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna get one and give it a go. I wet tumble right now, and I'm so done with that method.
Nice! I’m still debating on what to put on mine. I have esstac holder in 7 rounds and a magpul ms1 sling. Love the factory sights. Haven’t decided on what light yet. Anyone interested in slings, please look for reviews. The factory front plastic one is trash and doesn’t work on most QD slings. Rear QD in stock works on everything at this point.
amazing
Thanks for the confirmation, I’ve had lots of sticking issues with the cement mixer as well. Perhaps I’ll go this route as the Dillon unit is finicky at best.
Plus, this one is so quiet and out of my next 3,000 rounds loaded, only 2 were upside down.
I just received the MagLoad in the mail and installed it (super easy on the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol), I have no problems at all with sliding the Winchester Universal 12ga 2 3/4 shells through the MagLoad. But my dummy 12ga shells were more tough to slide through it. The two mounting screw holes are to give it a solid mount rather than just one mounting screw at one end (which could possibly swing or pivot) and just relying on velcro on the other end, but to each their own.
Thanks for watching and your comment! Yes, everyone has their own preference. Just a note that the single bolt that holds down the Matchsaverz with the velcro is so solid, that I've never had a problem with it moving. Also, if you do need to reposition it in the future, you can just loosen the bolt and rotate it up or down then reattach it to the velcro. You can't do that with the Magload. But again, the only real difference is personal preference.
Great video. I have been on the fence between the DAA PrimerVibe or the Dillon RF100. Sound is not as loud as I expected and I like the manual adjustment capabilities.
This is a good product but 80 bucks is crazy
Is the upper all metal?
@@mannyclaudiacortez7708 Thanks for watching and your question! Yes-the upper is all metal. Super sturdy and it helps with accuracy.
I see the largest problem is: it’s a cqb weapon - but - it has a massive sight over bore hold over. It’s probably the largest if any cqb weapon of its type. So, if you set the optic to aim parallel to the barrel - then - you have to remember that the bullet’s impact is about 6 inches lower than your aim. If you zero it at 25 yards - then the offset is 3 inches low at 12 yards and 6 inches high at 50 yards. What a crazy aiming solution for just dealing with a 0 to 50 yard distance. You have to mentally juggle the huge offset in your head whilst guessing the range of the target. Unfortunately, I’d think the best way to deal with this design flaw is to set the optic parallel so that in short, cqb working distances it always shoots low by 6 inches.
Great video. Where you get it from?
Why does my bolt hold release button seem so hard to push?
real world app ??? not sure any one will ever use this in a life and death ,,, but nice to know its a thing ,,,,,,,,,,, i gess ....................................
Any disassembly videos on it? I cant find any and mine broke from the bottom when it landed perfectly on the bottom and the cap popped off
Thanks for the video
Nice! What other atlas guns you have that you feel this is superior to?
Thanks for watching! I have the Atlas Nemesis in 40 cal to shoot Major Power Factor in USPSA Limited Division, the Hyperion in 9mm with iron sights, the Titan in 40 cal (as a backup to my Nemesis), and of course the Artemis as per this video. I've shot just about every competition handgun and for sure my Atlas guns are better than Staccato, CZ, and especially all the over-the-counter production guns (Sig, Smith & Wesson, Glock, etc.). Why I purchased my first Atlas gun (the Nemesis) was because I called Adam, who is basically the guy that makes everything run there, and he spent 3 hours on the phone with me on a Sunday to tell me about what I needed to have in my competition gun. He would always say "No matter which gun you end-up going with..." so he wasn't pushing their brand. Also, for $250.00 you can ship them your Atlas gun, and they'll do a full disassembly and deep clean and replace any worn parts (any broken stuff like a slide or frame is on you) and then send it back to you FedEx overnight. So that's a pretty good deal. Besides all that, it's the flattest shooting most consistent, comfortable, and accurate handgun in the world--it's a hand-crafted work of art. I know they're expensive, but they have a 6 month wait time, so you can pay it off over those months. It's like putting a gun on layaway. The Honest Outlaw on UA-cam agrees with me that they make the best guns in the world.
I believe that model with the wood furniture is called the nightstick.
A $400 flashlight and it uses a flathead screw?
Thanks for watching! Yes, it does use a flathead because you can use the rim of a 5.56 or 7.62 case to tighten it or loosen it. That's the way the slot is designed.
I bought an 18" Barrelled Hellion and mounted a 1-6x LPVO. The entire setup is just about 2" longer than my 10.5" barrelled AR-pistol, which is incredible. 18" range vs 10.5" in a much shorter package.
Thanks for watching! Yes, my Hellion purchase was one of the best I've ever made. Ridiculously accurate out to 600 yards!
Ben bu tüfeği almak istiyorum nereden ve nasıl satin alabilirim lütfen yardımcı olun ben Türkiye den yazıyorum çok teşekkür ederim
Why Do they only give you one spring? When you change from small too large primers do you have to swap the spring? I tried to order the spring and it was $3.50 but $23 to ship it. WTF???
WOW! I'm sorry to hear that. That's weird. Mine came with the spring and you do not have to swap it for large primers.
love your presentation, subbed!
Clamp and cover waste of money, add loctite to original screws...easy fix. Just for looks, that sro looks goofy, only my opinion, feel like it needs a P2 or mps
Where did you get the plate on the pistol? What’s it called to get that specific one on the pistol?
Thanks for watching and your question! Those plates are the ones that came with my Canik. So inside the gun box that you get with the gun, is the entire kit with all the plates you need for any optic on the market!
@@docgsreloading7985 welcome. I just got the TTI Combat and can’t fit my Burris Fastfire 3 on it. I’ve seen that people file some of theirs down. I guess that’s something I’ll have to do. Unless you know of a specific one that does my red dot.
@@lionelcortez3115 Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I have no experience, nor have I seen anyone with the TTI version of the Canik yet at a competition! So I can't help. Maybe someone can offer some comments.
What the name of those red holster I’m ambidextrous
Thanks for watching!! Those are Red Hill Tactical. The best holsters I've ever owned. Very stiff, fits the guns like a glove, and never scratches the gun or causes any problems with the finish. Fully adjustable tension.
Fantastic, thanks
In summary, use the 2 factory screws.
Awesome video! Will it work if the XL has a threaded barrel and small comp?? Thanks!
Thanks for watching and your question! This holster will NOT work with any type of barrel extension. I double checked and there is no room at all at the muzzle. I don't know if they have a holster for the exact same gun but with a threaded barrel/comp. For sure, this model won't work for that.
@@docgsreloading7985 thank you for your quick reply and thank so much for checking on this! I really appreciate it!
Beretta A300 is NOW shipping with a new tube just like your new one but plastic
a bond arms video that is well worth watching. i suggest to stick with handgun specific 410 rounds. remove the trigger guard. get other barrels to match your favorite handgun calibers to make your b.a. derringer a true backup.
What do you think of the Imperial XF-50 (Effen) billet uppers?
Thanks for watching! I have seen those, and they do look cool. It’s just that the SN is on the upper, so I don’t know how that must get transferred over the the new upper so you don’t get into trouble with BATFE. Also, I hate to be all nostalgic, but I really like how the PS90 looks stock-and by stock, I also mean the short barrel.
@@docgsreloading7985 ---The XF-50 uppers have to deliver to an FFL, so they must have their own SN on them. BTW, they have accessory shrouds to cover 16" barrels. I wonder why they don't have a provision to install a light and a LASER next to the barrel---It would not be a major design change.
@@elultimo102 Oh, that makes sense. Then the FFL must do the SN transfer from yours to the new one so they don't think it's a second gun. What I use is the Surefire X400 weapon light and laser combo. I just snaps on to the picatinny rail that I installed on the right and left side of the receiver. I can easily activate it with my left thumb. I'd look into that if you want. The nice thing is that I can snap it on and off without tools.
Wrong. Infinity is the best top of the line 2011 you can buy hands down. Don’t get confused brother.😂
WOW!! You're a comedian--and quite funny!!🤣😂🤣😂

What holster is that on this video?
Thanks for watching! That is the Red Hill Tactical holster. Those are the only brand of holster I use for any competition. They’re absolutely fantastic! Check out this video I posted about them: ua-cam.com/video/r-K7pzoj0qk/v-deo.htmlsi=AR72DIiHco-thl8w
Looks great but $23 for shipping to AZ? I don't think so.................
Thanks for watching! WOW! I'm sorry to hear that. On their website, it shows there a dealer in Glendale, AZ. I don't know if that's within driving distance for you. I got my stuff from a store in FL when they shipped it to me. Some items do come from Slovenia, and even then I got it within 3 days and it was cheap.
I’m going to take your recommendation and buy these rings instead of the Barrett rings for my m99
That's exactly what I would recommend! Those rings are so easy to install it's ridiculous. Plus, I have them on my Barrett 82A-1 in 50 BMG holding a dedicated Nightforce scope and have never had an issue with them loosening.
@@docgsreloading7985 do you know the difference between m10 rings and m-brace rings they have?
@@docgsreloading7985 I called and asked . It’s the same thing just new version and they are heavier according to ARC.
What rings are those?
Thanks for watching and your question! Those are Barrett scope rings and available through their online store. I’ve just about changed all my scope rings over to the American Rifle Company brand. Those are much nicer and easier to mount with absolutely no problem with the scope twisting when tightening the ring. The Barrett ones in this video are the usual design and more difficult to mount the scope in. Please see my video on the Schmidt-Bender scope review I did where I comment on the American Rifle Company’s rings. Thanks again and I hope this helps!
That bubble level you have on your scope . It’s that called the Flatline Ops ACCU/LEVEL Articulating Scope Level Matte? I might get that next for my Barrett.
@@clos4209 Thanks for watching! Yes, that is the one I have on that scope. I like that you can do a fine adjustment from the closed or open position to get the level perfect. Plus, it’s nice that you can use it it in either the open or closed position since it’s easily visible. I have that product on pretty much every scope I own.
Hi how did u mount the light onto the side?
Thanks for watching! The Surefire light comes with an M-Lok and Picatinny mount option. I used the M-Lok option and mounted it to the slot located on the front left side of the shotgun.
@@docgsreloading7985 thanks so much
How did you mount the light onto the gun?
What’s the model number for the limbsaver and any other info thanks
Thanks for watching! Check out the link in the video description. I got the Limbsaver through Amazon, since they had it in stock and got it to me the quickest.
Dude, get the HB Industries mini comp/thread protector. It's 100% the way to go. Also check out their low profile optic mount. Love my PS90. I just got the Huxwrx Flow 22ti and am hoping to compare it with my Dead Air Mask HD this weekend.
Thanks for watching and your suggestion! I checked out that HB Industries website and it has some really cool stuff! For suppressors, I had tried my AB Little Bird and their A10 (in 5.56) as well as my SilencerCo Switchback (has 4 configurations/lengths). I ended up just dedicating my SilencerCo Switchback and leaving it in my PS90 case. The A10 was overkill, the Little Bird was too long, and the Switchback in the medium length worked perfectly! I'm on my 14th suppressor already, and will probably order more in the future for sure!
May I know what kind of hand guard do you have? Thank you
Thanks for watching and your question! Here's the link: www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/si-bm4-hayl-rail It didn't come in FDE when I ordered mine--maybe I would have purchased that color.

Seeing yours convinces me to go ahead as planned!
Thanks for watching and that's great to hear!
Nice set up. I ordered an Athena in November 2023, and was quoted 8 to 9 months on the build. It is currently on step 4 of 10. I sent them a Holosun 509T to mount on it. I currently carry a Staccato P with a 509T mounted on it. Did you say the dot cover was from Gene's ? I want to see if they make one for the 509T.
You won't be disappointed! I love my Artemis. People have even said to me how flat they notice it shooting at events. Here's where to get your red dot cover: dreamplastics.com/ They have the greatest products for pretty much every sight--I even got them for m EoTech's that I have on my AR's. If your Atlas gun has the co-witness sights, then you'll have to cut a small notch in the back of the cover to get it to fit. Not a big deal. Oh yeah, they also quoted me 6 months and I got it in 5, so that's maybe what will happen with yours.
@@docgsreloading7985 Thanks, I also ordered the hard case like you did. Is it a Pelican or is there a brand name on it ?
@@joebishop7909 Yes, it's an SKB case (and it takes a lot for me to say this, since I have well over 20 Pelican cases--and other brands) that the SKB is MUCH better than the Pelican. The one from Atlas has very stiff and protective, custom cut, foam and great latches that must be unlocked from a bottom spring loaded lever (Pelican cases don't have that unless it's a much more expensive case). Plus, the Atlas SKB case has the 2 levels, so now I can take my gun safely to an event and I can have all the tools and all my mags in the same case and I don't have to remember a separate mag pouch. I bought 3 other SKB Atlas cases for my other 3 Atlas guns--it's just the best way to safely carry the gun. I'd even let TSA put it on a plane since I know it would be safe from any baggage handler!
