Doc G's Reloading
United States
Приєднався 30 вер 2012
As a physician involved in the shooting sports, I wanted to provide a resource for people who are getting started in both single stage and progressive reloading. I have played golf since I was eight years old and could have probably played in college on a scholarship--and yet I love and enjoy the shooting sports so much more!
In the videos I share which presses and equipment I've purchased and why, and also the optional accessories that I found helpful and those that weren't really worth the money. I am a USPSA Limited Division and NRA F(TR) Class rifle competitor. I also have the following NRA certifications as a Lifetime Member: CRSO, as well as Basic Pistol and CPL Instructor. I've been involved in the shooting sports for the last 30 years. I am in no way an expert, I am just presenting what I do and why I do it based on my experience and the advice I've been given by competitors that were what I would consider masters of reloading and shooting. Thanks for watching!

Thanks to all my viewers and supporters! In this video I review the PrimeVibe from Double Alpha Academy. The Primer Pro that I was using had about 5/1,000 upside down. This one has not had any problems. The Primer Pro also had to be kept meticulously clean or it wouldn't work well. This PrimeVibe does not have that problem! It's so fast as well! It usually takes about 2 minutes (maximum time) t...

Whoa. That's really great.
Good work. The top down shot of both holsters is great.
Thanks for watching! Yes, what I would recommend is that even if you don't use a gas pedal/thumb rest, get the RHT hoster as if your gun does have one--especially if you have huge hands like me. I like that it moves the gun further away form the belt, so I can get my hand in there quicker on the draw.
Not being American I can say that Dillon XL 750 is really crap and an extreme disappointment. It is not Dillon Precision but Dillon Approximation. Dillon's big problem is the manufacturing quality: poorly machined parts, crooked frames, Tools heads that are not aligned with the platform, shellplates that are too narrow etc. Read the forums, you will see that I am far from being the only one, problems are legion, but American users who are chauvinistic and proud of their brands will never be objective as I am. I fought two months with Dillon for alignment problems, with send videos, exchanging parts, not to mention the three weeks it takes to receive a part from the USA, finally having to send the entire press back to the factory to detect a faulty platform when they have been leading me on all this time, taking me for an idiot. On the way back it was better but alignment problem not resolved, and which never will be. In short, my patience having its limits, I sold this pile of scrap metal and it was a great relief. I'm going to go back to a good old Lee press, certainly less pretty and less pretentious, but much less expensive and above all, which works. Dillon: Never again.
Will it work in the MAC 1014?. What foregrip?
Doc if you like the nextbelt you will love kore. Its 2x's as good quality wise and way more styles.
Thanks! I'll check those out!
Is there a part 2 where you show clear on this weapon?! I’m just kidding I’ve waited my whole life to come across this situation and I had to say it!
why not shows us the 1,000 yard grouping with the same scope dude, love to see that? Also i have shot f class with 308 and also 5.56 at 1,000 yards and also 1,100 yards and i do not own a weapon or a gun licence and i only knew about the f class practice shoot, when i was invited to a practice, thinking it was hunting rifles and they were practicing etc, got there and was blown away with the accuracy, did shot the au slr or a1l1 308 at 400 meters when i was in the cadets at the age of 14 ,which was over 40 years ago, thats how long it has been that i shot a weapon at all, but my first day score was 38/50 for the 308 at 1,000 yards and then the 5.56 was 48/50 at 1,100 yards. So i think anyone can shoot accurately if the weapon is blue printed and balanced and trued up and your right you do not need a massive powerful scope for 1,000 yards in fact the more you zoom in the less detail of the target you see, in the middle is about the best and on hot days you can see the wind by the mirague which way its blowing and how fast, cheers 🦘🦘👌👌✌✌
On Night Force Competition the left knob works as a focus and a parallax adjustment. How is it possible to adjust both parallax and focus with one knob?
Thanks for watching and your question! So, the parallax is adjusted on the left knob, while the focus is adjustable on the eye piece. It has a ring that rotates either clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the focus.
Thank you.
The Eddy Merckx poster/picture on the wall is more interesting than this 50BMG!! 🤣😂

Can you do a video on how to swap that charging handle?
Hey, thanks for watching! Well, it would take all of 3 seconds of video--all you have to do is (regardless of the bolt position open or closed--I just did mine while in the closed position), pull the old one straight out from the side and push the new one in. There's a notch on the knob, and just make sure that faces the same direction as the one you pulled out. It's that easy!
@ wow you were not lying thanks for the response!
Is that a bullet counter you have attached? and what kind is that ?
Thanks for watching and your question! Yes, that's an optical counter from Armanov. I just checked their website and can't find it. You might want to email them and see if they still make it. I love mine, it also keeps a total cumulative count as well as a breakdown by caliber of what I've loaded. You do need to leave it on all the time, but that's not a big deal. Check out their website: www.armanov.com/ Also, Uniquetek makes one, but it's a magnetic plunger that requires you to modify your crimping die (if it's a Lee brand) and it has no where near the complexity of the Armanov. Here's the Uniquetek version: uniquetek.com/shop/ols/products/loaded-round-counter
I reached out to them , they have a new one coming in approx 6 months .
@@marku123 Very Cool, thanks for that info! I may get their new one if it has a battery back-up. What I really like about it is that as you go, it'll give you a "rounds per hour" reading and I can comfortably get to 1,600-1,700 per hour rate. Now that doesn't count when you have to stop to reload primers, etc, but it gives you an idea at least as to how fast you're going. Plus, the total overall rounds reloaded and the breakdown per caliber is nice.
Good video, thank you ! Could you post a link for the Nutech cap ? Thank you !
Thanks for watching and your question! Here's the link to the threaded nut: uniquetek.com/shop/ols/products/quick-release-case-cleaner-knob

Thanks for sharing your experience, how close this press to Mec. Looking to get mec for weekend reloading
Thanks for watching and your question! I'd say that for the price, you can't beat a MEC. I have their single stage press, and the press is so smooth, that I still use it just for seating rifle bullets because it gives me great feedback and I can feel the neck tension as the bullet seats. I can seat bullets up to 338 Lapua Magnum.
Just remember everyone, if you match the government in their fire arms and can stand head to head with them. They are very scared, they want complete control over everything you do and have. Any way they can slow you down, they will do it just to make it frustrating for anyone to stand head to head with them.
this product doesnt work well unless it is clamped down, i sold mine the day i bought it, it workeed but it needs more weight to take up the vibration, its def better then the dillon, but in all honestly u can use a hand held one and and load more primers faster then automated ones
Thanks for watching! Huh, well I clamped mine down because it's on the edge of the bench and right behind me, so I didn't want to bump it and watch it crash to the floor. I'll tell you though, it's worked perfectly and after going to a frequency of 97.4 it takes less than a minute to fill all 104 (I add an extra 4) into a tube. I've filled 5,000 primers and I've had 3 upside down. Plus, once 1 of the primers was dented (and needed to be discarded) and it got stuck trying to enter the top of the feeding system (that red piece of aluminum that guides the primers into the spring) so that saved me a huge headache, since that defective primer would have most likely gotten stuck in my press and/or for sure not seated in a case.
I have a question in regards to looping the cases before sizing. After the sizing operation is complete, you are not cleaning the oil or lube from the cases. After Reloading, you are putting those bullets with the lubed case into the chamber of your firearm. I can only imagine what bad things could happen with a slippery case upon firing.
Thanks for watching and great question! No, I do not leave the lube on. What I do is after loading 1,000 rounds, I put them on a large old beach towel and leveled to just 1 layer thick so they're not stacked on each other, and spray them with Invisible Glass glass cleaner. I let it sit for a couple of minutes, then put another smaller towel over them and rub them all clean. I repeat this several times, and since the Hornady spray lube is the best on the market, it comes off easily after it has done its job fantastically. Then I sit down and gauge them all 100 rounds at a time. And after shooting 20,000 rounds, I've never had a problem at all.

Why did that first case have that step in it? I've never heard of such a thing. Can you even resize it?
Thanks for watching and your question! Well, I've heard that it's from a 9mm shotshell type of projectile. Yes, it did resize, but the bullet I used (147gr. RNFP from Blue Bullets) would not seat in it. If I was using a lighter bullet, it may have fit.
@@docgsreloading7985 Very interesting, thanks for the reply!
I just got mine last weekend, so far I love it. This thing is rock solid.
Awesome! Yes, I've used mine a lot since I purchased it, and it has done nothing but get smoother and smoother to operate!
I was looking forward to you finding the velcro, I also expected it to be laid flat somewhere but mine still attached well:) I added both extensions and it's perfect now, super easy to adjust but important for folks to make sure they use the correct screw length. thanks for sharing video
Great! I'm glad I could help--that's why I do these videos!
Do all SCARs come with a gas regulator? How many positions does it have?
Thanks for watching and your question! Yes, for sure the 16S and the 17S have a 2 position gas piston. Looking at it from the front, 12:00 is unsuppressed and 10:00 is suppressed mode. It's just that simple. You can purchase different sized gas jets that you can substitute very easily. Parker Mountain Machine has the full size range so you can completely customize it. With today's suppressors and now with them being so flow-through, you really don't need to adjust anything. Mine has worked perfectly with a variety of suppressors from SureFire to Sig Sauer.
@@docgsreloading7985 thank you for that information
WCC doesn't want to take primers. It's not worth the time for me either.
Finally bought one recently after loving this since I first saw it like 15 years ago. Such a fun gun to shoot and oddly feels perfect in your hand despite the odd look
Man, I'm having a hard time installing the recoil pad. How'd you get yours on?
Thanks for watching! I just used the longer screws since I added a spacer. They just go through the back of the Limb Saver and then you need to push the screwdriver through the back of the butpad and screw it together until the screws are tight.
@@docgsreloading7985 copy that. Thank you kindly!
Two year old Vid, and I just bought my Vise from 419. Orange has them on Sale now for $1999.99, when I watched this video the first time they were $999.00, paid $1599.99 for mine😊
You must have bought the last one from Area 419 because they are out of stock now.
crazy, i want one so bad but $2k is crazy
I’ve started to like the camo versions of the SCAR they’ve been releasing more. Only thing I wish is that they applied the camo pattern to the entire gun, stock and grip included. I feel like it would look maybe a little more complete than just the receivers
Thanks for watching and your comment! Yes, I agree. For me though, I always change-out the stock grip with something custom since I have huge meat-hook hands. I'd like to see the multicam on the stock for sure. That's something I'm not going to change out, ever, because that's the iconic look.
great video. thanks for sharing. i'm going to order these parts now for my scar. it makes a lot of sense everything you said about this product. love it. again many thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching and your comments! That's why I do these videos, so that everyone can see the companies that make great aftermarket parts for popular guns! Parker Mountain Machine does a great job. For those QD sling mounts, I've had them attached as a single and double point attachment, and they've never failed on me or loosened! I was even jogging with my SCAR across my back and those mounts worked great. You won't be disappointed with anything you buy from Parker Mountain Machine!
I have a S&B 5x25 coming for a 308. I have the March 5x42 High Master on another 308...it is incredible. The fluorite crystal lenses just make me smile when I look through it. They are really pushing the innovation on scopes....Europeans will be playing catch up. Would get their new 4x28 but the S&B's are at a price I cant resist! Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and your comments! I couldn't agree with you more! For now, I've pretty much got a scope dedicated to every rifle I own, so I'm set for now.
Thanks for your report. I’m considering the Athena for uspsa LO minor. But sort of wondering if the Artemis would be worth the extra $1500. (Gulp, ouch) buy once cry once? 🤔 hmmm
Thanks for watching! You can't go wrong with either model! Some guys like the Athena because they don't like a sight-block gun, but I love the sight block. Now they're a year out so you can pay it off over much longer period of time. When I ordered mine, it was 6 months and I still had no problem making the payments. You get what you pay for!!
What combination did you do with the springs to get it to 4 pounds?
Thanks for watching! I'll tell you, this was so long ago, I don't remember. But, the kit does come with a flowchart that shows you which springs you need to use to achieve a certain pull weight.
@@docgsreloading7985 thanks!
I remember when shotguns came with a brass insert in the butt stock. No body complained about a sore shoulder. How generations have changed.
Beta males
You have died of dysentery on the Oregon trail. --game over--
Fudd alert.
Did you end up putting the shorter one in? If so, did you like the length of pull better?
Just bought one yesterday. Now we wait. Didnt have the cool 2 tone. Just black. But thats ok. Looking forward to it!
Thanks for watching! Yes, this is a great suppressor and I use it on all my 22LR and 5.7mm (plus, all the newer ones are black, they stopped making the 2-tone). I really like that you have 4 different configurations. I bought an AB Little Bird that is rated for 5.7 and used it yesterday for the first time on my 22LR Ruger Precision Rimfire, and it did not work well. I had so many fliers I couldn't believe it. I put my Q-Erector back on, and I could cut a drinking straw in half at 50 yards. So that was all the suppressor for some reason. You'll love the Switchback!
Just cut the elastic on the mag holder
How are you doing? I just picked up The A 300 ultimate patrol same one I have no idea why mine did not come with a choke or a removable, choke same exact shotgun. Can you help me with that?
TY for the info. Just got one and this info helps alot. Doesn't the 16" barrel unscrew and just get the suppressor and stamp ?
Thanks for watching and you comments! No, that barrel is pinned in with a braided wire plug. I tried drilling out the pin, but couldn't get all of it. It got so frustrating that I just cut the barrel and shroud at about the midpoint (the barrel is scrap after that, but why hang on to a barrel you're never going to use anyway) and then was able to unscrew everything. Use a cleaning rod down the stock barrel and then slide the new 10.4" barrel over the cleaning rod--that makes life a lot easier since there are 3 springs that need to stay in place during the barrel exchange process. You need a 15mm wrench (if you're a bicyclist and have a 15mm cone wrench, that is ideal, otherwise you have to grind down the width of a regular open end wrench) and the threads are LEFT handed, so go to the right (clockwise) to break the old one loose, and left to tighten the new one on. Remember, it's a floating barrel, so once the new one is tightened, there should be a little fore-aft play. You also have to get the SBR Tax Stamp for the 10.4" barrel (I get all of that stuff through Silencer Shop since they have all my info for electronic filing). It took all of a week, but now I hear that suppressors and SBR requests are coming back almost the same day.
Glad you like it, it’s helped me a lot in dynamic shooting. -Dimitri
It's official. Men are now women and will buy anything shiny or pretty.
Do you think it will work on p226 mag?
Thanks for watching! I'd say that these specific ones will not fit a P226 mag. Check out the link in the description since they should have a model that would fit.
Just bought one. Waiting for it to arrive. Liked this gun since I first saw it 15 years ago. I buy many guns but so many are lower priced-I pushed this one off. Excited to finally get it. Plan on the 10.5 barrel and maybe a suppressor.
Awesome! You'll love it. The trigger isn't the greatest, but who cares. I have it in a 35" case with 6 mags at 300 rounds and all the accessories I'd need. 19" overall length as an SBR. It's not inexpensive, but no FNH gun is. I also put the SilencerCo Switchback suppressor on it that has 4 different lengths/configurations and is rated for 5.7. It works great and doesn't change the point of impact.
Were you able to put an EOTech on top of that Crimson Trace laser saddle?
Thanks for watching! I didn't try to put a red dot on top of the Crimson Trace laser. The screws on top are used to attach the laser, so once it's on, I don't think there's a way to attach an additional optic to the top. You'd have to mount a pic rail to the top and then the optic to that in place of the Crimson Trace--one or the other but not both.
Never new I needed a trigger shoe until this vid
Thanks for watching! Yes, I was so glad to find the Briley trigger shoe, that I wanted to share what I found. I HATED my Benelli M4 trigger since every time I took it to the range my trigger finger would get sore after about 20 rounds (I don't wear gloves for any gun). My only option for that gun was to send out the trigger group and have someone rebuild it with a wider trigger for $450.00! Instead, I paid $30 to put a cool red trigger shoe over it and it has worked perfectly.
@@docgsreloading7985 as a person that also has big hands (not a s big as yours) and having a lil lady that likes to shoot, this is the best thing!
Battery life is not nearly the same. EOTech shows 1000 hours continuous use on mid brightness. Holosun shows 50,000 hours on mid brightness.
Thanks for watching! Yes, there is no comparison in battery life, but they are two completely different brands.
Hate the rattle of these speedloaders. Unacceptable for the price.
As soon as i saw the box it was off to a rocky start. That is a $1000 shot gun. With a flimsy ass box like that 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for watching! Well, you better get used to it--just about all guns are coming in those type of plain cardboard boxes now. I'm sure it cuts down costs. At least they give you a full 2-color manual!
I have a question. My 1301 comp had the same hole on the buttstock for a sling attachment. When you remove the rubber thing there's just nothing inside. How do I attach a sling on the buttstock?
Thanks for watching! I just pulled the rubber plug out and the QD connector went right in. All that's internal in the connector is a little groove that holds the small ball bearings of the sling part of the mount. Give it a try.
Oh.. so mine did not come with that QD connector. I just received the gun with a case and some oil. Can you send me a pic of the connector somewhere? Can't even find it in the beretta store..
