Stomp The Plank- Down From The Attic 102
Hey gang, well look at this! two reviews in a month? could it be I'm getting back at doing regular content again? well... we shall see, I mean, it's not for lack of games it's more lack of free time to review and film games!
But, with that out the way, this episode we're looking at Stomp The Plank, a new game that should be on your radars. A fun, simple to teach and play game, you'll be pushing your luck to be the last elephant pirate (elepirate? piratephant?) standing as you battle to make each other walk the plank! Brilliant for kids, even more fun with adults and a few drinks, this one is a strong recommend and would work great for an xmas present.
Hoping to get another review in the bag before xmas. Thanks for reading, thanks for watching and keep gaming!

DFTA 101 - Give The Dog A Bone (Waddingtons)
Переглядів 1 тис.14 днів тому
Hi gang, well this episode we're looking at a truly awful game, one that's followed me from childhood, one which despite warning fellow board game collectors about they foolishly purchased... this is Give The Dog A Bone from Waddingtons, the runt of the litter of a catalogue of excellent games from them. With this garbage out the way, I can begin to look at games I'm actually excited to talk an...

Hey gang, well, it's finally here, the 100th EPISODE of Down From The Attic. It's actually mental for me to think there's close to 25 hours of down from the attic out there! Thank you everyone who's supported the channel and followed me during this journey, it's been a transformative 7 years. From doing the channel, I now edit, film, animate and lately 3D animate for a living. Down From The Att...

Hi gang, Luke here, I'm back with an update as to what's been happening the last few months, a bit of an update with the channel and new episode and reviews and a look over what games I snagged at UK Games Expo at the start of this month! Rest assured, I'm working on episode 100, I've got the episode filmed, there's some effects (yep, you read right!) that need work on and some green screen to ...

Hey gang, rounding off another ball bearing week with one of my favourites, Bagatelle, a game that has a deeper and more interesting history and story to it than you first think! Thanks again for you following me all week showing some more of my ball bearing games, I've more for another week some time down the line :) keep on gaming, Luke
DFTA BBW Perplexus
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Рік тому
Some of you predicted in earlier videos this week that I may be looking at one of these and I've decided to go where it all began, the first Perplexus ball bearing game. This one isn't for the faint of heart....or patience :D This is a tough little game and made more infuriating by it's horrendous sounding music. Hope you enjoy the video! best regards, Luke
DFTA BBW Mountain Tour

Hey gang, day 4 of ball bearing week and looking a simple little game with a unique approach to controlling the ball around the course, Mountain Tour. Now this game goes by a bunch of different names but the idea of using string to control the ball is too weird not to share! Know this is a shorter episode, I've some longer episode for the remainder of ball bearing week happy gaming, Luke
Baffleball- Ball Bearing Week 2

Hey gang, day 3 and I'm looking at an old game but a fun one, Baffleball! This is a remarkably simple concept but one that's very very tricky to master! And this particular game is my Mum's, she grew up playing this and is the grand master still at it! Enjoy the video, Luke

Hey gang, here we are on day 2's Ball Bearing Week episode and one that's more recent, Screwall Scramble level 2, which I completely compatible with the original game from over 40 years ago! This game, much like its predecessor is a real challenge! Before anyone comments, I am aware of level 3 coming out/ being out and I've been forbidden from getting it before Christmas...so it seems I may be ...

Hey gang, I'm back with a look at a truly astonishing game, Dark Tower from Milton Bradley. When this game hit the scene in 1981 there really was nothing like it, and 40 later... it's still a marvel of ingenuity, though a game with a very scandalous and sordid past... I hope you enjoy the review. It's been a long time coming this review and for a number of reasons. First, Dark Tower...how to pu...

    I'm from Venezuela, this Game was very popular in My Country. Believe when I Say that we have a VERY insensitive humor, so, everybody loved The names of the characters 😂 I had a different version of the Game, though. It was a much modern presentation of It.

    Sounds like a fun toy. It's a game of chance in a world which prefers games of strategy. That's not bad, but of a different time & place. The fact you usually loose bones, however, sounds bad. As does the fact the dog has trouble climbing hills, tho that may be due to the toy's age.

    There is one minor question I have about this game: What exactly is Vul-Kar meant to be? Is he a sentient statue? Is he supposed to be some sort of old-fashioned flame-throwing device used by the early natives? Or is he some sort of monster? I'm not sure about that?

  • @williambenstead1925
    @williambenstead1925 14 днів тому

    Instead of using it as a board game, why not just leave it at pulling the dog back and letting it whiz around the track? That sounds to me like a lot more fun. Also, using it for Hot-Wheels cars does sound like a pretty nifty idea.

    • @downfromtheattic
      @downfromtheattic 16 днів тому

      I've really tried with Root but I just can't get on with it, it's just too asymmetric for my group to enjoy. It's not just understanding how a character or faction plays, it's knowing how your opponents factions do too and with expansions it's just an awful lot to keep track of. I do have Leder Games Oath and I've recently received Arcs too. I've been enjoying both of them massively, asymmetrical games but a lot less so than Root. I know I'm in the minority with Root though, there's a lot of people who adore that game

OK, OK, Iʼll hit the paws button on the puns and congratulate you on another well‐crafted episode, all the more remarkable since you donʼt find the subject matter all that inspirational one way or the other, except perhaps in its visual appeal. 🐾

    Now see... I do think there is an element to this that you touched on that I think this game needs some more credit for. As a game... It's a total non-starter. But that said, it's a simply *killer* playset or toy by itself if you ignore the game aspect. In fact, my dog-loving wife had this when she was younger, and given most of her family often wouldn't sit down to play this, she would often just have a whale of a time playing with the components by themselves. Barney especially. (And yes. For the record, this review and the sentiments within horrified her. 😋) Great to see you in the subscriber feed again!

    Well downfromtheattic monopoly is my mom's favorite game & if you've got Legos of different Lego sets like the lego Indiana Jones sets & Indiana Jones monopoly using those two things together can be quite fun to play like having a guard station lower the plank bar that you would see at boarder patrol or drop a net on the player's token that landed on the go to jail space. It's quite fun the right Legos pieces setup would make monopoly plenty of fun. Their are a lot of facts about both Lego & Monopoly.
