- Hey gang, know it's been a few weeks but I've been busy behind the scenes as usual!
You'll see that there's a new intro sequence that's took a gargantuan amount of work to get looking right. A mixture of miniature sets I built, live footage, stop motion, 3D graphics...yeah...it's took a lot of work, really happy with it and I hope you like it too.
Looking at GHOSTLY GALLEON from Waddingtons this episode, a wonderful game of deceit and backstabbing trying to steal pirate treasure from Blackbeard's ghost! Truly an overlooked classic this one!
Have an episode all queued up and ready for Halloween, have another weeklong special also ready to roll and some Modern Classics that I think you'll get a real kick out of!

Great video Luke! Love the new intro. I've had Ghostly Galleon for about a year or so now but have never yet gotten it to the table to play. It looks like a blast - real golden age Waddingtons mechanics going on there. It definitely reminds me of Bewitched with the grabbing secret treasures and bluffing, as well as moving blockers into your opponents paths.
Thanks Mark, you should absolutely get round to playing this one. I like games where you pulling the wool over opponents eyes and this is definitely one :)
I would love to see Hasbro and Mattel create new experiences that reflect this sort of design. Let's move away from the 10 Monopoly variants and make room for more exciting games.
The ship is a lovely centrepiece to the game, no question.

we should have more modern board games to try and achieve the "hand painted, vintage" art style of board games in the 90s
they were always very pretty, most games nowadays usually go for the very minimalistic style
I prefer it, I like to see brush strokes and pencil marks. I know artists can do similar with Illustrator and Photoshop but...I dunno, can always tell that it's digital for some reason.
New intro looks great. The effort that goes into these is always worth the wait.

If it wasn't t for escape from Atlantis this would be my favorite waddingtons game. It comes down the very end every single time. Almost like the original fireball island. Amazing review! An overwhelming happiness takes over when I watch these videos. Lifelong fan here :)
Wow, high up on the list then? It's defo one of Waddington's better thought out games...Give The Dog A Bone is not one of them :D
@@downfromtheattic haven't played give a dog a bone but I know enough to know it ain't good. Another waddingtons game to check out is game of Dracula. Fits the halloween theme and has an interesting gameplay. Nothing crazy about it but it's fun and should Def be in your collection! Cheers!

I had the boat for this game with nothing else... we must have picked it up in a carboot sale at some point.... I just put my Lego pirates in it, nice to know were it came from.

I specifically searched for games with 3d components on boardgamegeek and somehow I never found this ... Seems pretty cool!
Anyway the new intro is great, but the lighting in the episode is a bit weird, I'd go for a main diffused neutral white light with the colored light just as accents 🤓

This video got the usual thumbs‐up from me, but unusually - instead of hitting 👍 at the end - I did it at the end of the opening title, because the sequence was freakinʼ *_AWESOME!!!_*
But the rest of the episode was well deserving too. 😁 Unfortunately it made me jealous - not because you own this UK‐only game, for Iʼve managed to pick up a copy too despite being a Yank in Yankland - but because youʼve been playing it and Iʼve not!! 😛 Unfortunately my gaming groupʼs “Spooktober” keeps getting beset with scheduling issues…but if we donʼt get this played by All Hallows Eve, well, I suppose we can shoot for _Nosferatember!!_

Hahaha thanks Erik, yeah this one for a while was tough to find, there's another game called Ghostly Galleon by Tomy but it's not even close to being similar. And America has a ton of US exclusive games that I'd love to get my paws on, import fees are at an all time high at the moment though :(
I had the other version of Ghostly Galleon that was made later, a more cartoony game with a giant ship that rotated on a base to knock players overboard. Any chance of you covering that one at some point?
