W Krzyżowej podczas eksmisji mój dziadek musiał wywozić tych ludzi do Świdnicy w Krzyżowej przy dużym moście zamordowano rodzinę i mój dziadek potem musiał wykopywać tych już rozkładających się ludzi i przenosili ich do Grodziszcza na cmetarz. Jestem pod wrażeniem fundamentalnej mądrości wypowiadających się w filmie kobiet. Polki, czy Niemki, w tym filmie to prawie jedno. Słowo "patriotyzm" nabiera innego znaczenia. Musisz byc Polakiem.Potem zabrali i ziemie. Za mowienie po niemiecku mialo sie klopoty,wyjazd do rodziny do Niemiec zabroniony.Niszczono rodziny,polonizowano dzieci.Obecnie wielu z nas ktorzy po 1990 nie wyjechali do Niemiec nawet nie mowi po niemiecku.Ale dalej jestesmy.Jestesmy u siebie.Bo tu jest nasza mala ojczyzna.Prusy Zachodnie,Prusy Wschodnie czy Slask lub Pomorze dalej jest w tym samym miejscu.Ludzie sie zmienili,czasy sie zmienily,kultura tez.Ale to wszystko minie.Co jest istotne by nie klamac o historii.Mowic prawde nawet gdy boli Niemcow czy Polakow.dziekuje Panu Profesorowi za ten material.Po wielu latach ktos powiedzial to co boli i nie pozwala zyc na tej ziemi w zgodzie razem.

My great grandparents were recorded as coming from Schweitzen, a very northern town in Pomerania on the Baltic sea. He was surnamed Rach and she was a Krause with a grandfather surnamed Petersen. Our DNA test came back as German/Slavic/Baltic with some Scandinavian, which seems to have been common for Pomeranians back then. I feel saddened and empty thinking of my family’s lost language and culture.

My great-great Grandfather and his Son(my great grandfather), arrived on a ship in 1884 from Pomerania, Prussia, Germany, going to Baltimore, MD. They arrived as a whole group. Does anyone’s family know the family name ‘Gast’? I’m trying to piece things together as others have commented.
