Wing Sung 3411 Fountain Pen Review
Here's a new offering from Wing Sung. The Wing Sung 3411, listed on Ebay as the "M2 Transparent Clear Vaccum [sic] Fountain Pen." This is a decent pen although with room for improvement. But for the low price it's worth the buy.

I use gloves when cleaning and doing maintenance to keep from transferring skin oil to the nib or feed
Cloning the cloner!! This is a clone of the Moonman M2. The M2 was one of the first Chinese pens I bought back in 2019 and thet're still available today. As totallylegit2068 mentioned; the Moonman is made of a crystal clear turned acrylic and quite a nice pen considering it's $15-20 cost. The nib is a standard No5 set into a nib unit (same as the one used in the Mini Wancai). It's a bit stiff but is a solid writer, which can be replaced with other No5 nibs. The original M2 had a simple red aluminum band and surprisingly was very original and is quite popular in the comunity. It's when the Chinese brands began stepping up their game in quality. They later came out with ones with aluminum sections, but I would recommend the 1st version which is 100% demostrator. Here, I believe Wing Sung is trying to steal some on Moonman's mojo with a cheap injection molded plastic copy of their pen. The nib also looks like Wing Sung's clone of the pilot style nibs. If you like the form factor, you won't regret adding the Moonman version to your collection. Thanks for the video!!
seems like a moonman m2 copy. the one with the end of the body being a solid piece is the original, its turned acrylic instead of injection molded. the original moonman is far nicer and i dont get any leaking/burping problems with it as the acrylic is thicker than the clone.
@totallylegit2068 it seems like these Chinese companies change hands and name regularly. Majohn and Moonman, for example. On some pens, you can find both of their names.
@@thepenman357 moonman is the main offender for this, they went from lecai to moonman to majohn.
very helpful, thanks for sharing
When I'm working on pens, restoring them or taking them apart, I like to use a 'silicone soldering mat'. If you spill a bit of ink, you can rinse it off under water. And it prevents small parts from rolling around, falling to the ground and getting lost. There are some very sophisticated ones (like that described in the UA-cam video entitled "BEST Silicone Solder Mat For Your Work Bench"), but the cheaper ones, for less than 5$, do the job just fine. The wooden block with the holes is a great tool. I also wrap a rubber band around the block to hold all sorts of objects in different shapes, like square miniature ink bottles. This way, you don't have to drill special holes that you rarely need.
@thorhilda Good suggestions, thanks for your input 👍
06:19 you can change the clip position by unscrewing the top titanium cap and rotating the clip then tightening the cap.
@@bobak5126 Yep, you're right. The only problem is that the clip then does not line up with the logo on the band. An individual preference for sure.
I like to have a can of compressed air to blow moisture out after cleaning converters, cartridges etc
Hey! Great tip on shortening the length of that rubber bulb. I thought that it was just me, when I could never fit the tip into any nib unit!
By the way, you resemble the great actor Tommy Lee Jones 😊
I have these, two of them in fact. I think they are better than the asvine v126 for my preferences. Their nib unit/collar is able to swap with more nib types (aka bock) while the one on the v126 does not. The natami's grip is more comfortable and similar to the leonardo momento zero/ moonman m800, and well balanced in the hand with it leaning slightly towards the tip of the pen. The design is certainly something different from the usual, kudos for that. Slight gripe would be the threading on the pen needs a bit of washing/grease as they are not perfectly smooth when arrived to me. With some use they smoothen out and have no problems. The filling system is the same as the asvine's, I reckon it is threaded the same (not sure)
😍😍😍 Thank you for your purchase and recommendation. If you purchase again, please contact the backend customer service and we will give you another pen for you to try.
The thing that bothers me with the Asvine P20, is that the resin of the parts was not lined up when making the threads. On (far more expensive!) Italian pens, you can see that the makers actually lined up the cap, body, and blind cap when creating the screw threads, so that they match when the pen is closed. Of course ... I also understand that you can only expect so much at the Asvine's price point.
Great review! TIP for listeners: set the playback speed to 2x normal.
1,5 is better. 😉
One of the most interesting looking fountain pens I've seen, without in any way being pretentious. And the concave section looks extremely comfortable. Have you tried installing a Jowo nib in it? I ask because I prefer broad nibs.
@jimkrieger776 I think that I checked if it was the same and I believe it is. But now I'll have to check for sure 😀
Platinum Carbon Black AND Aurora Black are 2 magnificent black inks !
I had the Natami insection, great pen. This one does not catch my eye. Great review.
Great video
@@TheoJinx Thank you!
The blue one is a very beautiful pen, the one i liked the most, but i think that swarovski crystal although it is nice to have, it will probably came out with some intensive use. Have you tested it's durability to stay in place, if pen is carried around in a case alone or with other pens hitting one another in a school case? Grey is also very beautiful and they also look great as a pair. I think it would be a nice idea to make a red or orange color and a green, light green color to use with the basic four colors people often choose (black, blue, red, green). Next up, maybe a brown, turquoise, pink, purple and yellow. Unfortunately living on the poor side of Greece (not in islands) with a monthly income of 500 euro, i can't afford to buy one of your pens, no matter how much i like that blue one. Best regards, Nicolas
@nikossiotas Thus far, I have not lost any of my crystals. Of course, anything can happen at any time in an imperfect world. I also take good care of my pens. Some are good for EDC, and others should stay on the desk or in a case that keeps them from banging into each other. I have tried to price my pens under $100 USD in order to make them accessible to as many people as possible. I wish I could sell these for half the price, but then I would be losing money. I make each pen individually, and it takes 2-3 hours to make one pen, so I need to include the value of my time in the price, as well as the cost of materials. Thankfully, there are many mass manufactured pens available that are at a much lower price point that makes them affordable to more people. Enjoy the journey.
@@thepenman357 I understand that, and it is a very reasonable price considering the materials that you use and the work you put on them! It's a handmade pen after all, and it is unique, not like thousands of pieces from an automated machine in a factory. Yes, as a desk pen, i don't think it will have any problem with that crystal either. I just felt the need to apologize for commenting on your video, but not proceeding with a purchase, that's why i mentioned the price compared to my income.
Thank You for a splendid review! Regarding the piston knob....when closed, is it secure? Some piston knobs are not tight enough upon completed closure thus the potential for ink to leak.
@howardcunix8677 It seems very secure to me. My experience with Asvine pens is that they are high quality pens, so there should be no problems with the mechanisms.
Diving into fountain pen. Both of this made itto my final and now I can't decide which one to get 💀

I treat Kakuno as budget prera. Someone told me Kaweco Sport clips fits on Kakuno
The sport clips would probably be too small. The better fit would be to use the Kaweco Perko clip
On one hand it's beautiful. On the other hand it's comically short.
@MohammadAslamMagsi It's a good size for a pocket pen, or shirt pickets with little depth.

Wow, what a craftsman. Gorgeous pens. My favorites are the clipped ones.
@@santauxia thanks!
I practice Chinese Calligraphy using fude fountain pens and I find it much easier to get line variation if you put your paper on a thin, soft pad like an oversized mouse pad that I bought from Amazon a month ago. I love writing Chinese bible verses in Calligraphy style and I find it very stress relieving and peaceful.
Very talented!!
@@user-gl5ld9vm7i I appreciate the compliment
The clip-less blue one is just beautiful.
@spandandutta2485 thank you!
I like the clip less ones. The swirls are just lovely. Personally think unless the clips are fancy/sleek. It's hard to like clipped pens.
@unknowncrash1 A lot of people like the clips for their utilitarian purposes. I usually use a leather pen sleeve rather than clipping in my shirt pocket.
Great review! have the P20 in amber. Love it!
I am using both of them, and feel that they are incredibly good pens with each own merit.
@@junglialoh yep, variety is the spice of fountain pen life.
Have them both, the X159 is a superior pen in my opinion, really affordable pens. Actually the 159 was my first fountain pen. Hey Pen Man, any new creations on your own?. Haven' seen a new pen in a while.
@@santauxia I actually have some of my pens for sale on my Etsy shop. I'll do a review shortly. Thanks for asking.
On one of my X159s the cap broke were the clip is attached, just by the action of sliding the clip over the pocket of a casual shirt.
@@johndevault9030 ouch, that's rotten.
I guess X750 has more modern design and X450 more old-school, cigar-like one? That is the only meaningful distiction that I see. Maybe X450 has more colour variants but not all sellers carry them. I have X450 in ivory which looks very good, better then I expected, even wrote well right from the start (it needed some adjustement because of a slight baby bottom). A bit too short unposted, and posting is not great but for that kind of money, I use it as a sign/jotting down pen, filled with iron gall ink. If it gets rusted/screwed up/clogged, I would not feel that bad about it. And i am thinking about buying another one as a holder for some number 6 Jowo nibs.
Rubber innertube strips or rubber shelf mats as a gripping tool. Also rubber-coated pliers for nib removal.
@@johnpetrucellijr.8167 rubber coated pliers, yes!
I don't know how many people this would help, it's kind of a specific case for people with a 3D printer, but I designed and printed a modified clothespin with stabilizer "legs" splayed in an "X", and an extension at the clamp area to better hold empty cartridges and converters perfectly vertical so I don't have to hold them while loading an industrial syringe with ink from a bottle to make refilling those tubes easier. Another thing I do, don't really know if you could call it a "tool", but I bought some clear plastic test tubes with aluminum screw-on caps from Amazon that are about 7 inches long, and about 1 inch in diameter. Great for storage of pens that for whatever reason don't have nicer packaging cases. I print a card 1"x6" with text boxes for the brand, model, color, nib specs, ink fill methods, company where I sourced the pen, and notes on removing the cap, disassembling the nib section, and body of the pen, and include the card into the tube, so years later I don't have to worry about, for example, twisting a nib that I was supposed to pull straight out. Also, get a plastic toolbox with an upper tray for all your cleaning and maintenance supplies. One with a few fast-access bins integrated into the lid for commonly used tools is pretty handy. If you're still early in your pen habit, you can even keep your ink bottle collection in the lower compartment, but don't expect that to last too long. 😏
@@Dosbomber All good ideas. I wish that I had kept records for each pen I bought. Now I need to play catch-up on a lot of them.
a few sheets of blotting paper, vinyl gloves and a bib are very helpful tools.
@barryporter6993 the bib is a great idea!
Great list! I will add a rubber grip. Once in a while, a pen with a small section that's slippery is too tough for me. I think a few rubber bands could work, but I like the rubber grip I purchased from Goulet.
@@KendallW I actually had a grip to show, but it got lost on my messy desk. Yep, they come in handy.
I agree with all you said. I would just add a rubber grip (like the Goulet grip) and wooden toothpicks to put the silicon grease in the barrel of piston filler from the section, possibly too a feeler gauge to measure the distance between the tines but the shims are good enough I suppose. Lastly I’d mention that you would want a couple of bulb syringe one like you shown and one with a shorter neck so that you can put the syringe around the thread for the section to clean it (typically I do this with Japanese pens).
@@ChrisGVE All helpful suggestions, thanks!
Great video ! I really like the Kakuno. I am left handed and bought the medium nib. Writes very smooth for me. I have only the used the cartridge that came with it.
@rostinfarm the Kakuno is a nice writer, indeed. My only issue with the Kakuno is the cap design, I'm not too crazy about it.
Asvine wrench is the most useful of all the wrenches considering the number of parts it can disassemble.
@@unknowncrash1 I agree 👍
It is going to depend on the pen section, but another useful tool is a desoldering bulb. Just pull the tip out of the bulb and you can use it similar to the bulb syringe, except it will go over the end of the pen section rather than in the end of the pen section. It works great for some pens, but is useful to have in your pen maintenence tool box. I'd also add some jewelry polishing cloths for wiping down the pen exterior.
@johndevault9030 yes, a polishing cloth would be a good addition. I still don't have one, though. I'm still using my shirt tale🤪
Great advice.
I by a jinhao88 black it writes very well But the red and blue colors its a lot more beautiful
@@jeancarlostashima8629 it's nice to have a little variety.

How do you unscrew the piston cap? I just got mine and after a few turns it appears it is getting bound up. I don't want to force it.. Should the cap just screw completely off so as to operate the piston?
@JaySott when you unscrew the blind cap, the piston moves toward the grip. At that point, the cap stops turning. The cap does not have to come off for normal filling. The blind cap will only unscrew about 2-3 mm. So, unscrew the cap until it stops, insert the nib into the ink bottle so that the feed is completely submerged, then screw the blind cap back to draw in the ink.
This pen; aside from its other attributes, is a godsend for those with arthritis. The 9019 was my daughter's no. 1 pick; out of all my pens; because it was the most comfortable for her hand.
