A Channel for Bashers! So much Thrash here, with hundreds of hours for Subscribers, You'll never get bored, even in the Winter! My railway interest started at 12, died off, in my late teens and came back in the last 35 years. I love rail travel, being able to have a beer, without the drink drive problem. I love window gazing and in years gone by, window hanging from the front drop down, not available on all mainline trains nowadays!
Almost all trains, are now boring sealed air con' tubes. So in tribute the drop down window, now extinct from the mainline, where the real atmosphere is with train travel, I am trying to cover, as many lines as possible, particularly behind heritage loco traction, to film. I have set up a safe rig, respecting H&S concerns. Great sound quality, gps data in some films was a must and of course, roof cam on the Heritage lines catching the clag! In pursuit of great sound with reduced wind noise, the mission is almost complete.

The sounds and view really don't get much better than this! Awesome pair of Class 25 diesels meet up after many years apart! I really recommend getting the volume up listening to this with headphones on as if you were there in the front drop down in the front vestibule.. The signature thumping class 50 noise, with a particularly dirty exhaust for me, makes Valiant one of the most enjoyable 50's out there! Being Thunderbird to 40145 on the day and running into the night this Class 50 lived up to it's name for sure. Enjoy the fun! On the day multiple failures spookily on Friday the 13th!!!!!!

During the September 2024 Diesel Gala, at the Great Central Railway travelling behind 50017, we heard the iconic English Electric sounds. Saturday August 3rd at the Spa Valley Railway turned out D7535 on the 1400 Eridge - Tunbridge Wells West service and we captured the entire journey. Class 25's are made for the preserved lines and this one was truly awesome with the noise created! TOPS number 25185 is well worth spending 13 minutes with. Enjoy the ride and the lovely Spa Valley Railway.

Used to love the sound of these coming up bank into scunthorpe. Hear them for ages on MGR trains.
Remember it well, 30 years ago, I used to work in Lincolnshire on the road around the county. I used to park up frequently at Scunthorpe station and watch the 56's on the move eating my lunch! They were non stop back in the day! Seems like only yesterday!

Brooksbottom tunnel gives you a real taste of what the 56s really sound like. They have so much torque dragging a few coaches is far too easy for them. Nonetheless great footage. 😅 Fond memories of the ‘Drags’ on Sundays from Bham New St back in the day.

@@hellfiretvmh drove plenty of them but never passed to drive them, was trained on EPBs, CEPs, Veps etc. Now drive 59s and 66s out of the Mendips.
Just out of curiosity, what did the Secondman actually do in the loco?
@@atlanticmarine100 Act as a second pair of eyes for the driver, relay hand signals when in a possession, couple/uncouple the locos, basically learn off the driver routes etc
@@atlanticmarine100 my experiences of watching a second man at work include coupling up and de-coupling to stock/ wagons, assistance reading signals, attachment and removal of rear lights on stock, assistance with break tests, changing the points when required, phone calls to signal boxes trackside, getting the teas in and I’m sure there’s a lot more. These are just my observations from the cabs when filming…perhaps someone else can step in with more information please….

@hellfiretvmh 40145 hadn't gone mainline last time I went there 🫠 and D1041 was active. Some vids on my channel, all vhs though so not as good quality as yours.

@@hellfiretvmh I agree with you. People say don't look back, but I would go back to 70's any day. I loved the cars too. The class 40's appeared to me as being so businesslike in their operation. I enjoyed seeing them at the head of trains like The Irish Mail, and often on the Royal Mail when I could actually post a letter on the train. Considering we still have class 37's around I was surprised when the 40's were withdrawn so early.

That’s a credit for my Drone Man then… Richard Gennis he uses a DJI Mini 3 from memory..
If anything sounds unique it has to be the beloved Class 44 with their Swiss built power units. I was unfortunate not to witness these pioneer locos working hard, back in the day. Trips round Toton MPD usually presented most of the mountain namers parked up among the other locos on shed, either ticking over or switched off. D4 was my first number spotted back in summer, 1967 on parcels at Walsall!

@@hellfiretvmh Yes, in the early 80,s I lived on a small council estate outside Stroud on the hill opposite the main line to London Paddington. Treated to a plethora of proper1960,s iron, not washing machines or food processers on wheels. Tractors ,Toffee Apples, Brushes, Met Camms and of course Hoovers rumbling growling along that line. On a still night one can hear a well thrashed Hoover or Tractor for miles, now it is Sheds Skips Fugglies and other crap bought cheaply from Euronics or Currys.

Very good. Cannot go in the cab of any loco when it is moving. Can only peak through the cab window / open door when it is parked at the side of a platform. Not been to any preserved line since early July 2019 and last time I was on the GCR was in July 2017 for their Model Railway Exhibition.
