Trepang 2 Review: A Gory Tribute to Classic Shooters
It’s the best game ever
each chapter have a toad boss
Dude you perfectly described my experience with this game. I didn’t like the gameplay and thought I wasted my money on this hard game but I’m finishing up chapter 3 and I love it
I know right!
misleading thumbnail. i was expecting a 60 hour review 1/10
😂 Ahh see, you missed the really quiet bits I layered over the video 60 times.
in all seriousness, this has to be one of the most in depth reviews i’ve seen on this game. great job!
@@ashb9761 Thanks, it means a lot!
You missed Yellow Loong, one of the best boss.
Yeah that was a fun one!
not a souls like game 🙏🏾
Why not?
@@LucidLetsPlaybecause the developers said it themselves it's more of god of war
@@tswj Fair enough. Although it has a LOT of elements and inspiration from soulslikes.
missed the erlang battle,what a pity😢
I know! I couldn't fit it in the video lol.
every chapter has secret map and boss, there are 2 endings,if you don't defeat erlang, you'll get the bad ending
Well said.
a short review 1 hour and 40 min
I shudder to think how long a long one is
If it was a soulslike yes. But its not.
What makes you say it's not?
a SHORT review??
I think I might die of old age trying to write a LONG one :D
Good video! You deserve every sub you get
Thanks for the kind words :)
I've been playing for (kinda) the first time recently, and I've done pretty good with understanding that things are propably more scared of me than I am of them. But the sparse reef. Oh God the sparse reef. That was the first time I'm my playthrough so far that I felt genuine terror. The PDA telling me that it seems usually sparse didn't help me feel any better, just starting making me think of what could cause it to be that way. Is the area itself dangerous? Or maybe it's sparse, because anything that enters is quickly swooped up by something else. It freaked me out a ton.
Yeah, Subnautica has a feeling of tension that you don't get anywhere else! The Sparse Reef isn't dangerous AFAIK, but you'll feel like it is :D
U missed alot of stuff wow
I couldn't fit it all into the video :D
@@LucidLetsPlay I totally get that! Did u face the secret boss?
Yeah, it's a really good one but damn it's hard.
Scorpion lord was the 3rd hardest boss in the game for me. 1st is secret boss 2nd was end game broken shell.
Agreed, the secret boss is probably harder than the Scorpion!
Funny how the original game has no auto save, BUT BELOW ZERO ONLY AUTOSAVES WHEN IM STUCK IN THE MURCURY 2 IN MY SEATRUCJ AND UNSTUCK WONT WORK. If your game is buggy as freak, let us choose save files
lmaooo
never experienced input delay. also this game has a lot more interesting details that you missed. the vessel from chapter 1 can prevent you from fire damage while on that cricket.
Ah, maybe it was just a me problem! Yeah, I enjoyed the Chapter 1 secret boss, I just didn't have room to put it in the video :D
Hundred eye “he said when you die and you will die”! 😂😂💀 facts better get that needle!
I hate that boss :D
@@LucidLetsPlay same! Looking forward to future content I hit that sub. Great video. 💯
Thanks dude! I'll be back with more!
A tip I’m sure a lot of you know but if you go back and play through parts where there are what I call honey holes of (guys you can beat to collect xp you can make your future play through a lot easier. I know it’s boring but it definitely has helped me plus you might get something you might have missed. This being said though fuck the tiger van guard!!!!
Pillar stance is underrated 🔥
It's so much fun. Smash stance is better though ;)
@@LucidLetsPlay i like the smash stance I just like how the pillar stance for the most part limits how much damage I take (for the most part) 😂 good video bro and I haven’t unlocked the hub yet either!!
Yeah, agreed! Hahaha, that damn hub... I felt so stupid lol.
@@LucidLetsPlay same here man! Lol
Considering that you said you have no knowledge of JTTW, I can understand why you don't understand the point of the vessels and the cheat code they are. In the Novel, when they came up to facing certain enemies, they didn't succeed without these vessels. The Chinese would have known or even expected these items to be in the game, and understood why you need them. An example is the black wind bear. In the novel, the fire mantle is what saved the Tang monk and his party from the fire caused by Elder Jinchi because he wanted to steal the monk's kasaya. The weavers needle is similar, as was the wind tamer, and even the fan in chapter 5. They were essential to the original story and the only way for Wukong to topple these challenges. So its not necessarily a balancing issue, as its a take of the original story. This may help you understand why these items/secret areas are tied to the secret boss that leads to the good ending, and why only those who explore the games content, or have foreknowledge of the original novel, will succeed in getting that secret ending.
That's really intresting actually, I did feel like the secret area vessel rewards were almost a requirement and it makes sense from a lore perspective. Thanks for sharing!
This game is actually not a soulslike
Why not?
in ng+4 ng+5 hits more harder tha souls games
OMG, we share such similar experience of Black Myth Wukong. I had also died to similar bosses as you, and found other bosses relatively easy. I found Captain Wise-Voice camera issues was bothering as-well, but not too hard to defeat after five death to him. I came to realize if hitting his leg the HP drop was way too slow, it must not be the correct way to attack. And camera issue didn't bother me since I knew I need only to watch my step. By understanding the core mechanics are save all bursts abilities till phase two, when he went down, I used light attack combos and immobilized him "right after" to extend his weakened phase (if hit with heavy attack he will rise much faster) . I finally defeat him within two rotations, and felt so good about myself of figuring it out. The frustrating thing / awesome parts of this game is the dev's team really puts you in the position to think alike Wukong ( who is extremely smart and always figure out solutions in novel < journey to the west >.
Interesting! Yeah, we had similar experiences!
1:07:19 poor scorpion is dead you can only fight him before the chicken skeleton. So does another transformation.
Chicken skeleton 😂
43:39 they nerfed wise voice 😂 because it was broken.
I feel like I need to replay the nerfed fight to see how it is
30:04 you need to acquire a side mission. So u can cancel his wind.
Oh I see it now 33:33 . Just so you know in chapter one it has another vessel too.
Yeah, I got the fire mantle from chapter one. But it didn't make it to the video 😂
I don't think it qualifies as a soulslike because I'm having fun with it and soulslike games are where fun goes to die. Also, running and dodging are two separate buttons and Fromsoft will never do that because y'know difficulty inflation and whatnot.
Very true, I love soulslike games but please, pick a different jump button!
Very detailed review, appreciate it!
Cheers dude!
wow, a review with such detail
Thanks! :)
Wow, that’s a long video! You missed a ton of contents: the most beautiful area in the whole game, purple cloud mountain; the epic fight against Erlang.
I couldn't fit it all in 😂
You're not supposed to dodge the black balls from the fish, you're supposed to deflect them with staff spin.
You're not supposed to dodge the black balls from the fish, or indeed any other boss. You're supposed to deflect them with staff spin.
Ahh, yes! That would have been smart wouldn't it 😂
What did you think of Black Myth Wukong? What are your favourite and least favourite bosses? Let me know!
The game taught me a lesson: You can't complain that the rock is too hard if you keep hitting your head against it. I fought hours against the Wandering Wight, the first real boss that I encountered. After defeating it I learned that you can totally skip it and come back later when you are stronger and better! This game isn't open world but it doesn't have to be linear unless your mindset is linear.
This happens on every game with big bosses that have nice mobility and there's a camera lock, so you have 2 choices, get good, or unlock the camera
You're right. Get good, or unlock the camera which makes it even harder!
major issue the camera in this game ive never had so many issues in my life fighting vosses
Yeah, it was a problem quite a lot.
My only real complaint is visual effects blocking my view on what is happening, they look really great but I’d prefer not to have a screen full of dust.
I know right. Some bosses are even worse in this respect but also the game looks gorgeous.
Stop crying about it, the game is suppose to be hard and shit happens
A game being hard doesn’t mean the camera lock has to be shit. That’s comparing difficulty level to a core mechanic of a game
Exactly! Not the point I was making.
The full video will be out soon! (PS. Wukong game good)
This is an incredibly high quality video for a small channel! You sir, deserve a like!
Thank you! You also deserve a return like.
Autosave is gay
Why?
This game is like portal 2s graphic nothing amazing but still good and doesn’t look old I do think below zero did look better in most areas
It's held up well over the years for sure
I think i fucked up something, I don't get any signals from the radio anymore, i definitely didn't get every signal to lifepods, i didnt even get the signal to degasi base in the violet weird cave, i already was in lava zone and i dont know what to do
I think the radio pretty much stops giving things out near the end. It's up to you to explore the later parts!
ok don't want to be a jerk or anything but you got alot of your lore and times wrong and as a person who absoluty loves this game its quite frustrading
What did I get wrong?
I also didn't know to change my character from the stock female to the male. It seems intentionally obtuse
Glad I wasn't the only one
@@LucidLetsPlay to be fair, once I got to the options I got my guy dripped tf out
The explanation for why the juvenile ghost leviathans is actually implied when you find the egg tree in the lost river. Basically it appears as though the lost river doesn’t have enough resources to supplement the adults, and that they go down into the lost river to lay their eggs as to protect their children as there is a lack of leviathan-sized predators in the lost river. As the babies grow up and need more food they venture out into the wider ocean
Interesting!
Is this multiplayer?
Single player only!
i love subnautica so much. i think a game you would like is The Last Of Us, ive beat it like 12 million times its a wonderful game. it is quite scary though, but its so fun too. its a 10/10 from me
Good suggestion! I have played a little bit of The Last of Us, but never beaten it, I'll put it on the list :)
@@LucidLetsPlay yay thank you
Hey! Great video, I learnt a lot of things, enough to make me buy the game! However, one thing I'm not sure I understood properly: you say the game lacks longevity, but you also say it has a good replayability, can you please explain the difference between both? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the feedback! :) In my opinion, I feel like the game is holding itself back in some aspects because of it's focus on completing the run ASAP, ie. if you don't get to the end as soon as you can, you'll die, which then makes all of the long term features like crafting etc feel a little lacklustre. But at the same time, it's designed to feel replayable from it's roguelike elements.
I thought it was pretty ridiculous that you know you get a message at that point for the leviathan's that are predatory versus the ones that are not like the reef backs
What do you guys think of Terminus: Zombie Survivors? Let me know in the comments :)
