Using Passport Hardware Wallet With Bitcoin Keeper - Multisig
hey guys, I love passport but I am really worried about updating my device because of dark skip. Any measures you are taking to prevent problems?
We have plenty of conversation on this in our Telegram community. Consider joining us there and feel free to ask questions @foundationdevices
Where do I get a seed signer?
I applied to be an ambassador please how do I use my coupon codes to gain referrals?
Please contact support for any ambassador related issues hello@foundation.xyz
is blue wallet custodial or noncustodial now in 2024?
Blue Wallet on chain has always been non-custodial. They have sunsetted their custodial Lightning network solution.
This is a great zero to 1 resource to send to people who are curious about getting into bitcoin. People who spend the time to watch this will have a greater understanding of bitcoin. Thank you for creating this
Man, thanks for the video. Really helped me. In the video you did not used as a key the BlueWallet generated seed. Maybe that’s why I get an error message. I will try the way showed in the video. The more I learn about passaporte more I like it !
Glad it helped you! If you need any technical support, fee free to reach us via email. hello@foundation.xyz
I’m trying to use my passport with BlueWallet but it can’t read the QR CODE. It says the BlueWallet uses an old version that has been superseded. Is there any way to fix it ?
Hi, please contact support with as much info as possible and one of our support agents would be happy to help. hello@foundation.xyz
軟件和設備支持中文嗎?
We only support English on Passport. Envoy supports English, Spanish, Catalan and Portugese for now.
This was super helpful! Thanks
So the seed phrase words are always saved for you to look it up? Thats doesn’t seem safe, right? What’s the point of writing it down then? Maybe I’m misunderstanding, or just confused…?
It is standard practice for Bitcoin wallets to have the ability to show the seed words in settings. The app can be protected by PIN or biometrics to prevent unauthorized access.
What is the change amount and change address?
Change is the amount of bitcoin sent back to your wallet from this transaction. Analogy - If you buy a beer for $1 and pay with a $10 note. You'll receive $9 back in change.
@foundationdevices thanks for the reply...but I'm getting weird and random change amount numbers that don't make sense with the transaction I'm sending
@@dereksnyders8094 The change amount for each transaction is dependent on the coins used from your wallet. If you aren't choosing which ones to use in a tx (coin control), then the wallet will do this for you.
@@foundationdevices thanks
@@dereksnyders8094 this sounds like a misunderstanding of how Bitcoin transactions work. Please contact support at hello@foundation.xyz and one of our agents will be happy to walk through the issue with you.
How many microSD cards backups we can make?
As many as you'd like.
Я перелистал кучу информации и не нашел какие монеты от поддерживает, где мне это можно посмотреть?
Bitcoin only.
Pls is there a way I can get the vault key of an imported wallet?
passport wont send a transaction says qr bad on blue wallet. over and over on multi sig, please help
If I lose the device, do I just need to have my seed phrase to input into a new device? Or do I also need the microSD card as well?
How often do you have to update the SD card with the latest firmware?
It’s safe to show your webcam the QR code?
It is. Your seed is not exposed.
your volume is not clear
Love that is has the retro cell style. Probably would not be noticed as anything other than an old cell phone by most people.
do you have a authorized store in Thailand or Singapore?
All of our resellers can be found at foundation.xyz/resellers/
Do I need Nunchuk's paid service to do this? I love what I'm seeing here!
No you don't.
Customer electrum server is not under settings on the envoy app on mine. It shows testnet and taproot. No electrum server
That's correct. This feature has now moved to the privacy screen. docs.foundationdevices.com/envoy/privacy
If the encrypted backup is a bunch of numbers whats to stop someone who has my SD card from brute forcing it I just have to count upwards until I get it even if it is 20 numbers... Why not stick with words? That also applies to the pin of the device, whats to stop the brute forcing of that?
Hey, just double checking that you got an answer to your question via our Telegram group?
Nice. Thanks. Very clear and detailed
If one wanted to keep KYC coins separate from non-KYC ones, is it better to use tagging and coin control or to have separate accounts? Please explain. Thanks in advance.
Hey, The most foolproof way to do this is via multiple accounts. That way there is clear segregation and those funds physically cannot be spent together.
U guys should have more views, awesome content, congrats 👏👏👏
Can I buy additional Li-battery in your website? Or are there any Li-batteries which can be used for passport?
Hi, We do not sell replacement batteries at this time. However they are widely available by searching for BL-5C 1200 mAh
Excellent. Great video.
Are you saying all the child seeds are backed up only on an SD card? What happens if that SD card stops working?
You can also back each child seed manually if you like. If the SD stops working, you can either: a) make a new backup from Passport b) if you also lost access to Passport, just recover to a new device and regenerate any child keys.
Is this just on the hot wallet?
Yes, but Passport accounts that have been added to Envoy are also saved too.
are the tags saved in the backup one can save to the sd card?
They certainly are.
Great addition to the app.
I have an offline computer, for a test I tried to recover the backup on it. Doesn't work as it requests a password not a backup code.
Did you try entering the code with a dash every four numbers? docs.foundationdevices.com/passport/backup#open-backup-using-peazip
@@foundationdevices thanks. It worked with dashes rather than spaces.
Imagine losing your microSD, calling your parents just to find out they've thrown it away, and your friend's accidentally formatted it to use for their baby videos. ... I mean, it's unlikely, but it sounds pretty probable. lol :P
That's why you should store your seed words somewhere separately too!
Please what's the exact name of this device ?
This is our 'Founders Edition Passport' which is no longer for sale. The latest version can be found here. foundationdevices.com/passport
😘 *promo sm*
What are you trying to hide?
Any tip on how to make the computer camera to pick up the QR code when scanning? It's blurry and only focus on the background. I even used a piece of paper like you to get rid of the BG. Also, with multi sig, can we use the same seedphrases for 2-3 cold storages or do each signer need to have different seedphrases from one another?
Hey, this type of scan performance is very dependent on the quality of your computer hardware. Learn some adjustments here. docs.foundationdevices.com/troubleshooting#my-phonecomputer-camera-cant-read-the-qr-codes-on-passport For multisig each signer should have a different seed.
Would that make the child account a hot wallet considering the phrase is on the device
The child seed can remain cold or be put into a hot wallet. How and where you apply each is completely up to you.
Where please is the Envoy App on Store?
Hi, You can search for 'Envoy by Foundation' for follow this link foundationdevices.com/download/
This is a very good video! Could you please clarify the following two questions regarding SD card updating? If newly stacked sats are transferred to or new UTXO's are created via purchases with Passport and these funds are associated with an existing account on the Passport, does the SD card need to be updated? If the SD card is updated for any reason, will the user need to write down a new numeric code? Thank you.
Hey, we are glad you like the video! 1. No new update required. 2. No new code required.
@@foundationdevices Thank you.
Hello everyone at Foundation! I just have a quick question, this is my first hardware wallet but since i've been using electrum for a while on my desktop and i've gone trough the trouble of routing through tor for transaction privacy reasons. i'd be more comfortable using it instead of your envoy companion app. Unfortunately my understanding of BTC and how the protocols actually work is extremely rudimentary. My question is while i'm using my new passport through electrum will I have to create a single static receive address? or can I use multiple addresses on the same account on the passport device? The tutorial didn't exactly make that clear...maybe i'm just an idiot and don't understand exactly how this works, but my understanding is that each address has it's own private key and I'm just concerned that the hardware wallet won't receive my transactions if I use multiple short term receive addresses because each account on device is expecting to only have one singular private key address associated with it. Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Hey, When you pair Passport to Electrum or any other wallet software, the 'account level' information is shared such that the wallet software can generate an almost infinite number of receive addresses on behalf of Passport. Passport will be able to sign for every single one of these.
@@foundationdevices hey I appreciate you all getting back to me! Great to know thank you!! I received my wallet the other day and love it btw. I actually cancelled my ledger stax order to pick one of these up. Keep doing what you’re doing!! Great product and all your support videos in your website are amazing.
Sparrow does this for free. Why would anyone pay for this?
Sparrow doesn't offer the inheritance assistance in the same way Keeper does.

I have Envoy paired with Passport. Does this video apply to me?
Only if you want to use the manual setup method to generate a mobile wallet in Envoy. This can be useful to keep smaller amounts of bitcoin on your phone for spending on the go without Passport.
@@foundationdevices ok that's what I thought. Just wanted to be sure. Thx
Too be clear is this only for the envoy hot wallet? Not for foundation passport? I understand the encrpytion being used on the passport which gets saved on the micro SD card. But I just want clarity that the magic backups only apply to envoy hot wallets created on the iphone.@@dmpath
