Savage 110 refinishing stock and metal
Переглядів 4614 днів тому
This older model Savage 110 has seen better days but still feels functions great. Some painted the stock and the blueing was nearly worn off. We Hydrodip the stock in Realtree Camo and Cerakoted the metal work in burnt bronze color. We brought new life into an older model gun. Thanks for watching.

CVA Cascade VH review

I did a comprehensive review of the CVA Cascade VH varmint Hunter series rifle in 22-250 Remington. This gun shot great with a best group of .481” @ 100 yards. I’m extremely pleased with the performance of this varmint rifle. I hope this helps you make a decision on this great rifle. #cva #itsjustabettergun #hornady #sierra #cascadevh
Bergara stock on the Rem700

Giving you a look at the awesome CVA Cascade XT. Going through some of the things I do to prep a new rifle. Then proper scope base and ring alignment. Started with 30 min cycle of very hot water and a few drops of Dawn platinum dishwashing soap but did not use the stainless steel pins. I just covered the brass with hot tap water then added a small sauce pan of boiling water (~1 quart). Add a few drops of Dawn last so that it doesn’t create much suds. This cycle removes the powde...

    Good video but some suggestions. The best case lube you'll ever find and I have to give Dillon Precision credit, is 1oz of liquid lanolin and 12oz of the red bottle ISO-Heet gas line antifreeze. It's 100% isopropyl alcohol and with the lanolin is the slipperiest stuff ever. I mix it up in a old Dawn Power Wash spray bottle, put the cases in a gallon plastic bag, pump a couple sprays in and shake. Pull the cases out and let them dry for a minute and you'll never use waxy lubes again. Get a Lee Universal Decapping Die and run all your cases thru it before cleaning, never wash cases with primers in them and don't resize them either before cleaning, you can scratch your dies. My system after decapping is also to use Dawn or the Meguires, I've tried both IMHO either will work but I add a 45acp case full of simple powdered citric acid bought off Scamazon for a couple bucks, does the same thing as Lemi-Shine and is 1/4 the price. I don't use SS pins for just the reason you showed, I use Southern Shine tumbling media, little stainless chips that flush right out, don't bridge in necks or hang in flash holes. ( tbbullets.com/southern-shine-media-2/ ) I also have a sifter pan that sits on a 2 gallon bucket and after dumping the dirty water I put the pan on the bucket, pour in the cases and flush with water while stirring the cases. All the medis drops into the bucket leaving nothing in the cases. I remove the pan with the cases for drying, dump the water from the bucket and use a nail pickup magnet to collect the media and dump it into the cleaning drum and yes, I do store my media wet in the drum. I dry my brass in an old food dehydrator, takes less than 15 minutes. Literally the whole process is faster than it took me to tap this out. Give these ideas a try, you might like it. One of these days I'll put a video of my own, just have to figure out how to do that.

      Yes, I've never worn out a die. Would love to know if you have by resizing dirty brass because that never crossed my mind. If so, how many rounds did it take to wear out the die? Funny thing is Eric Cortina (world champ long distance shooter) said he has stopped cleaning his brass because it does not make any difference in his accuracy and he handloads every round.

    UPDATE: full transparency- the only issue I’ve experienced is an occasional misfeed when I get down to only 1-2 rounds left in the mag. This has happened about 5-6 times now. It appears that the mag follower allows the bullet to tip forward as the bolt face strikes the back of the cartridge causing round to stand up in the magazine. It only happens when the spring pressure is light (ie nearly empty). I’ll do more testing and see if I can increase spring pressure on the follower.

    Great video. Just ordered one of these in 22-250 from Bud's Guns. They had it in stock, I figured it wouldn't last long, so jumped on it. It just shipped today btw. I have some factory rounds but Thanks to your video, just bought a pound of H380 & found some old Remington Accutip V 50 gr bullets I had laying around. Hopefully, I'll have as good of luck in mine (when it comes in) as yours did with the H380 powder. I also loaded some Varget & Benchmark powder with these bullets. Can't wait to see what powder it likes. I assume the 50 gr would be suitable to the 1 in 12 twist as the 55 gr. Question though, I have some 60 gr Hornady V Max bullets. Have you shot anything heavier with yours than 55 grainers?? Just wanted to know if you have and what were your results. Thx in advance. Can't wait for mine, I've been wanting a bolt action 22-250 for years (like you) and this seems to be one of the best ones on the market.

    • @6mileoutdoors
      @6mileoutdoors 4 місяці тому

      Dennis, Thanks for the feedback and glad the video was to your liking. The load I settled on was 40.0 gr of H380 under the Sierra blitz king projectiles. I’m wanting to try different loads but haven’t gotten a chance yet. Did take it out to 500 last weekend. My warm up at 100 yards shot a .310” 3 shot group off sand bags. I’ll try to post a pic. On the first outing I killed a coyote on the run with no issues. I suspect the 50gr bullets will work fine and I plan to try some. I doubt that I’ll go any heavier than 55gr. Hope you have great luck with yours.

    Should have seen if they had 22ARC, it out performs the 22-250 at 2-300 yards I believe it's 200 and 224. Still new so not sure if they're chambering it yet.

    • @6mileoutdoors
      @6mileoutdoors 5 місяців тому

      Yes, the ARC is a little faster and I did research on them before buying this one. A couple of reasons are the 22 arc is so new that CVA is not chambering yet. When a new caliber comes out ALL companies that build rifles outside of the USA have to get clearance to offer that new caliber. This is why domestic manufacturers offered the 7PRC before Bergara and other offshore manufacturers. Also because it is new, brass is still very limited. A third reason is....my buddy has 22-250 so we can share data. That doesn't mean I'll never own a 22 ARC because I checked the new Ruger American Gen II before buying this gun and they are not offering that until later in 2024. Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed the video.

    • @6mileoutdoors
      @6mileoutdoors 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the question. The process of applying cerakote requires removal of the original finish. This allows for the cerakote to adhere properly to the base metal. Once applied properly it can’t be removed without sandblasting.

The stock forearm is slightly wider and they added the check riser on the VH model. All of these are listed on the BPI Outdoors website under the tab CVA Rifles. Hope this helps and good hunting.

      The Cascade XT model is not offered in 223, mainly larger calibers. The standard Gen 1 cascade does have the 22” barrel, which should support slightly faster velocity. However, the complete line of of the original cascade has been sold out for months. I speculate that CVA is discontinuing that model OR they just put all their resources in development of the new models.

      I don't see any 7mm-08 or any NOSLER calibers offered in the standard Cascade or the Cascade XT.

    I just bought a dry media separator, filled it 2/3 up with water and put my brass in it right after tumbling and didn’t have a single pin in the brass after about 2 minutes of spinning it. I highly recommend getting one. It’s the best $40 I’ve ever spent. Also use a food dehydrator it willl dry your brass in an hour.

      @@lens7859 You can buy pounds of citric acid (lemi-shine) for much cheaper than brand Lemi-shine. just gotta know how to bargain shop. Armor all wash and wax + citric acid... best results.

      Imagine being so poor that $7 for enough Lemishine to do hundreds of cycles of wet tumbling mattered. 😂
