Building a DIY Bike Washing Station for Almost No Money
Переглядів 39310 місяців тому
I got tired of pulling out my bike stand, among other things, to give my bike a quick rinse, so I built a bike wash. For me, it really cost nothing, as most of the stuff I used was already sitting around my house from previous projects. But if you don't have all the extra things I had to make it look nicer, you only need the 4x4, a hook, and quikrete. In total, for me, I only spent sixteen doll...

I believe in ICD is an insulin port kind of like a pacemaker but it controls insulin
After watching several reviews, I recently bought the Switchback Expert. I really like the bike, but I have bit of a problem with the freehub. When I peddle after coasting at moderate speeds, it takes about a quarter of a rotation for the pawls to catch the teeth, resulting in a really awkward "dead air" feeling until the gears re-engage. Is this normal? Can this hub be replaced with one that engages faster?
I mean, I can't say if it's normal. It is an upgrade. These things are not perfect. It is still a lower level bike and when compared to more expensive bikes it would be normal. I always say to take it into a bikeshop and just get a good lookover.
You can pay 200 more dollars on polygons website and get the xtrada 7 for $900 so I guess 300 more and get a air fork boost through axles novatec rear hubs and all Shimano Deore All that for 300 more dollars in my opinion it's a little better by than spending $700 on the Mongoose it's just my opinion but anyhow great video thanks for doing reviews like this
New sub here My name is Brett by the way I already got a 2024 specialized rockhopper sport it's 3 months old it's a large with 29-in wheels but I'm 5'9 and it's a little big so I'm going to get either the polygon xtrada 7 or the polygon syncline c3 on the 20th of this month I'm more of a hardtail person❤❤
That sounds good. I ended up going with Trek because they offer a m/l. It is a perfect middle. I'm around the same height. I felt a large was too big and a medium was too small. The medium/large was perfect.
I live 2 hours from here. I can tell by the bird songs and the condition of the trees that this is late spring/early summer. Probably muggy as hell too! The weather here in summer is horrendous with the humidity, it's hard to breathe correctly! Most people who aren't adjusted to it find it overbearing. Helmet, hydration pack were always totally soaked in sweat too. I have actually stopped and wrung out my helmet pads because they were dripping in my eyes! Beer/shower was always the best afterward!
I love it. I hope to get back there soon.
i am heading to Jarrods in 2 weeks!! camping and riding , 3 nights camping and 4 days of riding! You inspired me to go and Im finally going!!
Hell yeah, man!!!!!!!
I want
Bentonville is like a biker's paradise.
What helmet is that? I'm thinking about going to a full face. I like to start up Bear Creek to Pinhoti 1, take P1 to Wilderness Road, climb the road to the overlook, and bomb down Bear Creek. Lots of climbing, but the downhills are worth it. I think it's about 15 miles total starting from the paved road.
It is a kali invader. I did a video about it.
Do you know of any cool bike parks that are at most an hour away from sugar hill GA
Big creek would be your best bet.
@@MTBRideFree thank you ☺️
Thanks for posting this! I was wanting to see some of the basics before I go down and ride for the first time and this was exactly it.
Yep, probably favorite trail especially on a “T” day 😊
Yep. Thanks for watching
I’ll take it off your hands lol! Do you think this is good for urban riding and hill climbs?
I am going to be giving it away soon. Make sure to subscribe.
Definitely!
I didn't see the beginning of bomb dog, (the rock entrance) or the rock roll down feature (not the optional black drop).. 🤔
Okay, and?
I recently did upgrades to my Mongoose Switchback Sport 2020 - Shimano CUES U6000 10-speed 6 components groupset (originally Tourney XT 3x7 speed), MT200 hydraulic brakes (originally mech brakes), EXA Form 900i dropper and installed SR Suntour XCR32 RLR air fork. For all these I paid under $350 and ~$90 servicing. Think I am good to go for another 3 years. :)
That is awesome. Thanks so mich for watching.
The new suntour you put on is it a tapered fork and did you have to add any certain bearings to make the new fork work?
@@BrianBanks8134 Not a tapered one, and no extra bearings were needed.
@VicharB was looking to get back into riding again which bike you think would be a better bike to upgrade the ozark trail ridge or the mongoose?
@@BrianBanks8134 I am not an expert on this subject. I'd say upgrade the one you like the more. :)
what do you think of the poseidon norton at 699 compared to this ? i like this bike also...thanks
It seems that the Norton is a better quality bike. It is usually a thousand-dollar bike. If you can run a dropper and it has the internal routing for it. That would be a huge plus. But the Norton is a very nice hardtail.
@@MTBRideFree thanks for your time :)
Ohhh that red would match my red Nukeproof beautifully!!! Looking forward to your upcoming vids on these!!🤙🏼
That red is so striking. It is dark and beautiful. It is very well made.
Im also interested in magnetic! I'm definitely not trying clipless. To afraid as a newbie. I need to "eject" fast lol ICP= Insane Clown Posse 😂 Ohhhh ICD🤦 no clue!!
ICP and magnetic pedals go together so well. Lmao
@@MTBRideFree 😂
Great info! Thanks.
Simple and effective! Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I’m replacing a 1998 Schwinn Moab. Just need a neighborhood bike with the occasional off road capability. A lot of great info to make a decision! Again, thanks.
Real quick. Did they give you the choice between receiving Expert and the Comp? Did you research both? If so, what did you think of the Comp? Thanks
Yes, I thought the comp was more of a basic Walmart-type bike.
I want
Great video, probably need to brush up on the mtb terminology.
Xtrada 6 a better buy at this price point
Awesome, thanks for watching.
Problem is extra 80 dollars shipping from California
Walton’s just bought 2700 acres here in Bella Vista. Hopefully for someone awesome in my backyard.
Really, I hope they build some epic stuff. Thanks so much for watching.
sound coming from right channel only
Very late but that Riftzone looks like a 2022 or earlier model and is designed for 130mm front travel and Marin allows a maximum increase of 10mm so a 140mm travel fork is the most this bike will take otherwise over traveling your bike will void the warranty and your frame is can break not recommend putting a 150mm fork I have a 2022 Riftzone 3 27.5 and am perfectly satisfied with 130mm front 120mm rear the newer 2023 and up Riftzone’s come stock with a 140mm travel fork they designed the newer RZ’s for a 140mm and potentially Marin will say it’s ok to bump up to a 150mm on the 2023 or 2024 models not the 2022 or earlier
I dunno. It seems to me there are many better options, either at or not too far above this bike's price, that wouldn't need as many upgrades. Perhaps the only advantage the Mongoose has is the retailer having a layaway plan available (even though some bike shops do as well).
Thanks for the comment and Thanks for watching.
I did something similar, but instead of hook, I mounted a bike stand claw so my bike is completely off the ground & attach it to top tube or seat post. Got my bike stand claw from Amazon for $30. And you can rotate it
Well, I will be doing that. Thanks for the fantastic advice. Thanks for watching.
I just wish these Walmart/DSG bikes were 12x148 thru axle in the rear. Does it have a tappered headtube?
It sure does, that built this thing to be upgraded for sure.
Boost spacing is the worst thing to ever happen to mountain bikes. It's totally unnecessary and widens the chainstays so your heels rub and requires wide q-factor cranks. 12x142 thru-axle was great.
@@aaronbehindbars your heels rub chainstays?! My feet stay on pedals. 🤷 Or you wear a size 20 shoe ... Your actually the 1st person I've ever heard say this.

18:20 - I had no problem with schroen trail on my 110mm XC bike... my gf rode shroen trail on a 110 hardtail. I dont think the bike is the issue. Its a sick trail for almost any bike!
That's awesome!!! Keep on riding. Thanks for watching.
What are the giveaways gonna be?😮
I'm gonna be putting that up soon.
Great video of the easy street trail. Thank you for sharing this. I cannot wait to hit that trail this year. I live close to Gatlinburg but I didnt find out about the park opening up to MTB until the close of the season last year.
Thanks so much for watching. It is an excellent place. I can't wait to see if they open any more trails.
Do you still have this bike? Did you upgrade the tires, if so what tires? I'm in GA, hence why I ask about tires. Thx
I have not changed them from the trail kings, but those are the upgrade to the ones that came on it.
what was the noise, is that an e-bike?
Are you talking about the free hub?
@@MTBRideFree Possibly am new to biking
@@motodrummer if you are talking about that buzzing sound, then yes, that is the free hub. mark the sound in the vid and I could tell you for sure.
Awesome riding! How wide were your tires? I’m going in April
2.4
Ooh baby I could watch you wash bikes all day. ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!!!!!!
Good stuff, if I had a dedicated bike wash station I might be more inclined to actually wash my bike. I might add a crossbar with hooks to hand brushes and soap on so I don't have to set those on the ground while I'm warshin'
That will happen for sure. Thanks for the idea.
Some blocks screwed to the post to prevent the wheel from falling off the side of the post. Maybe the hook a little higher
Thanks man, great ideas. Thanks for watching.
Go to Bend OR to get your bike man. No stupid sales tax.
Well that is a good idea, but then again i would have to spend way more money to get there. Would defeat the pupose. Lol. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the honest review… they didn’t build this for the best in MTB, but there in the way to be awesome. Try whistler? Yeah it’s in Canada.
Gross, who wants to go to Canada. Thanks for watching. I will be back in Bentonville in April for another go.
My mom and dad getting back together.😢
