Ironic, this afternoon I was thinking how the same pattern always repeat itself in history. A man, himself often coming from the fringe of the ruling class championing the common people against a kleptocratic ruling class. There is some exemple of populist leaders rising in ancient Greece and Rome but the most famous one in history is Julius Caesar. It's funny because the establishment systemically call them tyrant or would-be king thinking it's derogatory and never understanding that the disenfranchised people crave for a dictator that will purge the oligarchy. In reality there's no such thing as a good war. The lasting effects on the veterans who fought them can be seen in their eyes.. There are only justified vs unjustified. World war 2 was one of the rare examples of truly justified. Either you allowed Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany to conquer the world and murder everyone they didn't like or stood and fought to protect your nation and loved ones. Most other wars are fought because of money and lust for someone else's natural resources while being justified to the public with lies and deception
