Jake tube chassis X3 handled it like a champ as did my 2021 Yamaha rmax 1000, if you go to hollerwood, you gotta check out this trail. Thanks for watching and don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE!!

I'm on my third windshield because they crack
Nice hat, how close are you to the badlands? I’m in northwest Indiana.
Thanks, We’re 5 hours north in Michigan
The 550 motor is probably the most reliable motor that cat makes. The cable brake is the lower level sleds for cat the upper levels are all hydraulic. Last but not least to take the tank off and seat takes four bolts and it takes you probably 2 minutes to take it off. Everybody is always jealous of the Cat. They have been making Superior sleds for at least 60 years. Have made the first kids snowmobile and also the fastest snowmobile.
why the 1050 and not a 998 sidewinder motor?
Would you be interested in building me one?
I’d leave that lady 😂she a real catch
I have a 24 RMAX 4 and I'd be terrified taking it here. Wow... Crazy...
Your video didn't show me anything, how to take the old springs off....how did you compress the spring to get the top cap on. I thought the directions were terrible. Very disappointed
@@darrylhoupt3763 we didn’t have a spring compressor, we just used a small punch and tapped the top lock nut loose then used a rag with a pair of big channels locks to turn the bottom locknut until we could turn it by hand.
Do you leave your sway bars connected when you ride these types of trails?
@@jeffstevens1549 I unhook one stab link in the front and zip tie it to the bar, that way I can still hook it back up for the fast pace trail riding, really thinking about if pulling it out altogether, mainly because I never remember to hook it back up🤣 I leave the rear one alone
@@sledsandsxs1376 I appreciate you for responding. I also have an Rmax4, and was contemplating taking mine off as well. Thank you for the videos.
Love the rmax and the tube setups
Hey I have the same rmax but 2 seater lifted with mud tires
Gas is on the right....gooooooooo....giving rmax a bad name.....lol
You ain’t kidding!!!🤣🤣
Nice video! What size trailer are you using for the rmax?
Thanks, I’m using a 7x14 single axle aluminum trailer, works great for the rmax!
No low range ?
That was low range, but it was right at it’s tipping point to flopping it on its side, felt super sketchy!
How did you mount the flag on the front of your Rmax?
I made a bracket that bolts to the front shackle brackets
I drank a lot ,all the NOISES went away!!!!
It’s nice to see a video where the drivers are using patience, finesse and skills rather than the common scenario of zero common sense and the “pin it to win it” attitude. Don’t get me wrong there are those RARE moments when that applies . And thanks for a video with no swearing, I’m showing my Grand kids these videos to give them more exposure to what they’re gonna do with me when they get older . Keep up the good work.
I think you might use the 10 year belt warranty 😁
Thank you posting this! I am so torn. I really really want the better ride from Schmidty springs. Just do not want the extra ride height over stock. Spoke with Tyler at Schmidty and he swears the extra ride height is not a problem. Im concerned about axels and losimg rock crawling capabilities as long as the machine becoming more tippy! You mentioned you lowered yours, but Schmidty says they designed them to run at the higher height. With you lowering them lower than their recommendation are you losing some of their intended performance? Also worth noting when I explained to tyler my height concern he didnt mention that I can or should lower it. Wonder why he left that part out?
I was never really concerned with the extra ride height as the rmax4 is already very tall and too heavy stock, the reason we set ours lower knowing that we we going to sacrifice performance was the axle angles, at the time we shot this video, axles we’re next to impossible to get and there were no aftermarket support yet,I already had one clicking pretty bad and didn’t want to break one and be down for an unknown amount of time. Now that axles are pretty much readily available I’m probably going to adjust it to schmidtys recommendations for this riding season, I love the schmidty springs, they are game changers for the rmax platform!
Send the shocks out to get the rebound slower.
lock the diff for the win. is that a stock rmax? went up that man that is a capable buggy.
The rmax does pretty well for what it is, it’s pretty much stock except for the schmidty springs and wheels and tires
You need to let your wife drive next time
Can you tell me the size wheel an tires you have
The wheels are no longer made last I checked but they are battle born bootlegger 14x7 4+3 offset, the tires are maxxis rampage 32/10/14
I love the support the wife was given laughing her ass off at him lol pretty funny
Lock the diff
How’s the shocks holding up? Thinking this setup or therapy’s. I’m running a rmax sport and my back preload springs are like yours just flat as a pancake. Plus looking to smooth out St. Helen whoops for me
They’re holding up great so far! Feel the same as the day I put them without any adjustments, you should have better results with your sport because of the better shocks from the factory, if I remember right, the sports have more adjustability which will with tuning, by far my biggest complaint with the rmax was how horrible the stock suspension is! I went with the schmidty kit because I felt it was a better, more complete kit.
Did you run 12 towards 13 or towards 11?
I cant remember, all I remember is we went down trail 9 then hopped and went up trail 12 when they crossed each other
Nice job on the trail riding footage. If you need to drop the seat height in these machines your gonna need a side mounted bucket seat like a sparco evo (might have trouble seeing over the steering wheel). I think most suspension seats raise your seating height and you loose out on that rally car feel.
Thanks! I think he lowered the seat as far as possible, pretty sure he gonna get a lsk weld together kit to replace the one that on it.
shots out you front dont really show crap why not put a camara underneath so we can really see the action it like watching porn and the people have clothes on
I saw bleepenjeep do this trail with 40s and they had issues so I am shocked that the little sxs do so well
Yeah me too! It was a wild time to say the least!!
I just bought a 23 RMAX 1000 2 xtr so I am trying to learn all I can about them do all RMAXs have the front and rear lockers . and if you go to larger tires will they void you transmission warranty because I bought a extra 5 yr warranty
Anytime you add parts, your giving a warranty company an easy excuse to void any claims in the future, if your worried about that keep the stock setup and bolt those on anytime it needs to go in for service, the rear is locked all the time, and the front can be locked and unlocked with the diff lock switch
I was wondering why you think a RMAX 2 seat would do better then a 4 seat they look about the same as far as wheel spacing as far as I can tell oit looks like the difference is one has a dump bed and tthe other has seats instead and from what I know they have the same power train
The 2 seaters have 2 more inches of suspension travel in the rear, the rear seat on the rmax4 limit travel because your basically sitting on the shocks!
Not sure why manufacturers don't have an option of either 4stroke or 2stroke engines for SxS
The unreliability of a 2 stroke and the added weight of a sxs would be my guess
How much air pressure you running in those 32's? 8-9lbs would be the pressure in those conditions
7 psi is what I run, I tried 5 psi and the steering was horrible
Yes thank you for posting, no racing or hard riding for me just need sumthin I found an ice ripper track for 500$ 🤔 then I thought about swapping tracks storing the other one, way too much work
Honestly, I was not impressed. I'm not sure if it's the 4 seater or the difference between the woops but I hit woops twice the size with my LE at 40+ mph and it handles it no problem with stock LE shock set up on firm. I will say most people do get nervous pushing it that hard, but it doesn't get worse in the bucking before it gets better. You just have to send it hard enough and find the rhythm for that set of woops. I will be making a video soon. I want to do the schmidty PSM but I want to know if it will still handle my hard riding style. I have x3 telling me I'm going fast. I mean to me that saying something. Good video but I'm just not sold yet.
yep not impressed here either
He had it but the camera man was in front of the way
Just know one thing the 96 cougar was not a high end sled like the zr's that's why it had a cable brake. Not meant for racing. I had one, it was a great trail sled. And that 550 motor was bullet proof.
Confidence with arctic cats or your mechanic skills.
I would think that the ditch banger race is when the rail started cracking?
For sure!
great footage of the falls been there many times love camp 33 great beer and food, just a short hop from my parents place
Thanks! We’re hoping to make it back up there this season! Absolute blast riding in that area!!
so this is a yamaha side by side with yamaha 1050 snowmobile motor im guessing a triple not a twin motor by the looks of the header on the motor so just wondering does that side by side have the stock transmission and the snowmobile motor bolts right up or was ther medications that had to be done to mate the motor to the transmission its a awesome machine its like its the way it should of been built right from the company
The factory 1000cc engine is a 3 cylinder, it’s basically a plug and play direct bolt in swap except for a tune, this one has a Mott’s tune in it, an extra 50cc doesn’t sound like much but from what I understand it really wake these up without spend insane money on a turbo kit, I have no idea the power difference from stock to this because this is the only one I’ve ever rode in. One things for sure, it RIPS!!
After all that work and as cool as it looks its still a crappy CanAm. Don't get me wrong I have a RZR and they are all junk for what they cost.
Not a good driver
Are you running 32” tires?
Jake’s running 33” desert storms and the rmax is running 32” maxxis rampage tires.
I haven't been there in a few years but the backbone looks another smother than it once was
Yeah, when we were there, we talked to some locals that said the park came in and knocked the center ridge down to make it a little easier I guess.
Your videos really help me on my decision for ST or Schmidtys. Thank you a ton!
No problem! Glad they helped in your decision!
