    This was very helpful. I’m only 21 but I grew up being bullied in both public school and non-public school as a kid growing up and all my life, I’ve wanted homeschooling even in high school which I only graduated when I was 19. Not that long ago and anyway, so I’ve wanted to do homeschooling for my children in the future just to prevent all of that from happening to my kids and I’m in California so this was really helpful. I think I might do the private homeschooling option over the tutor or the other option just because I am capable of teaching. I used to teach some of the special ed kids in my classes that couldn’t understand their schoolwork and after each class, I would be like a little teacher. I also have wanted to be a stay-at-home dad that homeschools my kids because I never got the opportunity to be homeschooled when I was a kid and a teenager and I hated it. So this was really helpful. Thank you again. I don’t have any children right now, but I plan to in four years when I’m 25 because by that point I can legally start fostering and adopting at that age which is what I want to do on top of having biological kids of my own. Three biological and three adopted sound good to me. I honestly have the patience and capacity for taking care of kids and same goes for homeschooling. I just know I don’t want my kids going to school with other children from other families and risk getting discriminated against and bullied and attacked. And also the thing with school shootings nowadays have me even more scared. Like I do not want my kids going to public school or private school because I’m not religious and I’m not teaching my kids that stuff and non-public school wasn’t really helpful for me in high school so I’m just not taking the chance with my own kids. I also was adopted so that’s how I know I want to have adopted kids and biological ones. I had siblings who were my adopted parents biological children however I always wanted an adopted sibling who understood what I went through as a kid, I never got that opportunity and so I plan to do that for my kids. Anyway thank you again! This was helpful! ❤

    Thank you for this video. My 1st grade daughter is behind grade level in reading and I really want to help her this summer figure it all out. I wanted to find a program that will cover it all as I’m not sure where to start her. I feel so bad that I didn’t start sooner. I don’t know why I assumed the school/teachers were going to help her. It is my job now.

    • @summerhouse9200
      @summerhouse9200 2 місяці тому

      I would suggest you go and file it to cover yourself just in case… it’s simple and takes less than 15 mins. I did it this year with my two. If you are filing the PSA in California for the first time, you can do it anytime during that first year. (I know this because I pulled mine out of public earlier this year) After that, it has to be filled out for each subsequent year thereafter between October 1-15th. Hope this helps!

    I ended up doing this for my Kindergartener to start. Scholastic workbook and some dollar tree flashcards and supplies. I still use it but have added Easy Peasy math and learn to read program which are free ❤ Workbooks and library books are definitely a great starting point or even a great way to have work samples of subjects.I plan to use Evan Moor spell and write until middle school to meet my states Grammar and spelling requirements. I prefer to focus on reading and handwriting in younger years.

    Thank you! I've been stressing about homeschooling my soon to be 5 year old and worried that I wouldn't cover enough material. I had purchased allinone Curriculum because it's cheap and has all subjects but i quickly figured out that i hate prining off everything and having to organize the papers 😂 I recently checked out workbooks instead and I LOVE it! More importantly my daughter loves them. The colors, layout and ease of tracking progress. I have her do ABCMOUSE learning path as a supplement and we are focusing on hooked on phonics for our language arts but everything else is workbooks! Thank you also for being representation for African American homeschool moms. Not many of us out here 😂

    That's very simple! For the past couple of years, my anxiety over homeschooling has nearly left me mentally paralyzed on a daily basis. I've been doing this since my kids were toddlers, so it's not new, but the pressure and worry that my kids' home education won't "hold water" in the real world is so terrifying. Not knowing what they're supposed to know at certain "grades" really gets in the way, and then knowing my son probably won't meet the expectations because of his mild learning issues...😖😮‍💨 it's stressful. Im burned out, but im going to keep pushing. I've got to overcome this homeschool hump!

    HOP was great for my 7yr old nephew who has learning disabilities (ADHD). Unfortunately his parents had not worked with him on the basics (counting/alphabets) and there were a lot of things missing academically that his school ignored but continued to pass him on to the next grade. Within 2 months w/ HOP, he went from not knowing all of his alphabets to not only recognizing all of them but reading up to 14 books. It really is a great system.

      This is really great to hear. I almost feel like God brought me to this page to make sure I saw this comment. I have a very similar situation. My nephew is 9 and is in 2nd grade. He has suspected Learning Disabilities and suspected ADHD. I say suspected because I am currently working with his school and Pediatrician to figure things out. I became his guardian and caretaker after losing my sister last summer. I have been trying to get him where he needs to be. Unfortunately my sister due to work and struggling as a single parent missed some things. Foundational things that were supposed to be built in earlier learning. I've been trying so hard to find resources to help him and I started researching Hooked on Phonics but didn't know if it actually worked. I'm glad I saw your comment.

    This is exactly what I have been doing with my kids. I try to explain it to people and they look at me like I'm crazy. Now, I can just send them the link to your video. I totally agree that this is easier, and way more fun, than using a curriculum. My biggest reason for not wanting a bought curriculum is that I want my kids to be learning about the same topics at the same time (but vary the level of difficulty for each child). Also, I wanted to teach things that were relevant, like gardening in the spring. Thanks for the video!
