3SGE Beams swap Celica. Ep.23. Door handles / tail lights.
Back from the dead. I finally get back on the Celica build. Quick walk through on some other projects I have. I install the door handles that I got back from powder coat and finally get to use some parts that I've had for over 2yrs.

What the seals number
What is the point of the bracket for the booster ? Isn't it a straight fit on a ta22 ?
The angle of the Wilwood bracket was pointed down. Meaning you would have to mount the proportion valve flipped around. (a Wilwood intended). With the knob closest to the fire wall. I needed to have it mounted the other way. So the bracket I made is pointed up. That way you can mount it backwards.
Now am done for that work
You said Recaro lx seat?
Nice 👍🏽
Just checking in....missing this car and the content you make!!!
Thanks man. I noticed that filming while working on the car has been taking away from the passion of building it. Ill post another video soon. A lot of progress has been made since. Ill fill everyone in soon. I appreciate the interest. !!
@@Bye401K I honestly forgot you had that SICK R32! Maybe make a POV video of you taking her out and giving it the ole Italian tune up! 10/10 would watch more than once lol
Do you remember the link that ordered these fenders from?
Do you still have the walk around video of this car and the build list? I was interested when it was for sale on Facebook marketplace but didn’t have enough enough scratch for it. Looking to build something close to this. Thanks!
Hi bye401k great content learned a lot from the vids. Also can you cover the drive shaft? Did you use the stock celica or custom? Thanks and more power to you!
Thanks. I used the one that Xcessive makes. It's about the only thing that fit correctly from them. lol.
just discovered your recent videos today on the celica, and your already hitting most of the jobs i need to do and answered a load of questions i had just as i start out doing mine too. did you buy direct from ponretro somehow or ebay?
I bought everything direct. Hes great and super helpfull.
Good job bro 👍
I had the 1977 GT lift back 5 speed and I also had the 1976 GT coupe. Wish I had these cars today
That was an awesome burnout from the Malibu. I think you will need to rebuild the window regulator and install the rollers, bushings to keep everything in line. Once you replace them the window glass will sit into the channels properly.
21:16 Did you consider trying to drill it out? That seems safer than percussion to get it out.
That would probably work as well. I didn't wanna risk the drill bit walking and making the hole outta shape.
Driveway burnouts are the best burnouts 😂 Did you rebuild your window regulators, or were yours still good? That was a "fun" job on mine.
That Nova.. that Malibu! 😮 the whole shop is just fantastic. I know the struggle of just needing to work on stuff and not wanting to make videos out of it. Keep at it!
There's a two part epoxy that you get to make those lenses. You use the original to make a silicone mold, and then you pour the epoxy into that. ua-cam.com/video/Pu1RTkWHA3o/v-deo.html I own one of the first Celicas (RA20) and I watched a guy make a video on this (different video) made lenses for the very first generation Celica. Between 3-D printing, epoxy, and casting, maybe we'll keep these cars running forever Is that car wrapped? It looks painted, but then when you install the door handle it looks like it's wrapped. Awesome project!
The hole process is awesome. So much work into those lenses. My car is painted. It has some sealer around the handles. It for sure needs a good 3 stage detail though.
glad to see you back at it
Right on. Great to have you back. 👍👍🍺🍺
Updates ? When new video sir ?
‼️Hopefully I can save someone else from ordering the wrong Steering Rack here. ‼️ The AW11 rack does NOT fit the Celica. The inner tie rods are much (nearly 2x) longer than the AE86. Techno Toy Tuning offers racks for both cars, so make sure you get the AE86 one if you’re using one of these in a Celica. I ordered the wrong one bc of this video 😢 Should have double checked! These racks are often out of stock, so instead of returning it for the correct one I’ll have to buy AE86 tie rods and swap them.
Had no problems with the AW11 man. I talked to them on the phone and they knew exactly what I needed for the build.
@@Bye401KIt IS an AW11 steering rack, but the tie rod ends are different for the AE86. I think the confusion comes from how they have them listed on their site vs what they communicated to you over the phone. The “AE86 Steering Rack” as they have it listed is just an AW11 rack with AE86 inner tie rod ends. I should have just called them like you did instead of ordering off their site. Did you have any issues with the passenger side bushing going over the taper on the steering rack? I just got my crossmember from excessive and the mounts for the steering rack are about half an inch too close together. Half the bushing fits on the narrow section of the rack and half goes up into the wider part. I waited four weeks for this thing and might have to send it back 😞
@@Bye401KAlso, I’m not blaming you for my mistake man, sorry if it came across that way. Really appreciate the videos, they’ve been immensely helpful!
I've never seen anyone trim/cut the rear inner fender as symmetrical as you did. Very tidy. Please post more 💯
Man, it’s an absolute joy to watch you work. It’s inspirational. What made you decide to do a down style exhaust tip vs a traditional Japanese single outlet long tip?
No real reason. Lotta guys back in the day had turn down tips. Mostly the RX7 guys. I just like how clean it looks.
@@Bye401K sounds good and can’t blame ya. Just generally curious 😄
How much would you charge to do this to my 81
Send me a message on IG. @Darklab.mfg
You ain’t kidding. I need this done also. Saving this video.
Wood. WOOD?? That’s crazy man. I legit thought it was brushed gold for the emblems but it’s WOOD?? That’s something I’ve never thought of nor thought I’d see. Amazing work man.
Even though I’m building my first car, an AE86, this series helps with a ton of ideas and tricks!
Shoutout to Excessive for making such a terribly designed spacer 🤣 If you’re making a spacer designed for a specific car and motor swap, do it right. Not everybody has access to a lathe, so this just sucks to see. But glad you were able to remedy it!
Where did you buy those fenders?
Classic industries
so for the T stat bypass which you deleted that whole line that runs to the back under the exhaust manifold, did you just shorten the flange and welded the bung/an and then bloked off the smaller line that runs into the thermo?
There is a better explanation in this vid. ua-cam.com/video/9igv2tLG3gA/v-deo.html
thank you so much i will do the same on my ae86 swap 🙏🏻
@@Bye401Kwhere you relocated the oil filter, is it just removing the ild plate and slapping on a filter or does it require some sort of adapter? tia i am using your build as a guideline for my swap on my ae86🙏
@@rollingguy86 Thanks man. After all the research I've done, they say that it's the same. You can use both spots for the oil filter. I don't quite remember, but I belive you can use the threaded part that the oil filter screws on to in both places. I made my own because i needed 2 of them though.
@@Bye401Kthank you so much for that info brother yes i am finally doing it🙌🏻 and the oil line thats coming from the block that connects to the oem plate to where you relocated the filter do you just cap it off? please make more videos on the celica we want to see more of it🙏💪🏼
What steering rack bushings did you use for this
nice content man.
I liked the video, but it's not registering for some strange reason. You should look into that. The likes were at 0. I clicked like, and it's still at zero. May be a UA-cam issue. On another note, are you going for Chromed trim or brushed. Personally, brush looks better to me.
should be good now? I posted it and it wasent done loading yet.
Looks like that toyheadauto front bar would fit a stock 18rc/rg or a 20/22r just fine. They are all rear sump. Currently I have zero front sway bar in #dalesdragon and so far I haven't really been upset with the handling. That's not to say it couldn't be better. I definitely need some RCAs to cut out the bump steer. Also I don't have enough power to worry about the rear end sliding around :D Hopefully I'll change that soon.
Thanks to dad for the valuable info! Great stuff.
Great find! The beams is the known swap. Hard to go wrong when the book is written. Just follow along! That’s reason 1 of 2 for my 18RG swap. Keeping it OG is #2 :)
I dunno man.. I’ve pulled 3 Celica motors and used the hoist to pop them out of the top with the trans every time. With the removable bar in front of the rad it’s pretty simple slide them out. Plus you are left with wheels that roll and turn! But this is an interesting method if you don’t have a hoist.. and if the crossmember is going to be replaced anyway.
Man, that dry ice works so good. I’ve not done it yet but I can’t wait for the satisfaction it brings.
Got any pictures of the final product from both sides?
I think it's a really unique and cool touch with the shave and badging.
I know the mental struggle right up till the moment the grinder touches metal
I personally love the fact that you have the confidence to do what you want to your car. It will look 👌🏻 when it’s done! New subscriber here from the UK 🇬🇧
At the end of the day it's your dream you are chasing! People think I am crazy for my car, but the smiles it brings me are worth it
I'm more of a 'stock never goes out of style' kind of guy and definitely not a fan of screw-on fiberglass flares. But I do like that these are metal and I agree that the crease around the arch gives them more of an OEM feel than most flares. I recently watched Sarah-N-Tuned put flares on a 1974 2UZ Celica coupe and it didn't bother me because coupe. But watching a Celica Liftback have the fenders cut was hard to watch. :) Do you plan to bodywork these and hide the screws or keep the bolt on look?
Thanks man. Yes, it was kinda hard to get over. To say the least. It will be painted again. Most likely keep the bolts but they will be black. Moulding flares in looks odd to me.
Great work so far mate! I hear you on the motivation ...It really can take a lot to keep the momentum going sometimes.
How you made hoses to interior heater? I saw from the previous video that you welded the original pipe holes to the back of the engine?
No heat or A/C
Ok, that solution will not work here in cold Finland. @@Bye401K

we built a 76 celica wide body in 92 with a tunnel ram 283 with a 5 speed trans it would smoke most cars on the street we put a full frame with chevy suspension under it with a lot of upgrades
I bought that same valence a few years ago, but the fitment was for a completely different variant of the front valence - there's a handful of different ones and I just couldn't make it work at all. Ended up selling it off. Yours looks great.
looks great, should be amazing when it's done
